If you've had Covid in the last fortnight, what were your symptoms?

Hi,
Just wondering how severely ill most people have been with covid (particularly Omicron) in the last couple of weeks. I know there is some discussion of Omicron being milder but there's a difference between being really quite ill but just not needing hospital treatment versus just having cold symptoms.

Im on day 10. Caught it from DC1. I had complete body aches, especially my lower back, for abut 48 hours. Really bad headache, sore throat and extreme tiredness.

This developed into the worst cold I have ever had - my nose has been so congested for over a week that i cant remember ever being able to breathe through my nose. I also have a painful ear ache, coughing up green phlegm etc. Ive also been sick multiple times a day.

Put all of this down to Covid, but after getting no better at all in the past week, I contacted my GP who prescribed antibiotics yesterday and Im already feeling a bit better. Im not sure how much of me being ill was covid and how much is a bacterial infection, but I wouldn't wish my past 10 days on anyone - its been horrendous.

DC1 obviously was fine after about 3 days and quite enjoyed his forced isolation with xbox, all streaming devices on TV etc. I on the other hand have NOT enjoyed this time at all.

DH, DC2 & DC3 have come through this unscathed and have tested negative everyday on lfts.

Dry throat and cough, kind of fluey feeling where your limbs feel heavy and very tired. I'm double vaccinated and no booster yet. It wasn't awful, I was still functioning. DH and kids had no symptoms at all.

DailyMailHater · 24/12/2021 07:55

How do you know it was Omnicron, test just tells you if you have Covid or not - not which strain.

MummyofTw0 · 24/12/2021 07:56

Extreme fatigue

alongwayhome · 24/12/2021 08:02

I haven't but DH did. He started with an occasional cough that he described as a tickle (probably coughed once every couple of hours, barely noticeable)

Next day he had a stuffy nose which cleared up overnight.

That was it. If I wasn't so paranoid about covid as I have a vulnerable relative he wouldn't have even tested, he had no headache, no temp, no feeling ill at all.

wtftodo · 24/12/2021 08:23

I’m on day 12. Woke up on day 1 with an absolutely splitting headache, 39.8 degree temp, chills etc. Was like that for 48 hours. Then exhausted and coughy ever since though it has got a bit better every 2-4 days. The cough started as a slight dry tickle, I thought it was reflux but turned into a productive cough. It’s occasional rather than constant but hard to shake once it comes on.

Not really had any cold symptoms, was stuffed up for a bit but dry if that makes sense.. like hay fever maybe. Taste and smell slightly reduced after a few days but not hugely.

wtftodo · 24/12/2021 08:24

Oh and DP had no symptoms at all. None. After a few days thought his taste was a bit weird with some things and he noticed his performance at his exercise was not as good as usual. That’s it, he only tested because I did

trying29 · 24/12/2021 08:27

They sequence some tests and let people know. That’s how I know I had delta in may, and so I can presume I have omicron
@chocolateoranges33 that is how my delta infection was. I hope you feel better soon

Hamnet · 24/12/2021 08:38

I am triple jabbed. Feel awful. Achy, tried, splitting headache, blocked nose, cough, palpitations. I’m on Day 5 and every day has been the same. Not bad enough to be in bed as paracetamol toes the edge off, but not good enough to enjoy anything.

DD15 has it and had 24 hours in bed with high fever, splitting headache and nausea. She has never had a day in bed in her life. She then felt mainly better but can’t taste anything.

snackcurator · 24/12/2021 08:50

Tested positive on PCR on Wednesday after a close contact. I've got a headache, bit of a sore throat and achy body. Also feeling very tired.

cumulonimbus523 · 24/12/2021 09:10

Not me, but sister (mid 20s) developed symptoms and tested positive 3 days ago. She had body aches (moderate), a sinus headache thing and was tired. 24 hours later she felt a bit rubbish but said if she didn't have to isolate she'd have gone to work as normal. Today she's a bit tired but otherwise absolutely fine.

Milkshake54 · 24/12/2021 09:12

I have had it, but test and trace said it was delta 🤷🏼‍♀️.
I had one day of being bed bound, but I have a 1 year old, so I don't have the opportunity to rest like I used to.
I did nap a few times when the baby did.

