If you've had Covid in the last fortnight, what were your symptoms?

Hi,
Just wondering how severely ill most people have been with covid (particularly Omicron) in the last couple of weeks. I know there is some discussion of Omicron being milder but there's a difference between being really quite ill but just not needing hospital treatment versus just having cold symptoms.

I am on day 10. Started with lethargy, a strange feeling of unreality, vivid dreams, tickly throat, and disturbed sleep. Then progressed to extreme fatigue, shivering, nausea, cough, upper back pain, complete loss of taste and smell, headache.

I am feeling better today but I can honestly say it’s the worst I have ever felt, and I have had both jabs.

Pigeonpair1 · 24/12/2021 12:32

Tested positive Sunday 19th. Had had awful cold the week before but negative LFT's every day. Extreme fatigue for me, temperature and very bunged up. If I didn't have Christmas to prepare for it would have been OK, just like a normal cold/virus but I have just had to take things steady and have lots of rests in between energy bursts!!

Nsws2015 · 24/12/2021 12:42

I tested positive on Wednesday afternoon, dd15 tested positive Monday night and if anyone was gonna catch it from her it was always going to be me. Dd had a day of feeling bad with a high temp and aches, sweats and chills then been fine.
Wednesday morning I was negative, went for a bath after getting the toddler to bed as I ached and had a sore throat, did a nose and throat swab when I got out as I ached so bad and it came up with a line straight away, so in the space of a few hours I went from negative to positive!
Yesterday was awful, painkillers dulled the headache but didn't take it away completely, my whole body hurt, I hardly slept Wednesday night because my throat was sore and I kept going hot and cold and coughing. Today is pretty much the same but with added blocked nose, lower back ache and chest pain, which I assume is from the coughing. I get out of breath easily and just feel completely wiped out. I even cried this morning, I don't think until that point my husband had realised just how bad I felt. We are waiting on pcr results atm from tests last night, mine to confirm the lft, but so far my dh and ds13 are testing negative daily and absolutely fine, toddler I haven't tested until last night's pcr but given his close proximity to me I assume he will probably be positive too, if not I will be shocked!

boysarethebest · 24/12/2021 12:54

Started on Sunday with slight tickle on nose and headache. Then awful two day headache, that eased on Weds then just felt kind of coldy, nose is blocked up but sort of dry which is odd. Feeling a bit better today but have been exhausted, only tested positive yday on lft but have been isolating as ex husband gave it to my sons last week and they have it to me. I had original covid in March 2020, was worse then but would not have been able to work this week if wasn't on leave. Am triple vaccinated since October, I really hope this was omicron not delta

Glamping1234 · 24/12/2021 12:58

Feverish/flu like symptoms, headache, no energy, nausea, snotty and sneezing, loosing my taste and smell - although that could be due to having a bunged up nose.

I'm on day 5 now feeling okay if I don't do too much!.

prettymum · 24/12/2021 13:07

Did a pcr last Sat as asked by work due to cases on wards I covered. Had cold like symptoms after Sunday/Mon sneezing, runny nose and cough, lft positive on Tuesday and pcr positive result came through Thursday. Double jabbed and boostered since October.

sallywinter · 24/12/2021 13:09

Me: Tired, sore throat, bunged up… not something I’d take time off work for. Mid thirties, no health conditions, Boostered.

1 year old: persistent cough and temp, gallons of snot, a bit miserable

onemouseplace · 24/12/2021 13:11

We knew it was circulating, so when I had headache for a couple of days I tested. Fatigue, shivers, headache for a couple of days, then got a stuffy nose and now it just feels like a cold that is gradually shifting. My sense of smell has gone, but I can still taste.

I was triple vaxxed as of September.

BringBackThinEyebrows · 24/12/2021 13:24

I've got covid for the first time. My appetite has decreased slightly but otherwise I'm absolutely fine.

Metalhead · 24/12/2021 13:40

I tested positive on 8 Dec, don’t know if it was Delta or Omicron. First couple of days I could literally not go longer than a minute without sneezing or blowing my nose, was very tired and had a terrible headache too. Then got a cough, though that wasn’t too bad. Lost sense of taste & smell on day 5, which is only just coming back. Overall, I was feeling quite rough for 4-5 days, although wasn’t totally bed bound. I’m still hoping I won’t get it again!

AD80 · 24/12/2021 13:47

Head cold symptoms with sinus pain. It was all upper respiratory. No chest or breathing issues. Did have a ever so slight tickly cough from a tickle in my throat. My chest felt fine. I'm grateful I got over it quickly.

user290814356289 · 24/12/2021 14:15

Runny nose, scratchy throat, couldn't smell a thing but could taste a few things.

