Did you get covid after having both vaccines?

And if so how sick were you and which brand was it?

From the reading I've done Pfizer and the others are better at preventing symptomatic covid than Astra Zeneca. Although AZ is as good at preventing hospitalisation.

I think more people over 40 who've had both are testing positive per 100000 than unvaccinated people. So there's prob a lot of people. But risk of serious illness much lower.

I had my 2nd Pfizer in July then caught covid in September was like a headcold blocked nose sneezing sore eyes and terrible headache lasting 2 days.

WensleydaleCrumbs · 19/10/2021 19:59

I caught Covid in July after my Pfizer vaccines in February and April.

I was sick enough to stay in bed for 2 days with a fever and extreme tiredness and had a cough that lasted 6 weeks. I'd say despite the cough going on for what felt like forever, it took me 2 weeks to feel reasonably human again.

dg93 · 19/10/2021 19:59

I've had both vaccines (my second less than a week ago) and I have caught covid.

My partner has had both vaccines for a few months now and he's really unwell, extremely sore back, runny nose, headache, sweating and out of breath from just walking upstairs.

My symptoms just feel like having a cold/flu but I'm BOILING 24/7... although my temperature is fairly normal 😊

dg93 · 19/10/2021 20:00

Sorry, forgot to mention we both had the Pfizer vaccines

Tigerwhocameforsupper · 19/10/2021 20:00

I’ve had 2 doses of Pfizer and caught covid last week.

My DH had his third dose 3 weeks ago and it seems to have prevented him from catching covid from me so far.

Bert2020 · 19/10/2021 20:01

I had AZ, caught covid in August despite being super careful with masks, handwash and not going out too often. I only knew I had it because of positive lft.

Yellow85 · 19/10/2021 20:02

2xAZ cold like symptoms, tight chest and no taste or smell. Not fairing too badly. Day 5

Tryingtryingandtrying · 19/10/2021 20:03

Try the gov Covid surveillance reports, week 38 most recent I think. Pretty detailed info on there with regard to this

SummerHouse · 19/10/2021 20:08

Two AZ. I just sneeze every now and then.

TumtumTree · 19/10/2021 20:10

DH and I have had both vaccines (AZ) and we managed to escape getting it when our DC got it a couple of weeks ago. We didn't isolate strictly at home (although we did try to a bit) so I assume we can thank the vaccines for that.

onthinice · 19/10/2021 20:12

2 x pfizer. Currently have covid. Much worse than a cold, but not as bad as (people tell me) flu. Worst part is the exhaustion and brain fog. My mum has it at the same time (caught off same person) 2 x AZ- just a cold.

sachaf08 · 19/10/2021 20:12

I had 2xAz, second one in may. Caught covid 2 weeks ago,had two days of fever and cold symptoms, then cough and lost sense of smell. I feel almost normal now except I’m very tired and still coughing a bit. Tbh for me, I’ve definitely had worse viruses. Didn’t have to stay in bed.

Rina66 · 19/10/2021 20:13

Yes, back in Aug after I'd had both AZ vaccines (March & June). Still feel tired, smell and taste not properly recovered either.

GiveMeDreamies · 19/10/2021 20:21

2 X AZ. Currently on day 6, feeling pretty ill with fever, cough, headache.

DH also 2 X AZ and just a little sneezing.

Tatum1234 · 19/10/2021 20:21

I had AZ and had Covid last week. Didn’t feel too bad at all, just tired and with a bad cough.

Bobholll · 19/10/2021 20:24

I had two doses of Pfizer. Just had covid. It’s been pretty shit, very similar to flu I had a few years ago. Unbelievable sinus pain, congestion, fever, aches, loss of smell & taste. Then on day 10, I started coughing 😩 I’m two weeks in now & still feeling rough. But just trying to build up my strength slowly with gentle walks, the school run, a bit of cleaning in the house etc! I’ll get there!

FTMworrier · 19/10/2021 20:30

Pfizer for me, caught it about 2 weeks after my 2nd jab. Blocked nose and headache for a day or so, wouldn’t have thought anything of it in what used to be normal life

Arsewangry · 19/10/2021 20:33

I had two AZ doses, the last one was in May and caught Covid last week (so did DH and he had 2 doses of AZ too). Both ds also came down with it but were very fortunate to have only very slight symptoms. I have felt the most unwell I have ever felt. Started off with a a tickly dry cough head ache, fever and chills, sore eyes and I'm 9 days in now and still struggling with coughing and have had awful diarrhoea. I also had a bad night where my mind was obsessing over a particular thought process and I was driving myself crazy. We have no idea where we caught it from as we work from home and haven't been out much.

Noonoo8589 · 19/10/2021 20:33

I’m 36. Double jabbed with pfizer in feb and April (presume I was invited early due to being born with a hole in my heart but healed up and I was discharged when I was 5 and never had a problem since).
I caught covid early October and was just a heavy cold for me with no smell. Didn’t have a cough.
I didn’t isolate/distance from 4 year old dd or unvaccinated dh and neither caught it from me.

pcofmushu · 19/10/2021 20:36

My dad currently has covid, he had both vaccines (AZ). My mum also has covid and she has had both doses of Pfizer. Dad had worse symptoms than mum (although nothing more than a really heavy cold) and I would say this is more down to his medical history and general body type than the vaccine. Feeling grateful that neither of them have worse symptoms, and relief that they have both jabs. Makes me wonder how bad it could be without the vaccines!

Libertynan · 19/10/2021 20:37

No.

I had 2x AZ and haven't had Covid

TreaslakeandBack · 19/10/2021 20:41

Had AZ and caught it 2 months after dose 2. I had all the symptoms and felt fairly rubbish but like a bad cold really. No lasting effects.
Had Pfizer booster a few weeks ago.

Stormystar · 19/10/2021 20:46

Currently have covid, after going for a pcr as a close contact. No symptoms whatsoever. Had Pfizer feb and April. Would never have known as lft still negative

TheVolturi · 19/10/2021 20:48

I had both pfizer and dh had both astra. We were both poorly almost identically. Three days of fever and aches, bad headache and generally crappy, with heavy cold symptoms. Then it miraculously lifted a bit each day, we were better a week later. Tight chest for another week then fine.
