Just that really, I’ve been a contact a lot but never caught it, I know it’s strange but I just wish I could catch it so I can stop anticipating it. Anyone else the same

Yes I know what you mean. I’ve come to terms with the fact that we’re all going to get it sooner or later so I’d rather just have it over and done with.

Dd tested positive a week ago so thought/hoped we’d all get it at the same time but we’re all negative so far. The thought of having back to back isolations isn’t appealing!

WakeUpLockie · 27/12/2021 14:23

Nope. I’ve not had it and surely even now most people have not (I am shit at maths so May be wrong). But not wishing to get it! Had 3 jabs :)

SadSplinter · 27/12/2021 14:23

I’ve got colleagues who have had twice, so there is no getting it once and it’s over with, I’m afraid.

WakeUpLockie · 27/12/2021 14:23

I barely know anyone who has had covid.

WorraLiberty · 27/12/2021 14:24

I said this to DH last night, along with 'I know I should be careful what I wish for but...'

Our 19yr old DS tested positive last night on a LFT and he's really not well today, so we might be about to get it anyway.

WorraLiberty · 27/12/2021 14:25

Sorry, forgot to add that DH reminded me his friend has just tested positive for the second time this year.

HangingOutWithTheSandman · 27/12/2021 14:26

But you could get it again.

I‘ve not had it and happy to keep avoiding it.

MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry · 27/12/2021 14:27

Don’t be silly. That’s like saying you wish you had the cold just so you could stop anticipating it Hmm

rainrainraincamedowndowndown · 27/12/2021 14:32

No. No one in my family had it yet, including those extended families on both my side and dh's side. I'd love to keep it that way.

Momof2boys1girl · 27/12/2021 14:34

I know I’m strange but it’s how my mind works 🤣

I got it on the 22nd December (headache and runny nose), all better by 16.00 on 24th and I know exactly what you mean. I was vomiting down the toilet bowl on xmas eve morning but still thinking to myself, ''ok, so this is it. I'm not dying, I can breath. I've dodged it for two years and I can't run any longer!'' Ha ha.

CouldBeHere · 27/12/2021 14:38

I know exactly what you mean OP. I feel the same way.

I don't think you're silly. And I know you can get it twice etc, or maybe 10 times or 20 times, but at least I know I'm protected for the next few months!

Others may think you're mad but [tips hat] I get you

With a cold you can carry on normal life if it lets you. With covid you need to factor in at least 7 maybe 10 days isolation and possible loss of earnings. It may therefore be advantageous to have it during the holidays.

It's nothing like a cold in this respect.

ivykaty44 · 27/12/2021 14:41

No, because the next variant is likely to be milder, and the next milder. I’d rather get it in a couple of years time than last year

zafferana · 27/12/2021 14:41

Um ... no! I haven't had it (that I know of) and neither have any of my family (which is a bit of a miracle really), but no, I'm not eager to get it. I accept that sooner or later one of us will get it, but I'm happy to wait!

UserError012345 · 27/12/2021 14:44

Me!!!! Both DC have had. I have not. I'd rather it be now than another inconvenient point in the future.

BUTTTT hopefully moving to no isolation so it might be better to have later on.

UserBot99 · 27/12/2021 14:45

I thought I had norovirus until I read in the paper that one of the four top symptoms of omicron is vomiting, so touch wood the next version doesn't have the vomiting.

It wasn't that bad though. I felt a real sense of relief that I was coping with what I'd been running from (metaphorically, emotionally, as well as with masks, vaccines and sanitising and distancing) for two years.

It generates anxiety and to have it finally despite everything and still know that I was ok, here I was, puking down the toilet bowl with a headache but ok I felt sort of reassured.

if you don't get that, you don't get it, horses for courses etc but I think some others know what I mean!

BigotSpigot · 27/12/2021 14:46

Double jabbed and still so ill at nearly 2 weeks in. You really don't want this as you just don't know if you are going to have a 'cold', spend weeks in bed, or worse....

I get this op! I was so relieved when we finally got it and am so much more relaxed about it now. I know we could get it again, but it was bit a big deal for anyone in my family, so we can at least be fairly confident that it wouldn’t be a big deal if we did have a second dose. It’s the unknown that causes a lot of anxiety for me.

That sounds like even less reason to hope you get it. Anyway I was talking about how transmissible it is and the likelihood OP will get it.

littlepeas · 27/12/2021 14:48

Sorry, that should say it was NOT a big deal!