No wheezing or excessive coughing or anything like that, it was more like a heavy cold for a few days.

MKCH · 24/12/2021 16:52

I tested positive on a LFT today, waiting for PCR results.
I have basically no symptoms apart from a slightly blocked nose. I only did the LFT ahead of family coming to ours for Christmas tomorrow and Sunday.

Suranjeep · 24/12/2021 18:16

@Prokupatuscrakedatus

I have just received my 'recovered' note. Almost 60, with an autoimmune desease, and 2 vaccinations. No fever, no cough, no loss of taste or smell, - two years ago I would have called what I had an 'ordinary seasonal infection' and ignored it.
Who gives you a recovered not and what’s the requirements?

I’ve had a positive PCR this week and like you in the past my symptoms would have been considered a bad cold.

IdontPracticeSanteria · 24/12/2021 18:19

Well I took a PCR this morning.
Had a positive lateral flow at home while I await PCR results.

Pretty much just sore throat and slightly stuffy nose.

Spacecadetagain · 24/12/2021 18:29

Dd (11) came out of isolation yesterday (as I’m officially allowed out she wasn’t locked in her room !) tested positive on LFT in the 14th , positive PCR a few days later . She had a mild snotty nose and a headache for 48 hours and never felt unwell .

Grumpysister · 24/12/2021 18:37

Nothing - literally zero symptoms Confused
Triple vaxxed but only had the booster a week before I tested positive so presumably it wasn’t offering much protection at that point Hmm

LizzieW1969 · 24/12/2021 20:49

My DD2 (9) had it a couple of weeks ago, which meant she missed the end of term. She had a cough, sore throat and very bad earache. We were told that they were analysing her test to see if it was Omicron and if it was we would be hearing from them. We didn’t hear anything so we assumed it was Delta.

She was fine on the fourth day, thankfully, so it was all in all pretty painless. In contrast to me, who has Long Covid!

StayingHoHoHome · 24/12/2021 23:29

Tested positive last night and had very mild cold symptoms, was very surprised it was positive

Gone massively downhill in last few hours. Red hot, sweating through my clothes, deep, painful chesty cough and regular long coughing fits. I thought I'd got a mild case but apparently not. I'm 7 weeks pregnant and so worried about that too Sad

Mallowmarshmallow · 24/12/2021 23:36

I had a sore throat and headache on Wednesday morning which I didn't really think much of (I didn't go out anyway), felt fine Thursday daytime then crashed in the evening, pounding headache, exhausted etc. Did LFT - positive. Had a very sweaty night although no temperature.

Today, I just feel stuffy headed, have coughed a little bit and sneezed a couple of times end had a positive PCR today.

I'm hoping that Thursday was the worst of it and it's upwards from here on in.

Does anyone know which day I should count as day one? Wednesday? Or Thursday?

MajesticWhine · 24/12/2021 23:59

Thursday is your day one. Tuesday and Wednesday are your day 6 and 7 so if you teat negative LTF on both those days you can then stop isolating.
I had notification from nhs test and trace on when the 10 day isolation ends - you should receive that too.

MarchingOnTogether · 25/12/2021 00:22

DS - cough & was tired for a few days
Me - very slight scratchy throat for a couple of days, then became a cold, mostly a blocked nose and bad sinus headache for about 3-4 days.
DD - no symptoms

MKCH · 25/12/2021 09:51

@MKCH

I tested positive on a LFT today, waiting for PCR results. I have basically no symptoms apart from a slightly blocked nose. I only did the LFT ahead of family coming to ours for Christmas tomorrow and Sunday.
Still waiting for PCR results but have woken up today with barely any sense of taste or smell. Some, but not much. No other symptoms still!
Richtea2 · 06/01/2022 19:54

Hi all,

I have a very blocked nose and cough which is not bad. Everything feels mild and lateral flow test is negative and ordered PCR.
My colleague said I sounded chesty and I thought I couldn't taste my tea. But still can taste a bit.
I couldn't breathe last night. This does seem mild.

Yoyokitten · 18/02/2022 12:07

I'm 70, and tested positive yesterday. I was meeting a friend for lunch, so always test before I meet anyone.A strong red line came up immediately, I was a bit surprised, but now I think back i had a few symptoms 2 days before.
Headachy joint pains and sniffles.. All mild.
We went to an exhibition at our local rececourse a week ago. We sanitised as always, wore masks all day except in the restaurant, but noticed hardly anyone else wore masks at all.
Day 2 and I feel worse in a way. Spaced out, hot and cold, breathless and so tired.
Hope it doesn't get any worse. I'm also triple jabbed. All over body aches too, but I don't feel ill as such.