I had headache, fever and chills (lasted less than 24 hours and felt rough with this, but once it went - was just a cold), sore throat, a little bit more tired than usual, cough - but the most annoying thing is my ear is still blocked and I have tinnitus 😩

Chely · 24/12/2021 09:33

Started out achy, enough to miss going in the gym (stayed out as not wise to do barbell squats with a persistent cough). Cough, runny nose then congestion. Our 4mth old was similar, had very disturbed sleep at night (but slept more than usual overall) and was a bit off her milk.

Our older kids had it earlier in the year. 3 had a temp, headache and were off their food for a few days. 2 of them had a cough but no other symptoms and their usual active selves.

madmomma · 24/12/2021 09:37

Very mild cold for me and dh, no problem at all. Both double jabbed but no booster yet

SoupDragon · 24/12/2021 09:45

DS just had a sore throat for a couple of days and that could actually have been passed off as due to too much shouting when he went clubbing and to watch football a few days before. If not for the fact that someone he was with tested positive on the Monday, we wouldn't have known as he wasn't ill at all.

hopelessatthinkingupusernames · 24/12/2021 09:52

Day before I tested positive I felt awful, achy all over and absolutely freezing all day. Since then it’s just been like having a cold.

Test and Protect still only asking about a cough and temperature though!

ALittleOldLadyTookInHerGoat · 24/12/2021 10:01

Started tired, dizzy weird, painful aches in hips. Chesty, congested but no snot, exhausted. Aches better but cough started, generally feeling wiped.. sore lymph glands in arm pits. My smell and taste went on day 4. Single parent looking after a poorly child also means I don't get naps. This child is restless snd doesnt go to sleep quickly at night so almost zero down time. 😭

JoMumsnet · 24/12/2021 10:11

We're just moving this thread over to our Coronavirus topic.

Brew Cake to everyone who's feeling ill.

CharlotteRose90 · 24/12/2021 10:46

I’m currently positive. Mine started as a sore throat and feeling very tired. Then moved on to bad cold symptoms, feeling aches and being cold all the time. My smell has also gone and so has my appetite. Oh and I have a cough. In my house me and my mum both tested positive so atleast neither of us is alone.

Spuriously17windows · 24/12/2021 11:09

Symptoms started Tuesday afternoon - aches and pains. Antigen test positive. A bit tired, went to bed at 8 and slept for 12 hours and woke up Wednesday feeling 90%. Went for PCR which was positive. Since then I’ve had a bit of a sore throat, but otherwise totally ok. Bit of a bastard self isolating over XmasSad

Sd352 · 24/12/2021 11:14

Tested positive last Monday. Started with just sniffles. Was working (from home) as normal on Tuesday morning and then started feeling really tired. Developed a high fever by Tuesday night (got up to 39.3, with Lemsip). Very achy and tired. Slept for hours, called in sick on Wednesday and spent the day resting. Was back to almost normal by Thursday again, with just a light sniffle and feeling a bit more tired than normal. Felt perfectly fine Thursday - Monday despite also being on my period but then felt very tired again this past Tuesday and Wednesday. Perfectly normal now and testing negative on lateral flow tests.

Double-jabbed with Moderna. Was meant to get my booster last Wednesday but obviously had to cancel that.

Sd352 · 24/12/2021 11:16

Oh, and DH also tested positive. He was feeling very tired last Sunday but I thought it was a hangover as we had had a party on Saturday. He mostly had cold type symptoms and a cough (I didn’t have a cough but just a slightly scratchy throat). No fever for him though.

Blubells · 24/12/2021 11:38

Any of you not vaccinated at all yet? Any of you not yet boostered?

Picklesbaby · 24/12/2021 11:59

Double jabbed , + lat flow test on morning I was due my booster .
Extreme tiredness first night
Followed by Shivers, fever sweats ,loss of taste and smell, wheeze /constant breathless ,confusion
Headache & a every bit of my body ache
Cough only started on day 7 but I still have it now as well as a constant headache
Delta 3 weeks ago

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/12/2021 12:07

I have just received my 'recovered' note.
Almost 60, with an autoimmune desease, and 2 vaccinations.
No fever, no cough, no loss of taste or smell, - two years ago I would have called what I had an 'ordinary seasonal infection' and ignored it.
