Anyone close contact and not catch it?!

LifesTooShortYOLO · 30/12/2021 11:25

I was with someone on Monday who has tested positive today.
Freaking out.
Am I more likely than not to get it?!
Has anyone not actually caught it after being in close contact with someone's recently?

I’m a teacher and haven’t caught it.

Bramblecrumble21 · 30/12/2021 11:26

Yep, loads of time ha. DH and I have had contact through work, varying levels of PPE. Never caught it.

TOADfan · 30/12/2021 11:26

Me. Before Christmas I was in a car windows closed for about 2 hours with a friend who tested positive. Me and her whole family had PCRs and no one else tested positive apart from her.

cpjoli · 30/12/2021 11:27

Me. DSS has had it twice and I'm a teacher, havent had it yet. Fingers crossed 🤞

MoiraNotRuby · 30/12/2021 11:28

Me - been around loads of people who have since tested positive and I'm still testing negative. If I don't catch it in the next week I might donate myself to medical science to be honest.

Wtfdoipick · 30/12/2021 11:28

Me, daughter got it i didn't, yes we reasonably isolated from each other once we knew but had normal household contact prior to her testing positive. This was 2 weeks before Christmas

wallyrag · 30/12/2021 11:28

Me. In July in a house with five positive people constantly

RickyZooom · 30/12/2021 11:29

My husband is still testing negative despite not isolating from (positive) me - coughing and spluttering all night next to him! He’s triple vax’d. 4/5 days after my first symptoms.

Lovelydovey · 30/12/2021 11:31

DH, DS1 and I didn’t catch it from DS2 despite not isolating him within the house. I even shared a bed with him at times and had him sneeze on me. But I am boosted and have had quite a lot of contact with covid over the past year without catching it (or if I did was asymptomatic).

Teddypoops · 30/12/2021 11:40

DH and DS both had it, but me and DD have not. I’m boosted, but don’t know how DD has avoided!

Frazzled2207 · 30/12/2021 11:41

Yes dh and ds. Didn’t distance from them at all.

Tulipomania · 30/12/2021 11:41

Following with interest. I would also like to know if you have avoided it after recent exposure whether you had the booster and how recently.

VikingOnTheFridge · 30/12/2021 11:43

Me! Probably not omicron though.

booboo2022 · 30/12/2021 11:46

Yes, DH caught it. We didn't social distance and continued to share a bed etc and I never caught it. DC did, but they are to young to be vaccinated.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 30/12/2021 11:46

Yes, close contact on the 22nd (went for a meal as a group and I was seated next to the person who tested positive) and didn't catch it.

booboo2022 · 30/12/2021 11:46

I had had the booster about 2 weeks before

Stickystickystick · 30/12/2021 11:49

I've had a close contact and didn't catch it but had my booster just over 2 weeks before so think I had good immunity because of that. I also work patient facing and not had it as yet

NobbyButtons · 30/12/2021 11:49

When my daughter had covid before Christmas, she slept in the same bed as me, hugged me, breathed on me etc and I didn't catch it. My nephew had covid earlier this year and felt quite rough for a few days, but his parents didn't catch it off him either. (We are all fully vaccinated).

Welliesandpyjamas · 30/12/2021 11:50

DH still testing negative after being exposed to it by me and some of DC. He's an early years teacher and been coughed on, sneezed on, spat on, etc throughout, including several times by children with known positive cases at home (thanks school office 👍 top notch communication). Maybe he's immune!

LadyCleathStuart · 30/12/2021 11:50

My parents had a friend in their house for a cup of tea who tested positive the next day and neither of them caught it.

My brother had it a few weeks ago and SIL and Nephew didn't catch it.

FIL had it at the start of the year and MIL didn't catch it.

confusedofengland · 30/12/2021 11:51

Yes, DH! Dses & I all had it in October, he didn't get it then even though we shared a bed etc. Then we had large family gathering on Christmas Day, all tested negative on the morning. Subsequently every person there except DNiece 13 & DH has either tested positive or had it before (me & DSes).

Also, my late MIL, DH's mum, who died from dementia in the summer never got it. She stayed alone with DFiL throughout & he caught it in March 2020 & was quite bad with it, narrowly avoided hospital. She also never caught chicken pox in her 72 years, I wonder if there is some kind of link.

Iamkmackered1979 · 30/12/2021 11:52

My 3 sons
One has had it, I have had their dad had it but my 10 year old asthmatic is yet to catch it despite lots of opportunities nor have my 16 or 20 year olds. My friends entire family have managed to avoid it (6 of them) despite working in schools and healthcare etc hope you don’t get it op,

Waxonwaxoff0 · 30/12/2021 11:53

I have not had the booster. Had Covid in August (most probably Delta variant) and second Pfizer vaccination at the end of September.
oviraptor21 · 30/12/2021 11:54

Have been living with family for two weeks now, three of whom have tested positive and I still haven't got it ...... I'm waiting my turn 😂

oviraptor21 · 30/12/2021 11:54

I had the booster in November
