When they say that 5-11 year olds can have the vaccine.. will your 5-11 year old be having it?

They have put this through in USA so guessing it will come soon here.
I would have it for my DD but my husband doesn’t want her to.
What are you going to do?

I’m leaning towards yes although I do wonder how long an updated version will take because it’s becoming increasingly clear that omicron is a game changer.

Magicalwoodlands · 15/12/2021 22:25

I would prefer to avoid it but it looks inevitable.

KurtWildesChristmasNamechange · 15/12/2021 22:26

No

CherryRedDMs · 15/12/2021 22:28

Yes, once she turns 5

NoseringGirl · 15/12/2021 22:28

Yes

madmomma · 15/12/2021 22:28

No

Vuvuvuzela · 15/12/2021 22:29

Absolutely he'll have it

milkysmum · 15/12/2021 22:29

Yes. My 12 year old has had hers, and my 10 year old is asking when he can have his done also.

dollywoodlooksgood · 15/12/2021 22:29

Yes, but I agree with @Cornettoninja on wondering about an updated version. And I think they will approve it quite soon.

dollywoodlooksgood · 15/12/2021 22:29

Approve the Pfizer vaccine for 5-11 year olds, not an updated version, I mean!

Ohnomoreno · 15/12/2021 22:30

I don't want to but we won't really have a choice if we ever want to travel again.

Booklover3 · 15/12/2021 22:30

No

Booklover3 · 15/12/2021 22:30

To clarify… not at this point, no.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 15/12/2021 22:31

10yo... definitely. She'll start Secondary school in the summer.

8yo... probably.

elliejjtiny · 15/12/2021 22:32

Yes. Especially looking forward to my 7 year old getting it as he has autism and is a super spreader of germs.

mamatoTails · 15/12/2021 22:32

8-11 year olds started getting their 1st doses today here in Spain.
My children aren't having it.

Eldest is 13 and one of only a handful in his school not to be vaccinated. I'm guessing the majority of younger kids here will also be vaccinated.

Avarua · 15/12/2021 22:33

Depends if it affects their ability to travel

Gingerlovesbiscuits · 15/12/2021 22:33

Yes. American kids in that age group already vaccinated. They will be in a much better position facing Omicron.

maddy68 · 15/12/2021 22:33

In my country they've been vaccinating 5+ for a while. The vast majority have had it

HerculesMulligan · 15/12/2021 22:34

Yes. My 7yo tested positive for covid last weekend. So far no-one else in the house has it, which is a huge relief as my husband is CEV and we've been shielding him very closely since this began. I will happily vaccinate him, and if they extend it to younger children (perhaps just to those in CEV families), I'd seriously consider it for my 2yo. We've just vaccinated her against flu to protect my husband, so why not?

dilly123 · 15/12/2021 22:34

No way!

Charles11 · 15/12/2021 22:35

No chance.
They’ve already had covid and it was mild. I’m not risking any side effects.

Cheesewiz · 15/12/2021 22:36

No

MsFestiveReindeer · 15/12/2021 22:36

My DD is 11 and she'll be having it as soon as she can. She's currently got covid and has got away relatively lightly with it. She'd still like the vaccine though, and I still want her to have it.

Didifuckitup · 15/12/2021 22:37

Not a chance.
