Hugo’s Daily Updates Are Back! Vaccination Positivity Thread!

During the big vaccination push at the start of the year we had a lovely series of threads running to keep up moral and celebrate our wonderful NHS as we watched the numbers of vaccinated people go up and up. It feels like we need that positivity again right now!

I was pleased to see on Twitter that our pal Hugo is back with his daily figure updates, so what better time to start a new thread!

This is not a place to discuss the vaccines themselves or to share negative stories. Let’s keep it positive!

I have been looking for a positivity thread! Thank you @CaveMum

I was on a late shift yesterday vaccinating someone every 3 minutes. Good humoured crowd with many merry Christmas’s being said.

Good old Hugo. I miss that previous thread.

CaveMum · 15/12/2021 14:09

Hugo’s hitting his stride!

656,711 boosters yesterday, up 142,989 on yesterday and up 265,050 on last Tuesday.

Sorry, that should say up 142,989 on Monday’s numbers.

Ah good news, I've missed Hugo's threads. All being well I hope to be among his statistics on Friday!

CaveMum · 15/12/2021 14:28

Hugo has crunched some numbers:

There are another 20,169,670 eligible people who need boosters by the end of this month.

At 100% uptake, they'd have to do 1.19m a day to hit the target.

At 90% uptake, 1.07m a day.

At 80% uptake, 949k a day.

At 70% uptake, 831k a day.

So glad this is back! I'd love to see a million a day.

CaveMum · 16/12/2021 09:14

Feeling like we’re going to need this positivity thread more and more over the next few weeks so please do share any positive stories you have.

Heck if needs be I shall resort to posting kitten and puppy pictures just to keep my own mood up!

DH and I had ours done yesterday at a test centre by a very nice army medic in fatigues.

It was the highlight of my week 😂

CaveMum · 16/12/2021 09:42

Excellent @Marmite27. I’ve got mine on Saturday morning and am pondering buying a box of chocs to take with me for the staff.

I'm glad to see records being broken in a good way! Looking forward to my booster tomorrow night. Wonder if it will reach 800k today.

CaveMum · 16/12/2021 14:36

Looking at Hugo’s Twitter feed, these aren’t records for total vaccinations (that was earlier this year with 844.285), but it is the highest number of boosters given and once 1st and 2nd doses are factored in will probably be the 2nd highest day so far.

Hugo is stating it is >90% likely that we’ll exceed that record day today, ie in tomorrows figures.

Nice idea to have another thread, well done CaveMum and Hugo.

Dh and I had ours on Monday. I was initially extremely grumpy because despite being nearly 50 and vulnerable I couldn’t get an appointment anywhere, but I went along to DH’s appointment and it turned out they were unofficially doing walk ins.
The best thing was it was in a Mormon church- I have been super jealous of all the people who had theirs in interesting places like football grounds and the Natural History Museum Grin

newtothenet · 16/12/2021 19:13

I'm so ready for the return of the positivity thread! Thank you for setting this up.

picklemewalnuts · 16/12/2021 19:27

My son got his today. They were a bit short of vaccinators, but at full strength they were accepting walk ins as well as prebooked.

IWannaWishYouANutNutsChristmas · 16/12/2021 19:39

The booster graph on @PaulMainwood is good too.

So inspiring to see this, thank you! I've just had mine - I felt so lucky.

CaveMum · 16/12/2021 20:30

Glad the positivity is helping folk. DH has his booster booked for tomorrow and I’ve got mine booked on Saturday.

One of my colleagues went online to book and was offered Christmas Day, so obviously they’re planning on keeping the jabbing up!

CaveMum · 17/12/2021 17:26

Can’t see todays figures on Hugo’s Twitter feed. Hope he’s busy jabbing!
