Do you think the UK will eventually follow Austria and Germany and introduce mandatory vaccination for Covid?

How are Austria and Germany intending to force people to be vaccinated?

Thanks for the information. Checked again, Only health workers and over 70s are eligible. You can't apply but wait for your letter. 110k vaccinated. They're not prioritising vulnerable this time round either.

"*You say this as though mandatory vaccines have never happened before.

It was how they eradicated smallpox.

There is already a precedent set and no-one has used it in the last 100 years*"

Smallpox had a 30% death rate - not exactly comparable with covid in terms of IFR is it?

We had to wait for the letter too justasking, no way of applying.

If their case numbers start to plummet and life returned to normal in those places within a few months of their vaccine mandate then yes of course we would probably follow suit. However looking ahead in terms of any new variants or breakthrough cases that’s most likely not going to happen simply because vaccines alone won’t save us.

What

justasking111 · 22/11/2021 23:54

Well it's saving Israel just now how long a booster will work is anyone's guess

No, they won’t force people to get vaccinated in the sense it will be illegal not to be vaccinated….

But they may introduce covid passports so anti vaxers will be left out from almost leisure actives. They’ll basically be able to go to work and other peoples homes and that’s it!

Seasidemumma77 · 23/11/2021 00:49

Personally believe vaccinations are necessary, but the thought of individuals being forced to have a vaccination does not sit comfortably with me.

However, mandatory doesn't have to always mean forced. In some countries, where healthcare is not free, a government declaring a vaccine 'Mandatory' simply means that individuals can receive those vaccinations free of charge.

Think we all have a duty to demand to receive clear unbiased reporting from our media, to clarify exactly what each country proposing 'mandatory' Covid vaccinations is actually implementing. If its the case that people are being forced to have vaccinations, then we should of course speak up and stand by the citizens of those countries. However, we must also be open to the idea that our media is potentially manipulating us by its use of the word 'mandatory' without clear definition.

England, NI no. Scotland, Wales maybe.

frozendaisy · 23/11/2021 01:53

@SLH2003

No and who cares anyway. Only the stupid antivaxxers need to worry.
Exactly who cares?
WaterAndRichTea · 23/11/2021 01:55

No! Never! 100% not!

Immaculatemisconception · 23/11/2021 02:56

According to the scientists, the U.K. is in a much better position than Europe, so it won’t be necessary.

bumbleymummy · 23/11/2021 06:58

It’s not ‘necessary’ in Austria or Germany either.

Acinaces · 23/11/2021 13:54

@MiniatureHotdog

No.

I'm vaccinated but am horrified at the idea of making it compulsory. Everyone should have the right to decide what gets put into their own body. What a terrifying precedent to set.

It indeed is worrying; I can only wonder what will be enforced next.
Acinaces · 23/11/2021 13:56

@wheresmymojo

I wonder if all those who are against mandatory vaccination are against it for everything?

Do you think we should have let smallpox continue?

If smallpox or a similar disease rears it's head, will you be happy for it to remain and impact your family?

Such nonsense. How could you compare COVID to Smallpox? You've clearly lost your mind.
madmomma · 23/11/2021 13:59

It's an appalling idea. Certainly not!

WheresMyCycle · 23/11/2021 17:01

No not a chance because we are all nation of woke wimps, snowflakes with rights and no backbone

Scarcity20 · 23/11/2021 17:02

There will be big trouble if they do! Most people have had covid now and it's either been a cold, nothing at all or a really nasty flu. Anyway done and dusted, people need to get on with their lives now. Also can you imagine someone turning up at your door saying they're going to forcibly inject you or a family member with an experimental drug that's killed thousands world wide?? And obviously no idea yet of the long-term effects. Crazy!

I'd lose it.

The thought of this makes me feel violent.

Scarcity20 · 28/11/2021 14:47

More people are waking up to this madness all the time now, so hopefully it will soon be over. New variant comes which apparently makes people 'very tired and achy for a few days' and more restrictive measures come back?? Just to try and force more people to take it/renew the fears of many. Just like we predicted!
How are people still falling for this?
