Can we walk on a field?

Field 2 mins from house. Massive field, won't be near anyone.

Kids are going crazy. Dogs not been walked for a week.

Can't see the harm when we won't be touching anything or be near anyone?

i thought the question was regarding walking in a field, and so if it is a public footpath you must follow that, not veer off it, but then it seems it is corona related.

@HirplesWithHaggis

Winter crops?

Wheat and barley look like grass at this time of year, newly germinated. Farms may also have root veg (eg sugar beet) in the ground, but they're more obvious.

OP has said that it is a playing field with sports pitches.

Still fine to go for a walk anyway. Whether others screech "illegal" or not.

HirplesWithHaggis · 20/11/2021 15:01

OP has since clarified about playing fields. When I responded, she had described a massive field, two minutes from home.

Sorry, should have said when I first responded. I mentioned winter crops, and later a poster queried, "Winter crops?" so my wheat etc explanation was in response to that.
MrsLargeEmbodied · 20/11/2021 15:03

go out op

Chloemol · 20/11/2021 15:13

@sunlovingcriminal

Eh? Where in the world are you? We're not in lockdown anymore... so you can do what you like!
But if you are isolation you dont go out
headintheproverbial · 20/11/2021 15:14

Oh do it.

loobylou10 · 20/11/2021 15:15

Go for a walk

Beajoy82 · 20/11/2021 15:17

@clarrylove

So what happens if someone sees you? Your daughter's friends maybe? And run up to speak to her. What do you say, 'stay away we all have Covid!'.
My thoughts too!! I understand it must be so hard but you can't guarantee you won't see anyone!
BlackeyedSusan · 20/11/2021 15:25

I think there is an exception for autitstic children. check out the government website. ideally you should stay in and just use your house and garden.

I think you need to try and do this before considering going out. if you are going out it would be disabled child and one carer, not the whole lot of you. how would that feel for your other kid?

Nidan2Sandan · 20/11/2021 15:30

You're mad to ask that question on here. Remember you're within the group of people who lost their shit over someone stopping to eat crisps on a bench, someone touching a gate post, someone popping to the shops for a bar of chocolate and someone who suggested using cheese in coffee.

Vast numbers of people on here lost all ability to use common sense or risk assess until the plebs in government tells them it's okay to do something.

Go for your walk. Dont lick any passing strangers. It'll be fine.

warmyacockles · 20/11/2021 15:34

Oh blimey, it feels like we've gone back to 2020, asking for permission to walk round in an empty field. Just go.

PingedPotato · 20/11/2021 15:37

Go but yell at people to stay away if they get too close

Motherdare · 20/11/2021 15:39

I would ask for this to be deleted.

And go for your walk.

PiffleWiffleWoozle · 20/11/2021 15:42

No what if you fell and twisted your ankle or something.

You could just as well injure yourself at home though?

GingerGetThePopcorn · 20/11/2021 16:51

We stayed inside for two weeks straight when we all had Covid. It was fucking awful and it badly affected my kids (much more than having the virus did).

If you really do have somewhere you can walk that you wouldn't come into contact with anyone, do it. I wouldn't judge you in the least.

ExceptionalAssurance · 20/11/2021 17:01

Legally, no. If you're asking whether it would be ethically acceptable, clearly yes.

JanglyBeads · 20/11/2021 17:02

There was definitely an exemption for SEN people during lockdowns, and it may apply to isolation too?

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 20/11/2021 17:04

@ilost

Sorry, we're isolating. Not left the house at all, of course. But my DD is SEND and sat here crying because she wants to go for a walk.

It's a playing field.

We genuinely wouldn't be within 100ft of anyone at any point.

Sorry I commented without reading this Blush. Yes absolutely
JanglyBeads · 20/11/2021 17:13

This is at the end of the official advice about isolating:

^ People with learning disabilities, autism or serious mental illnesses

Not all these measures will be possible if you, or those you live with, have conditions such as learning disabilities, autism or serious mental illnesses. Follow this guidance to the best of your ability, while keeping yourself and those close to you safe and well, ideally in line with any existing care plans.^

IWishToAnswerInTheAffirmative · 20/11/2021 17:17

Of course you should. Absolute piece of nonsense.

Buzzinwithbez · 20/11/2021 17:51

Well, it's a while since I felt the need to look at the legislation. I'm interested to note there are many exceptions.

As some sensible posters have also pointed out, there is also a clause in the guidance that would support you taking a child to run off some steam, especially where there is negligible risk of coming into contact with someone.
