Unvaccinated I'm really starting to have an issue with

I don't care if you don't get the vaccine. I'd rather people I love and care about did as I genuinely believe it protects people - but if you don't I think it's everyone's right to refuse it if they choose.

What I'm really, really struggling with is unvaccinated not understanding there's a consequence to it.

So, at my place of work unvaccinated will go with reduced payment and people are complaining about it. It's driving me nuts - how do unvaccinated expect to isolate due to being in contact with someone who tests positive and not have a consequence? Why should a workplace shoulder the cost of an unvaccinated persons poor decision making?

How do unvaccinated think Covid will ever end if no one gets the vaccine?

What if none of us got the vaccine, what do unvaccinated think would happen, or do you not care?

AIBU to think fair enough if you refuse the vaccine, but you should accept there is a consequence to your choice so that we all get a decent healthcare system? (Hopefully)

The vaccine reduces transmission by approx 60 per cent. It also greatly reduces your risk of being admitted to hospital and therefore taking a bed from someone else who needs it. I can't believe people still don't think there is not a negative impact on others by not getting it. Utter selfishness

Kikkomam · 16/11/2021 23:19

Don't tell her who she should be angry with. Of course she's pissed off with them. If they are so into personal choice then she is utilising her personal choice to be pissed off with them.

The vaccine has proven spectacularly ineffective at reducing transmission this isn't true.

PurpleOkapi · 16/11/2021 23:28

www.thelancet.com/journals/laninf/article/PIIS1473-3099(21)00648-4/fulltext

Vaccinated household contacts of confirmed cases are only marginally less likely to test positive than unvaccinated household contacts. Much of that difference is explainable by other factors.

PurpleOkapi · 16/11/2021 23:29

Oh, and from the same study, vaccinated confirmed cases were no less likely to infect their household contacts than unvaccinated confirmed cases.

Isn’t this article sending out a clear enough message for some people? I think it’s really strong myself.

BoredZelda · 16/11/2021 23:35

Yes, it reduces serious illnesses, but that's not why people are missing work. They're missing work because they're under mandatory quarantine.

Only if they are unvaccinated.

The vaccine has proven spectacularly ineffective at reducing transmission

Which is not what this (or any other vaccine) is ever designed to do. Most are somewhat effective, but that’s an added bonus, never the intended outcome.

to the point that an unvaccinated person is no more likely to infect others than a vaccinated person.

Incorrect.

That's why people are taking issue with that policy.

They are taking issue with the policy for reasons which are untrue?

antipa · 16/11/2021 23:35

Do unvaccinated people think Covid deaths were a lie? How do you think deaths have now reduced, if the vaccine isn't effective?

Do you think doctors are lying that the majority of patients are unvaccinated - or do you think you'll just be one of the 'lucky ones' and you don't need it (until if course you're on a ventilator, then I'm sure you'll expect care)

Honestly, it's just beyond me the entitlement and expectations of the unvaccinated, not those who medically cannot take it - those that choose to not take it.

But also want life to resume as normal with all liberties and freedoms untouched.

What makes you so special?

I think making the unvaxxed isolate is a way to put pressure on them to get the vaccine so they don’t have to. Fair enough but I could see why it might piss some people off.

BoredZelda · 16/11/2021 23:44

Interesting that this is what you surmised from reading that study. Can you point to the parts of it which directly substantiate your conclusions?

Summerfun54321 · 16/11/2021 23:45

Actually maybe making the unvaxxed isolate is a way to stop covid spreading to their unvaxxed friends 🤔 the ones I know are definitely groups of people rather than lone unvaxxed individuals.

sarah13xx · 16/11/2021 23:48

I really don’t know what I think about it all yet. I have been vaccinated though, because although I was wary at first of it, I decided it was the best thing to do. I was pregnant and didn’t get it until after my baby was born though, I know many people have had it while pregnant but taking that chance didn’t sit right with me when very very few babies had been born after the mum getting it.

The thing that does bug me though, is the unvaccinated continually banging on about it. I don’t seem to see the same from vaccinated people but they really try to push their opinions down your throat. If you don’t want it, don’t get it, fine by me.. but I really don’t want to hear about yours reasons day in day out. It’s the same people (that I know anyway) who dont believe in wearing masks either. I felt I was putting my baby at risk allowing him to be around one of my friends whos in the anti-mask, anti-vax brigade. She actively goes out her way to do anything just to make a point about it 🙄

Yes, that’s why SAGE recommend it.

I’ve seen militants on both sides.

antipa · 16/11/2021 23:51

@sarah13xx completely agree - unvaccinated seem to be the most vocal of all.

Generally Vaccinated don't make noise about their choices, we just get on with it. Equally we don't complain about consequences either

@MauraandLaura

Is this a joke? People are your work who have declined the vaccine are getting less pay?

Is this the new phrase now 'the unvaccinated' like a dirty subset of people. Should they wear arm bands to let other 'vaccinated' know who they are?

I have had both vaccines because I work with vulnerable people and it was totally my choice to do so but your attitude fucking stinks!

I really hope you are a troll OP.

I think op was referring to the policy in the news recently about companies who offer enhanced sick pay, only paying statutory sick pay to unvaccinated employees.

The enhanced sick pay is a perk of the job and not statutory.

But I expect this rule it will only be applied to new applicants. It can't be legal to change contracts of existing employees, or can it?

That would be handy - to tell us which numpties to avoid Grin

@SencosRshit

Covid spreads amongst the vaccinated. Families, all vaccinated, are passing it onto one another.

If the world was 100% vaccinated COVID would still be virulent.

And not as lethal

Vaccinated are 66% less likely to transmit. This is a HUGE amount.
Hetty0 · 17/11/2021 00:55

Therapeutics that can treat covid were taken off the shelves so that an emergency 'vaccine' could be used, these vaccines wouldnt have been allowed otherwise, does that not worry you.

This is complete and utter bullshit.

Unsure33 · 17/11/2021 00:57

I just wanted to say , and I know this is rare but today a friend of a Freire who was 30 and an anti Vaxer died

And a 50 year old who only had one vaccine has been rushed to hospital.

Also I know personally of a family who have had many extreme long term affects after contracting covid .

Is it really worth it ?

Please just have the vaccine .

Hetty0 · 17/11/2021 00:58

This is also complete bullshit and really this should be deleted.

@sunnymoo

Your post is absolute rubbish . You obviously chose to ignore facts . And don’t even have basic knowledge of how death certificates work . Plus what about all the people who died of covid without it appearing on a death certificate.

All you have to do is look at excess deaths and it proves you are talking dangerous crap .
