Are you really prepared to take every single vaccine

It worries me that we may have to keep having vaccines going forward. I’m due my booster which I will take but I’m hearing that AZ are in the process of tweaking the current vaccine to combat the new strain. So we are then required to take another booster. Many variants can crop up, suppose another one does very soon. I’m concerned about the number of vaccines we could be taking. Is anyone else? And no I’m not an anti vaxer.

I'm hesitant as had a bad reaction after 2nd pfizer and Still not the same. Don't want to get covid either though

Isthatthebestyoucando · 28/11/2021 14:45

@AntiMaskersAreTwats

If only Covid would mutate to only become dangerous to unvaccinated adults who don’t take any precautions to not catch it. That would get rid of most of the UK’s numpties in one fell swoop Grin
Most people who don’t take it have a reason. It’s a step further than smug to wish harm on them.
MaxNormal · 28/11/2021 14:45

Surely a few days discomfort is worth the lifesaving attributes of a vaccine?

Massively depends on the person, age and general health status.

Luredbyapomegranate · 28/11/2021 14:45

It’s no different to the flu is it?

pointythings · 28/11/2021 14:46

LizziesTwin what do they teach people in maths??? I'm amazed and horrified.

Gwenhwyfar · 28/11/2021 14:48

Yes. How else are we going to get out of this mess?

KrispyKale · 28/11/2021 14:49

The flu vaccination is a best approximation to what the expected strains are each year. It doesn't come with any guaranteed success. At best it works on a population level and some years not even that.🤷

TinaYouFatLard · 28/11/2021 14:49

I’d have four a day if I was offered it.

derxa · 28/11/2021 14:49

Sorry to hear that. I'm not getting the booster either, two jabs is enough. I had full body psoriasis once, caused by immense stress and it took about 6 months to clear up. However, I would recommend reading "Healing Psoriasis: The Natural Alternative" by Dr Pagano. It's an old but really good book. Hope it clears up soon!
Thanks Flowers I'll have a look.

IAAP · 28/11/2021 14:51

I was double vaccinated, eldest had already had the Pfizer both of us got Covid - I’m 4 weeks on and still having symptoms - she is 3 weeks on and for and healthy and very ill with Covid - so absolutely hell yes would I have any booster or vaccine. We get the flu every year and if offered a Covid booster every 4 weeks we would take it. I had a week off not being able to keep solids down and now on my 4 th week of chronic diarrhoea. The headache and cough were awful and still have a bit 4 weeks on - I’m one of the lucky ones

Gwenhwyfar · 28/11/2021 14:51

Yes, the balance is different for young people. However, it's not just about the person themselves. It's about getting out of this shit we're in globally. Everybody has to play a part.
derxa · 28/11/2021 14:54
@derxa Very sorry to read about your vaccine-triggered psoriasis. It’s an awful condition. A friend with it swears by Green People skincare. I thought I’d mention it on the off-chance it might help you.
Thanks that's very kind of you Flowers

Practicebeingpatient · 28/11/2021 14:54

@Angel2702

I’d have one every week if it stopped me having to be separated from family again.
This. It's a sensible precaution. Like taking medication for high blood pressure or not smoking or drinking to excess. High blood pressure won't definitely shorten my life anymore than smoking or drinking or CoVid definitely will. We all know stories of people who lived to 99 on a diet of fags and butter whose only exercise was a walk to the fridge to get ice for their whisky but I prefer to improve my chances by taking my medication and choosing a healthy lifestyle and at the moment having CoVid jabs as recommended is all part of that.

@Gwenhwyfar

Yes. How else are we going to get out of this mess?
But how will repeated boosters get us out of this mess?
EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 28/11/2021 14:55

@Whyevencare

I'll take my chances Wink

Haven't had a vaccine since the rubella one at school and I'm 50 now.

Do you think that's possibly related to your ability to rely upon others in the community who have made a different decision?

What do you think the financial consequences for individuals and the wider economy would be if all the over-50s declined vaccinations (e.g., COVID–19, shingles, flu, travel vaccinations, tetanus)?

Are you not impressed by the drop in cervical cancer following the success of the programme to vaccinate girls and young women?

Underparmummy · 28/11/2021 14:56

Yes. Obvs.

Isthatthebestyoucando · 28/11/2021 14:56

@pointythings

Sigh.

Each time you roll a die, the odds of rolling a 6 is 1 in 6. So let's imagine if you roll a 6, you get a day long headache. You roll the die and it's a 3. Great, no headache.

Next time you roll, the odds of you rolling a 6 are exactly the same. The fact that you rolled a 3 last time has no influence on this roll at all.

Same with the vaccine.

The day long headache isn’t most peoples very Serious concern though. It’s the things you don’t want in your life and the things that end your life. Blood clots, fertility issues, debilitating conditions lasting months. The headache was never the 1 in a million thing. I had my vaccine and a booster as I weighed it up and looked at the risk, but there is a lot of speaking down to people on this thread who acknowledge that there is a risk and pretending they are stupid. There IS a risk, a small one but it is there and every time you have a booster you take your chances again. Denying people have died from the vaccine is no smarter than denying people die from Covid. People need to make their own choices free from the judgement of smug people.
EngTech · 28/11/2021 14:58

Personal choice IMHO

If you are happy to have what is recommended, great, if you don’t want the jab, again, your choice and I fully support that decision

Main thing is that if you do catch CV19 and end up in hospital in ICU, please then don’t complain as the number of stories I have seen on local TV about people having a close shave with The Grim Reaper is eye opening

They then plead with people to have the jabs

My thinking is that there is no reset button when it comes death 😳😳

WomanStillNotAFeeling · 28/11/2021 14:58

I have an annual flu vaccination, had a full set of childhood vaccinations, get all recommended vaccinations for travel including ensuring I followup on any boosters and have my covid booster booked.

Mass vaccination programs have changed what illnesses we might get and improved average lifespan as a result, I don't see this as any different.

Haffiana · 28/11/2021 14:58

I had my Covid vax recently as needed it for work, but to be honest pre-vax hanging around friends who were vaxxed actually triggered an autoimmune reaction in my body. 6months of being unwell and could only have my own vax once I had recovered. My period also randomly appeared the day after I met with all my vaxxed friends and it was really very odd.

Er, you what now? Do you seriously believe this?

Whyevencare · 28/11/2021 14:58

@KosherDill

And you'll isolate so you don't pass the virus to others?

Do you mean if I'm ill?

itsallgoingpearshaped · 28/11/2021 14:59

I'm starting to think anyone who refuses to be vaccinated against serious diseases like this (that flood our hospitals with critical patients and prevent other care), shouldn't be able to rock up to hospital if they catch it.

Medical exemptions? Of course. But choosing not to help protect everyone? Nope.

milly74 · 28/11/2021 14:59

so, triple jabbed ie 2 x AZ and one Moderna, unfortunately really quite poorly for 48 hours after each one. 3 in less than 12 months for me, maybe a booster each winter but definitely not one for each new variant. Too much.

Helpstopthepain · 28/11/2021 15:01

@Valhalla17

Those that say " well I take the flu jab every year"....I assume that's because you're vulnerable or have an underlying condition that requires it...and I expect the same for Covid vaccines and boosters. Every single man, woman and child does not require this. Its beyond ridiculous.
No but was very unwell with flu around 11 years ago. I’m lucky to be offered vaccines as part of my job. I feel lucky.
BlueFlavour · 28/11/2021 15:03

Definitely. I felt awful after the first vaccination, like death warmed up. But I had the second, which was fine and will have the booster and any subsequent jabs.
It’s the only way through this. It’s our lifeboat.
