PCR this morning- test turnaround

My husband had a PCR at 10am today and was told to expect results in 3-5 working days. I had one last week and the results were with me within 10hrs. When we've had them in the past they've always been returned within 24 hours max.

Just wondering if 3-5 days is the usual advice or whether it's longer over the Christmas period. What will be will be but I'm just interested to know and if anyone else had a morning PCR I hope it comes back negative soon!

My mum had one at 12pm on Xmas Eve and was told it would be 24 hours. However, no results back yet!

Our tests in recent months have always been between 10-25 hours, however the most recent from last Thursday is on 73 hours and counting now..

They usually say 48 hours (most of ours have been much less but never as quick as 10 hours!). So I would think 3-5 days is to account for delays due to Christmas and the volume of tests

In my experience they always say 3-5 days and it's always been 24 hours. But yes the volume right now must be through the roof

I'm on 96 hours and requested a chaser this morning, was told it could take a further 3 days.

My DC had one on Tuesday. Nothing yet.

Oh crap. Crap crap crap.

I went this morning told 3-5 days but I need to know before I go back to work on Wednesday.

I had one 11am Christmas Eve. 24 hour turn around.

2 PCRs done 10am Xmas morning, one positive back at 6am boxing day, quickest ever . The other, which I feel will be negative (due to lft results/symptoms/contact exposures) etc) still we're waiting for .
I might have lost the plot with the stress and upset of last minute plan changes but I am wondering whether there's some sort of conspiracy to slow negative results, to cause a sort of natural isolation extension whilst people wait.....

Okay so quite a range of different experiences. At least we have lots of prosecco and chocolates to keep us going. Fingers crossed it's back by 28th for our family meal.

The queue at our booking only drove thru was huge this morning at 10am and we live in a low rate area!!

Not expecting them back any time soon tbh. DD just being ultra cautious as she has a few friends that are unwell.

Had mine yesterday pm and results back about 9am today however there was no one at the test site when I went yesterday and I like ooop norrrth where I believe our omicron rates aren’t as high yet so maybe depends on your area

4pm Christmas Eve. Still waiting. Lateral flow positive this morning was neg yesterday

I did mine on Christmas Day and got it in 24 hours. I bet it varies area to area though.

What sort of area are you in @R0tational? I'm south east, going to test today, hoping to see my bf on the 28th.

Did one at 10am today, but due to got to work (hospital doctor) tomorrow and I'm 4h away staying with family. Can't leave to go home/work till result gets back.

I did mine 11.30 Christmas Eve and not heard a thing in Suffolk..
saw a friend of mine did hers Christmas Eve and heard back yesterday 🤷‍♀️ seems to be no rhyme or reason for it tbh but frustrating (although I feel like shit so fairly sure I know the answer already)

Did one 9.30am Christmas Eve, got the email at midnight last night.

I posted mine on Thurs morning, I'm still waiting for my results

Friend did one at 2.30pm (drive thru) Christmas Eve and got the result on Christmas Day at 11.30am this is West Midlands.
