... I just think he is amazing and so straight talking. He knows his stuff and seems down to earth. I love the way he handles the questions from the press and concentrates on the task in hand.

He should receive a Knighthood

Againstmachine · 15/12/2021 21:46

Out of date and false are 2 entirely different things - so the later modeling showed different projections. What's to say the next update to the modelling would have shown a better or worse projection? You make the best decision you can on ALL the data in front of you at the time you have it, not just a small snapshot. You clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

Using out of date data when upto date data is available is lieing and falsyfiing facts.

why did the statistics authority get involved. Do they have no idea what they are on about as well.

Stop being so pretentious and see whats in front of you false facts were used.

@BathTangle

Just love this....

Brilliant!!

Legoninjago1 · 15/12/2021 21:48

He's an amazing man and the one who makes me feel like we are being looked and and protected.

Legoninjago1 · 15/12/2021 21:48

*looked after

Octavia174 · 15/12/2021 21:49

I don't like him, the UK has not handled the pandemic well and he has never criticised BJ, not over Cummings, late lockdowns, shaking patients hands, herd immunity or even last years parties.

So i'm not really sure of his impartiality, after all, BJ approved his appointment.

HarrietOh · 15/12/2021 21:50

@Iamnotamermaid

Why did they not give this man a knighthood, he definitely deserves it, and instead bestow it on that tax dodging, prima donna Lewis Hamilton who does not even live in this country.
People keep saying this about Lewis. He’s in the UK’s top 5,000 tax payers and is donating £20m to help young people from under represented groups.
MondayYogurt · 15/12/2021 21:56

I might send him a Christmas card.

Hamilton has proven his value and ability in motorsport after 7 world championships.
Whitty, has yet to prove he has done a good job, the UK has almost double the number of CV deaths (per capita) compared to Germany and is above both France and Spain, only Italy has a worse death toll of comparable European countries.

Octavia - every country is inherently different in its approach to everything from public spending, attitudes to age groups and the amount of public holidays they should have. Your post is pointless.
GettingItOutThere · 15/12/2021 22:20

@MondayYogurt

I might send him a Christmas card.
he would get thousands if all his fans did Grin
Octavia174 · 15/12/2021 22:20

@Magnited Thats your opinion but the fact remains is CV doesn't discriminate based on the number of public holidays a country has.
Europe has a similar demographic to the UK, with national health services.

The UK, despite being one of the first to roll out vaccines, has a terrible death rate, which before vaccines, was on par with other right wings governments such as Trumps USA and Brazil.

Even after the vaccine roll out, Whitty among others, were happy with 50k daily Delta infections and 120 to 150 daily deaths, totals way about our european counter parts who kept some restrictions.

So no i do not share the Whitty love, even tonight, when asked if he would want more restrictions, he towed the Johnson line.

EvilPea · 15/12/2021 22:23

Another whitty fan club member here.
Genuine, honest, hard working man.

I was properly outraged when he was grabbed in the park. Like someone was filmed kicking a puppy outrage. The man is an absolute jewel in the nhs crown....

I would love to hear a tell all on boris from him, but he wouldn’t hes too honest

Magnited · 15/12/2021 22:24

@Octavia174

On that basis, Lewis Hamilton does not deserve a knighthood because he has under declared his taxes.

anniegun · 15/12/2021 22:31

He makes Boris Johnson look like the idiot he is. Every press conference is effectively "shut up Johnson and let the grown up talk"

flatpack1 · 15/12/2021 22:32

@the80sweregreat

Not a sir, unlike that diva very rich man ,Lewis Hamilton :(

We suffered more because the Tories had run down our health service and Johnson disregarded the scientific advice at crucial stages of the pandemic.

SergeiL · 15/12/2021 22:37

People slagging him off here have clearly never watched the press conferences. He is very careful about saying here are the medical facts and my job is to tell the ministers the medical facts and advise but they make the decisions.

Starcup · 15/12/2021 22:37

I think he’s incredible too. He should have a knighthood, instead of all the mega rich Carl is that get paid millions to do a job they love…. It’s not fit out benefit that’s for sure.

Chris on the other hand works to protect the public. He’s far more deserving of a night hood than anyone

Starcup · 15/12/2021 22:38

Knighthood

Starcup · 15/12/2021 22:38

celebs

SergeiL · 15/12/2021 22:38

Honestly. Direct your frothing anger in the appropriate direction. I.e. the lying, cheating, hypocritical Tory government.

LuluBlakey1 · 15/12/2021 22:40

He is not standing at the press conferences with Johnson as a politician. He is standing there are Chief Medical Officer. He is careful about what he says but his views about actions are always clear. He also needs to be very careful that anything he says is not seen as ammunition that could be used by the nutters to contribute to any unrest against government actions. There is enough pressure on emergency services.

HUGE respect for The Whitty in my house.

We know the difference between an advisor, a scientist/medic and a politician.
