Do you think the UK will eventually follow Austria and Germany and introduce mandatory vaccination for Covid?

How are Austria and Germany intending to force people to be vaccinated?

OP posts:
Villanelle17 · 22/11/2021 19:30

Nope.

CatServantIII · 22/11/2021 19:30

Ha ha! They are too spineless to force people to wear masks, so that would be a no…

MrsFin · 22/11/2021 19:34

No. That is not the British way. We traditionally leave a lot more to individual choice than other countries do. Eg "policing by consent is very British".

PersephoneJames · 22/11/2021 19:35

Germany hasn’t, has it?

I don’t think the UK will.

Northernsoullover · 22/11/2021 19:35

No.

userperuser · 22/11/2021 19:36

Yes.

The government persistently lied about vaccine passports in a domestic setting. The MSM have been used repeatedly to prime the population ahead of the introduction of potentially controversial measures.

I hope I’m wrong.

That would be difficult when the prime minister doesn't wear one.
Battenburg77 · 22/11/2021 19:41

I don't know about England or Northern Ireland.

Scotland and Wales - Yes.

SLH2003 · 22/11/2021 19:41

No and who cares anyway. Only the stupid antivaxxers need to worry.

gettingolderandgrumpy · 22/11/2021 19:45

No , people said the same during lockdown that would follow other countries that we’d have curfew etc we didn’t . Just because in one country they don’t all do the same . Austria has only a 65% uptake on the vaccine area is a lot higher . I suppose it’s a way of making sure more got vaccinated it wouldn’t be necessary in our country.

justasking111 · 22/11/2021 19:48

Austria figures are so low 12k deaths altogether. They're unhinged or perhaps we are with so many deaths. I'm in Wales our government keep rumbling about things but we haven't finished jabbing the over 70s with boosters, nor the teenagers, can't see over 60s getting a jab this side of Xmas.

This makes me nervous as they repeatedly said this on news reports about vaccine passports in domestic settings.

CouldThisReallyBe · 22/11/2021 20:00

No

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 22/11/2021 20:03

No, and that's the right thing.

BunsyGirl · 22/11/2021 20:12

@justasking111 you say that Austria’s figures are so low but the UK population is approx 7.5 times bigger than Austria. That means that Austria has the equivalent of of around 90,000 deaths in the U.K. Yes, lower than the U.K. but it’s not that low.

And this is how it happens…

No

fournonblondes · 22/11/2021 20:28

No they won’t.

SLH2003 · 22/11/2021 20:29

How what happens?

Would you want it though?
Libertaire · 22/11/2021 20:31

No. There is no suggestion that the government is considering anything of the sort and, for all his many faults, Johnson would never consider doing anything so illiberal.

“That would be difficult when the prime minister doesn't wear one.“

After his excruciating performance at the CBI conference today, he won’t be a consideration shortly.

This. Even when 'required'. And the buffoon in charge doesn't bother either.

Not a hope in hell.

MiniatureHotdog · 22/11/2021 20:34

No.

I'm vaccinated but am horrified at the idea of making it compulsory. Everyone should have the right to decide what gets put into their own body. What a terrifying precedent to set.
