Mask wearing where you live?

Went to the supermarket today which was busy and only a few people were wearing masks. Nearly everyone was not. I have noticed over the last few months the amount of mask-wearing going down, and now very few people wear masks outside of the GPs surgery 9where they are still compulsory).
So are people wearing masks where you live, or have they mainly given up?

I don't see them that often.. but then they are not mandatory anymore so it is no surprise.

It depends on the shop. Our local Asda/Aldi quite an elderly town is still about 60/40 in favour of masks. The big Tesco in the city is more like 10/90, quite a multicultural young population.

I would say it's mainly young families 20/30s, parents of school aged children that aren't masked, I guess they don't see the point when they are around it all day long.

I still wear mine, but it hasn't prevented yet another cold, 2nd one in 8 weeks.

I'm in Scotland and while mask-wearing is slightly down, the majority are still wearing them in shops, moving around in restaurants etc.

I'm in the Midlands and often work in London, there's not that many people wearing masks but nor is it unusual- kind of think its seen as fine either way now.

I live in London,very few mask wearers in the supermarket.

The thought of not wearing a mask on the train and tube is 🤮 to me. I feel like it might help prevent me from catching colds too.

I work in a theatre and all theatre staff front of house and back stage have to wear masks…. But barely anyone in the audience does 🤷‍♀️

Well Boris bawbag and his sidekicks told everyone in England that it was no longer compulsory so there’s your answer. Having visited London recently I was genuinely shocked with the lack of mask wearing, like everyone listened to bawbag Confused

SG continues to make it compulsory for the majority who seem to be adhering.

Where we are there have been no mitigation’s since June. Numbers are down and very few in hospital. Boosters are underway.

It’s ripping through schools not as testing isn’t compulsory and if you do decided to go for a PCR you are quarantined until the result. Other household members are free to go out and about and can if they want to, do 7 day LFT. There’s no track or trace being done especially a round children. Schools don’t report cases.

Apart from travel for the unvaccinated, we are free to come and go. Unvaccinated are tested on return, quarantined until test result. There’s no required to isolate away from others in separate dwellings.
Those jabbed can mix as usual.

No restrictions on gatherings and no requirement to show covid passes/negative LFT. No checking in or out of establishments.

Masks are for hospitals and doctors only.

It hasn’t been the high numbers originally predicted. We feel safe and happy to mix. I’ve had covid the rest of my family haven’t.

As well as wearing a mask I'm still using hand sanitiser and cleaning my trolley at the supermarket.
Wouldn't say I'm paranoid about covid ( had it 6 weeks ago) it's more a habit now.

100% wear them, but I'm in Germany where they're compulsory, we're only allowed FFP2 and you are not allowed to enter a shop/train station or anywhere else, if you're not wearing one.

Yes- inside and out, other than "strenuous outdoor exercise" and eating or drinking (and private homes). It's a criminal offence not to over age 2. There are no exemptions. I'm in Hong Kong. We have a zero covid policy. It's not all it's cracked up to be Grin

Eh? What does that even mean? Germany has fully vaccinated 67.4% of its population. The UK stands at 68.4% (you can google this).

There aren't 'many' people refusing the vaccine, where did you get that from? Please name reputable sources, not 'the British media'.

For the same reason people were wearing them on the school run last year, or disinfecting their shopping, I guess? Pretty pointless going with the info we have now, but also mandated in some parts of the world so it's not like you can always choose.

Some people are nuts. I know a couple who go out in their car together in masks. They live together, share a bed etc. But a car somehow means Covid will appear and get them. Just bonkers!

The problem with mask wearing is the contradiction. People will moan about a lack of mask wearing in the supermarket due to risk, but will happily sit in coffee shops and restaurants for hours on end without one and are prepared to accept the risk in those environments. This is despite the fact that supermarkets are far more spacious and you are less likely to linger.

Although mask wearing is still compulsory in Scotland, I have noticed fewer people are adhering to the rules. We are fed up of it and last weekend I just didn’t bother in a shopping centre.

Because it's a faff to keep putting masks on and off? If you've just been wearing one on the bus and you're about to go into the GP surgery, you might not bother to take it off.

I've just been to London for three days and found myself just leaving mine on much of the time. I was already holding a bag and my debit card for the Underground, and often wanted to sanitise my hands as well, so pulling the mask on and off was a bother.
