@FreshFreesias

Something new for Covid Cultists to worry about 🤣
And as we know, covid is absolutely nothing to worry about.

It's just killed millions, cost billions, crippled economies and health systems, and ground the world to a halt.

No biggie.

bumbleymummy · 20/11/2021 12:44

@PrincessNutNuts if it’s symptomless, ie milder, then it can spread as much as it wants afaic :)

Well no, not unless it is symptomless for a high enough proportion of the population

bestbeforedateexpired · 20/11/2021 12:58

@WonderfulYou

What an odd thread Confused
Yes. And a horrible user name from the OP.
diamondpony80 · 20/11/2021 13:04

Do people really do LFT's twice a week? I've never had a covid test (never had any symptoms that warranted taking one). And yes, I do understand it can be asymptomatic, but I don't come in contact with any older or vulnerable people on a regular basis. The kids have had one each when they had symptoms but both came up negative.

ollyollyoxenfree · 20/11/2021 13:46

Yes. And a horrible user name from the OP.

Only just twigged! I was reading it as SERCO and thought that was fair enough.

Well that's offensive.

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 20/11/2021 13:56

Your name is not on, OP. Our SENCO is lovely - incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. I realise not every SENCO is, but your name is just a stupid generalisation that makes you look a bit of a test.

Typo sorry! Makes you look a bit of a twat, I mean.

MarshaBradyo · 20/11/2021 14:18

I passed a man with a Serco uniform on today doing street stuff

Felt sorry for him due to the maligned name it has, and do more now!

Yes. It’s rife in our schools, some parents are getting pretty poorly because they’re not allowed boosters yet so funnily enough I would like to do my part to help.

It’s not that hard.

Iggly · 20/11/2021 14:21

That only works if those who do have symptoms don’t suffer too much.

bumbleymummy · 20/11/2021 15:06

Sure. But isn’t the point that it’s a ‘symptomless variant’? Surely you’d want more people having the symptomless version and gaining immunity?

TotoShetland · 20/11/2021 18:09

I think the symptomless variant sounds like the way we want to be heading.

Timescale · 20/11/2021 18:28

Do we know what percentage of people get the symptomless version and whether it’s death rate is lower?

Lostinacloud · 20/11/2021 19:00

Yes, there is now a symptomless variant. Covid is 99.9% survivable for everyone under 75 and there is a vaccine that breaks the link between infection and hospitalisation or death for all those wishing to have it, whether vulnerable or not.

But don’t let that information create too much common sense and allow the world to move on and put an end to all the travel restrictions, masks and human rights violations regarding those choosing not to be vaccinated, that would be far too sensible Confused.

DumplingsAndStew · 20/11/2021 19:18

Damnit, I knew there were a few phrases missing from my 'HART Group, grassroots, wah-wah' bingo card.

Lostinacloud · 20/11/2021 19:26

Well posters like you are clearly desperate for the pandemic to go on eternally so the fact you are playing childish games and throwing the same old tired insults around on threads like these where some posters wish to disagree that any of this is necessary anymore is no surprise and easily ignored with a passing eye roll. Enjoy your bingo and life of eternal fear of a virus less fatal than hundreds of other daily risks to life Hmm

DumplingsAndStew · 20/11/2021 19:29

It's ironic that you don't seem to understand that calling for all measures to be dropped (from your posts you seem to be anti vaccination of the gen population, masks, testing, COVID status passports etc etc) is what would massively increase the chances of cases breaching safe levels and leading to the kind of harsh restrictions that every sane person wants to avoid.
Lostinacloud · 20/11/2021 19:44

It’s not ironic. I live in France where they’ve had everyone in masks for 18 months, vaccine passports for almost 4 months and very high vaccination rates. Hasn’t stopped spread, hasn’t brought any restrictions to an end and if anything it looks like despite everyone doing as they were asked and getting vaccinated, restrictions are about to tighten back up.
The fact remains that covid doesn’t affect all demographics, vaccines protect the vulnerable and case numbers shouldn’t be a reason to extend restrictions anymore. None of the continued reaction makes sense which is what makes this whole pandemic excruciatingly frustrating and non scientific and causes posters like me to exercise our right to an alternative opinion.

Ah yes, your classic argument that because numbers are increasing that means none of the measures are working (similar to how you think that because cases have been higher than pre-vaccines, it means vaccines don't work).

The counterfactual to France with no coronavirus restrictions isn't this exact situation, but with people merrily going about their lives with no restrictions. It would be France with far higher cases & hospitilisations, and all the other health, societal and economic issues this causes.

Lostinacloud · 20/11/2021 20:01

I never say the vaccines don’t work. They clearly do. I don’t believe everyone needs protecting against covid by vaccination but it’s clear the link between cases and hospitalisations and deaths has been broken. Current critically ill covid patients take up less than 1% of France’s icu capacity.

It is entirely because I acknowledge the vaccines work for many of those who are likely to end up with serious illness that I can’t understand why all restrictions can’t be brought to an end. They were supposed to be the way out according to most world governments and yet here we are being told the restrictions must continue and even start going backwards again.

Lostinacloud · 20/11/2021 20:03

And incidentally, I don’t actually see what is wrong with my argument that cases still rise despite all the restrictions in place. It’s evident in most countries of the world that is the case. Look at 100% vaccinated Gibraltar and Israel a few weeks ago.

Sumsencosrshit · 20/11/2021 21:57

This is a sensible argument isn’t it? How would you argue it olly?
