Did you want anything specific out of this thread @SencosRshit?

Or let me guess, by dropping the link with no futher info or effort you're hoping for a thread all about how about COVID isn't a problem, vaccines uncessary, no restriction measures are needed......

BenjiMcSchmenzie · 19/11/2021 17:58

I may be missing something but if it doesn’t make you ill, isn’t that a good thing and shows that the bug is mutating to become less deadly…?

nordica · 19/11/2021 18:01

I guess the problem is that it might not be asymptomatic for all? So you don't realise you're infected and visit granny who then catches it and gets very ill.

PrincessNutNuts · 19/11/2021 18:04

Chlamydia can be symptomless in a lot of people.

It can still make you infertile though.

You just don't know it's happening because you don't have symptoms.

Seeline · 19/11/2021 18:07

We've known it's possible to be symptomless for months 😕

NoSquirrels · 19/11/2021 18:10

I don’t think this is news, is it?

PrincessNutNuts · 19/11/2021 18:11

@Seeline

We've known it's possible to be symptomless for months 😕
Since the very beginning.

South Korea told the world about it in January 2020.

PurpleDaisies · 19/11/2021 18:11

Vaccination has changed what symptoms people get, if they get any.

This isn’t really news.

FreshFreesias · 19/11/2021 18:20

Covid Cultists will never be satisfied until we are locked down to the end of time.

leafyygreens · 19/11/2021 18:24

@FreshFreesias

do you think that with no further vaccination programmes or suppression measures, coronavirus will no longer be an issue?

what's your basis for that assumption?

leafyygreens · 19/11/2021 18:25

Although I expect this is exactly the kind of reply @SencosRshit was hoping to achieve with that OP

PrincessNutNuts · 19/11/2021 18:30

@FreshFreesias

Covid Cultists will never be satisfied until we are locked down to the end of time.
I have observed prior to the last three lockdowns that people say things like this more as we approach the next one.
userperuser · 19/11/2021 18:33

I don’t know why a symptomless variant would raise alarm, nobody would be at risk, maybe they’re testing the level of gullibility in the population.

PingedPotato · 19/11/2021 18:33

It's very odd

Wellbythebloodyhell · 19/11/2021 18:36

DS was symptomless, positive PCR, negative on all lateral flows before during and after. Is that what lateral flow tests are meant to do, catch the asymptomatic cases?

fournonblondes · 19/11/2021 18:36

We should have an end of year MN COVID Awards. Some people here just really deserve som recognition for their efforts 🤣

Flyonawalk · 19/11/2021 18:39

Symptomless viruses are well documented but poorly understood. It usually means that the virus is good at spreading - many successful viruses don’t kill their hosts. A dead host is a dead end.

RaoulDufysCat · 19/11/2021 18:56

It's always been possible to be asymptomatic. This is not the same as everyone who gets it being asymptomatic. Having said that, if the proportion of asymptomatic infections is rising we do need to keep on top of testing to avoid endangering those with less good immune systems even more.

SencosRshit · 19/11/2021 19:02

I wonder how we might guess when we have the symptomless variant.

Should we be testing for it several times a week as it’s otherwise impossible to spot?

Yes, people are encouraged to test twice a week with lfts now.

Again, this is not news.

Well yeah. We should be testing twice a week anyway. In case you have it asymptomaticaly and give it to someone who gets it with the symptom of death.
SencosRshit · 19/11/2021 19:20

I’ve run out of LFTs and they’re not handing them out round here anymore.

I thought they were phasing that out to save money.

Should I be getting a PCR done weekly, at least?

You can order them in about a minute online.
PurpleDaisies · 19/11/2021 19:22

Pcr tests are for symptoms or after a positive lft. Or if your workplace needs it.

Nobody has suggested weekly pcr tests for asymptomatic people,

Just because it's symptomless in one person doesn't mean it will be symptomless/harmless to all the other people they infect.
