... I just think he is amazing and so straight talking. He knows his stuff and seems down to earth. I love the way he handles the questions from the press and concentrates on the task in hand.

I've also had the pleasure of being in team meetings led by Chris Whitty and some of his lectures. I love his lack of waffle and professional manner especially in the press updates. Jenny Harries is also very straight to the point but with a lovely warmth.

Why did they not give this man a knighthood, he definitely deserves it, and instead bestow it on that tax dodging, prima donna Lewis Hamilton who does not even live in this country.
Here, here! I really like CW, not only is he incredibly intelligent, knowledgeable and calm, but he also seems like a thoroughly decent person.

(He does look a bit like an alien though, but a friendly one.)

My fave is virologist Chris Smith. He explains everything in such a straight forward and clear way. He seems like such a nice bloke. I ❤️ him.

Apparently, last Christmas he quietly spent the Christmas weekend doing rounds in the respiratory ward in a hospital, dealing with patients. By all accounts a lovely, lovely man.
This is true, a good friend of mine works with his sister and this is how he spent last Christmas!

Glad I found this thread as I really admire CW, he is calm measured and believable. I read he even volunteers in a hospital over Christmas so some staff can be with their families . The man deserves every accolade going, he has been the voice of reading through this pandemic.
He also has to stand next to that idiot Boris which lets face it cannot be easy.

I was just thinking that tonight, that CW must've been sitting next to BJ and responding to some of those questions thinking, "yes clearly we should've locked down last week and put some stringent measures in place other than masks" (that should never be removed as a measure anyway?) ...

And then had to think of some politically neutral way of still encouraging the public to be careful without saying that BJ has completely dropped the ball - yet again...

CW seems like such a catch, can't believe he's not married!
A friend of a friend was dating him last year - I haven’t seen the first friend in a while so I don’t know a whether he’s still in a relationship or single!

I disagree! I think he looks like a serious person who would be able to put serious stuff aside whenever he could. A measured person. I'd love to be like that.

I trust CW & JVT and have much sympathy for the role they've had to take on. Much appreciation for Jason Leitch too. He's also extremely clear in his communication and manages to sound reassuring most of the time

Surprised by such love for Chris wittey.
Today he stated hospitalizations have risen by 10% week on week, and by 30% in London.
Yet stats show three month downward trend and - 14 people in hospital yesterday.
Why is no one calling him out on his "facts"?

I find him pessimistic, depressing and doom mongering.
The modelling has been wrong everytime and he just seems determined to keep the country in state of fear
