If you've had Covid in the last fortnight, what were your symptoms?

Hi,
Just wondering how severely ill most people have been with covid (particularly Omicron) in the last couple of weeks. I know there is some discussion of Omicron being milder but there's a difference between being really quite ill but just not needing hospital treatment versus just having cold symptoms.

OP posts:

I have it. It started with a sore throat. Then headache, fever, joint pain, chills and generally feeling crap. Sore throat has disappeared. I am in london so probably omicron. So far it's about the same as any bad cold or flu that I've had. I do get a fever quite easily.
I do feel like absolute shite but I hope it won't be serious - it's a bit too soon to say.

rosesarereddish · 24/12/2021 00:32

Tested positive tonight. Thought I just had a cold. My nose is really blocked, my ears feel really blocked and one of them is ringing and I've got a cough. That's it Sad Covid positive, all plans are ruined and pregnant and feeling rough as it is. Merry bloody Christmas.

I tested positive with a runny nose, sore throat and a tiny cough (more to do with a scratchy throat) that moved to exhaustion and loss of taste/ smell for about 5 days.

It was delta though, it was NE England a couple of weeks ago

edwinbear · 24/12/2021 00:40

Started with a banging headache and sore throat, then progressed to aches, and a cough. Same for DH. I was in bed for a couple of days but not in need of any medical treatment. I’m on day 6 now and feel pretty much back to normal, same for DH. DD (10) had a headache and slept a lot, DS (12) had no symptoms at all. DH and I both double jabbed and boosted, DS has had his first, DD too young for vaccination yet. DH and I were the most ill we’ve been in a long time, but fine at home sleeping and taking paracetamol.

Redlocks28 · 24/12/2021 00:42

Not me, but DD.

Headache, sore throat, tired, sneezing and pale.

NuffSaidSam · 24/12/2021 00:44

Horrendous headache
Achey/fluey feeling, like when your skin hurts.
Fever/Chills
Then that all passed after a few days and just left with slightly runny nose and bit of a cough, like a very minor cold.

I felt really rubbish, but nowhere near needing medical assistance.

StormBaby · 24/12/2021 00:48

I’m on day 6. Started with a sore croaky throat. Was like a very bad, snotty, sneezy bunged up cold. I have been bedridden at times, and felt very unwell, but not serious. I have lost my tastebuds and been confused at times too, which was bizarre

hellosunshineagainx · 24/12/2021 00:57

Partner was positive so I was taking lateral flows every day, eventually testing positive, my only symptoms have been a very mild runny nose and literally the odd cough. I come out of isolation xmas day. His symptoms were a mild cough and slight headache but someone at work tested positive so he did a lateral flow and tested positive

NuckingFightmare · 24/12/2021 01:12

Started with runny nose and sneezing, bit of a cough. Then massive headache, feeling like my head might pop and a bit achy. No smell although I can still taste a little bit. And bloody tired!
In short, I feel like boiled shite but don't need medical assistance, although my lovely Dr rang me when they were notified of positive pcr, because I have asthma. He then dropped off a pulse oximetry thingy, bless him !

Eyerollsausageroll · 24/12/2021 01:43

Tested positive this week. Croaky voice, sore lower throat, pulsing headache (goes away with ibuprofen) generally feel a bit tired/achey but no breathing issues, no cough, no temperature, no change to taste or smell.
Horrible time of year to isolate, but thankful for the mild symptoms so far.

Choccyp1g · 24/12/2021 01:51

Feverish, sore throat, tossing and turning all night last Wednesday. Tested negative Thursday am, positive in evening. Since then it's been a nasty cold, very slowly improving. Got all excited about being allowed out after 7 days, but lft yesterday was clearly positive. Now I've got bit of a dodgy belly. Been totally off food the whole time. Think it's Omicron, as I'm only about 2 days behind DS who I caught it from. He had much worse fever but is fully recovered now. I'm triple jabbed he's double.

Choccyp1g · 24/12/2021 01:52

Croaky voice too. Hardly any cough.

BridgeFarmKefir · 24/12/2021 06:52

Mild cough which overnight became all over aches, going hot & cold, headache. Felt rubbish for a couple of days, felt ok for a couple, and then felt rubbish again with added nausea.

Two weeks later I'm still really tired and have a lingering cough.

loveautum · 24/12/2021 06:58

I tested positive on the 13 of December on a lateral flow. My husband wanted to try the tests as plan was we would test before my elderly parents come at Christmas and I just had a stuffy nose that was it and tested positive. Husband tested negative.

The next day I had a croaky voice and my sense of smell and taste had been switched off overnight. I'm now out of isolation and finally starting to smell strong scents like coffee and I was able to taste mustard on a sandwich yesterday.

I was very worried if my senses would be affected in the long term. I read that 70% of people get their sense of smell and taste back. This is definitely different to a cold for me as the cold symptoms were so mild and disappeared so quickly. By the Saturday I was testing negative which was 5 days later. I definitely realised that I haven't caught COVID until recently.

itoldyouyouwouldntlikeit · 24/12/2021 07:05

I had a headache for less than 24 hours, slightly lightheaded, and most importantly OFF MY FOOD!!! But I was pretty much bad to normal in a few days, just tired, which could be normal to be fair, I'm always tired

Alaimo · 24/12/2021 07:09

Day 1: scratchy throat. Day 2 & 3: feverish. Day 3&4: worst headache I've ever had. Started to feel better after that. Have also been coughing throughout and still have a bit of a cough 11 days later.

Smileyaxolotl1 · 24/12/2021 07:09

One night of minor fever. Few sniffles. Fee coughs. I would have gone to work each day if it hadn’t been covid.

MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat · 24/12/2021 07:10

My 4 year old has it. Very intense but short lived symptoms. Came on very suddenly like flu, he had a fever, headache, said his eyes were hurting, felt hot and cold, body aches and shivering, severe stomachache, vomiting and was a little confused and unsteady on his feet. This all lasted one day, put him to bed early and he woke up the next morning bouncing around the house back to normal.

Elizabeth110100 · 24/12/2021 07:11

It started off with a congested feeling in the back of my nose then a bit of a cold, then a scratchy feeling in my throat. This then went tickly and an annoying dry cough started. I wasn't really very ill but the cough was annoying.

Minikievs · 24/12/2021 07:25

I have it. Started with feeling like I was coming down with a cold. Slight sore throat, general aches and pains, headache, but no runny nose.
Felt dreadful for one day, now just generally a bit grotty, that's all.
I'm double jabbed but nit boosted-was due to have it the day I tested positive 🙄

trying29 · 24/12/2021 07:30

I have it now. I had delta in may which was far worse. I am triple jabbed - I have a sore throat, cough and bit of a blocked nose but nothing more than that. No chills etc. I’m on day 4 so perhaps that will change?!

CupcakeGirl1 · 24/12/2021 07:30

I have it. Started with a headache, very small cough and a sniffle with sneezing. Very mild. Day 2 post symptoms were the "worst". On day 5 now and feel pretty much normal

RockallMalinHebrides · 24/12/2021 07:31

DH and I have it - we are both triple jabbed. No idea if it is omicron as we haven’t been told. Would be interested to know how others have found out.

DH - very high temp and confusion which led to a 3 day hospital stay. (He is immune compromised)

Me - cough, sore throat, loss of taste and smell, sinus pain, headache

DS (14) has also tested positive and just had a cough.

Theywalkamongstus · 24/12/2021 07:33

Same. Horrendous headaches, exhausted, shivery and flu-like with sore skin. Was fine after a few days.
