Getting flashbacks to trying to get an online supermarket delivery slot March last year.

Fuck.

Anyone else been in the queue? It says about 10 minutes wait but that hasn’t changed for quite a lot of minutes already.

Why not just wait a few days...

SomebodysMum · 12/12/2021 20:14

Because I have reasons to want to get it booked as soon as possible.

I’m over 40 and had the same issue last week.
When it first opens up it gets a bit overwhelmed. I waited a few days then suddenly loads of spots opened up near me and I had no problems.

WakeUpLockie · 12/12/2021 20:15

Aren’t there any drop ins near you? I’m 32 and got my booster today, took an hour, was fab! Worth checking!

IncessantNameChanger · 12/12/2021 20:15

I'm 7 months past AZ. I was 5000 in the queue two weeks ago. Got to the top and it crashed. My nearest walk in is 22 miles away according to the NHS app. Im going wait until after Christmas I think. Already had covid in January so not overly worried. I'm more worried my 18 year son hasnt had his second dose.

Keep in the queue or log on later. Just after Boris announcement is possibly the very worse time to try to book

nordica · 12/12/2021 20:16

Try in the early hours of the night, that was always the best time to get through for supermarket slots too...

KatherineJaneway · 12/12/2021 20:17

With the announcement it will be slammed, wait a bit and see how you get in or try again much later / in the early hours.

rainrainraincamedowndowndown · 12/12/2021 20:17

When I booked my booster, my number on the queue was like 1500 something. My turn came after few minutes. Just leave it and do something else, and come back to it?

herecomesthsun · 12/12/2021 20:18

Just hoping it all works out, for you & everyone x

Cornettoninja · 12/12/2021 20:18

If you want to get jabbed asap my advice would be to find your local walk in and get there early.

Lushplease · 12/12/2021 20:19

Booked about 10 mins ago. Was no. 580 in the queue but it only took 3 minutes.
First appointment was Jan 1st at my closest pharmacy.

CovidCorvid · 12/12/2021 20:21

I’m glad I booked DD’s appt yesterday…..though her appt is 30th of Dec as that was the earliest. Will suggest she goes to a walk in tomorrow though I suspect the queues might be epic!

Megan2018 · 12/12/2021 20:21

It’ll be fine if you leave it until late, after 11pm ish it’s usually quiet again, it goes mad after a briefing.

LemonCake79 · 12/12/2021 20:22

I went to a walk in today. Queued for about 15 minutes. It was incredibly well organised.

SomebodysMum · 12/12/2021 20:23

Thanks everyone.

NHS sure has unsurprisingly crashed now. I will try again when my 3 year old wakes me ridiculously early in the morning tomorrow. I’m not usually grateful for the 5am starts but maybe I will be tomorrow!

Stopsnowing · 12/12/2021 20:24

Try a walk-in.

Laurel1 · 12/12/2021 20:25

I went on just before bojo was on telly and was 500 in queue. Took a couple of minutes then I had to refresh about 900 times to get a slot in January. I can't go till then Any way due positive test.

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 12/12/2021 20:25

Booked this morning (52)

6th of January in a city about 20 miles away, they are saying thats the closest but it isn’t

FenceSplinters · 12/12/2021 20:26

I tried earlier just to see, and went straight through. It’s just busy because of the tv announcement.

Change123today · 12/12/2021 20:26

Without sounding daft - how do we find out about the drop in centres? My booster was fairly easy to sort out Gp sent a text I booked an apt.
Whether we wait till Wednesday & hope we can get an apt as she back from uni without anything else to do! Get her to queue up at a walk in one.

WakeUpLockie · 12/12/2021 20:29

@Change123today I only heard about the walk in because of word of mouth. They were telling people to spread the word so it was all over Facebook, friends telling everyone etc. Its a normal vax centre and so there are bookings and people just turned up on the off chance, and it’s spiralled I guess. My friend turned up on the off chance for her first vax, at the end of the day, and it worked. 🤷🏻‍♀️

CiderWithLizzie · 12/12/2021 20:30

I was 500th in queue. Then it crashed and I went down to 1,000. Tried again snd it said not eligible! Trying to book for my 19 year old’s booster. Tried again snd 18,000 and crashed again 🥶

Abraxan · 12/12/2021 20:31

I noticed the queue to get on was big, was over number 10000.
I was looking to book for DD's booster but will leave it a few days or drive her over to the walk in centre. She wants it done here, when she gets back from university for Christmas. So not urgent.

I see it as a very good thing that the queue is so high tonight. It shows the demand is there, which can only be good,

AnneElliott · 12/12/2021 20:33

Our local FB pages has info about walk in centres. You could try there and see if there's somewhere easier.

Abraxan · 12/12/2021 20:33

If you Google walk in booster clinics and your town name it usually brings them up. It did for me - took me to the nhs site with a list of walk ins locally
