Did you get covid after having both vaccines?

And if so how sick were you and which brand was it?

From the reading I've done Pfizer and the others are better at preventing symptomatic covid than Astra Zeneca. Although AZ is as good at preventing hospitalisation.

2x Pfizer for me. In bed for 4 days, headaches, tiredness and brain fog for another week or so. Exhaustion was my main symptom. I’m still very tired, struggling to get through each day- very emotional as I just want to rest.

RavingAnnie · 19/10/2021 20:58

My DH and I both had covid a couple of months ago after being double vaccinated and we were both very ill with it - bad flu ill, not hospital ill. I had Pfizer, he had AZ.

We had quite different symptoms. He was off work for a week, I was off for three weeks, but I do have underlying health conditions (albeit nothing that makes me CEV). We are in our late 40s.

My DS and his GF have both just had it - they were double vaccinated with Pfizer, plus she had just had a booster as she's CEV. They were ill, and off work for a short period but seemed to have heavy cold type symptoms, and weren't as unwell as we were.

Had another friend, double vaccinated, CEV - all she had was loss of smell and taste, no other symptoms, I don't know what vaccine she had but probably Pfizer as she was vaccinated early on.

Thanks for replies. I do wonder whether response to the vaccine affects how well it works.

But then I know people who've had Covid, been vaccinated then caught it again

RossPoldarksWife · 19/10/2021 21:10

Best friends brother caught COVID after double jabs of Pfizer.
He’s been really ill. Touch and go couple of times for calling 999.
He’s convinced he’d have died if he’d not had the jabs.

Thank goodness he did 🙁

KatieMcKatie · 19/10/2021 21:16

I have had 2 x AZ. Had covid last week, wiped out for 6 days.

MargaretFaffter · 19/10/2021 21:16

Have it currently, tested positive last week.

I’m double jabbed, both AZ.

No symptoms - only found I was positive by chance.

Paris14eme · 19/10/2021 21:20

Yes. Got 2 Astra jabs (last Feb & May), am fit and healthy 50 yo who caught it from my teenage son who passed it on to other family members. They (kids) were ok but I was really ill in bed for a solid week or more, really bad…. Couldn’t breathe properly, headaches, aches & pains, fatigue, no sense of taste or smell. Horrible experience despite being fully vaccinated.

claracluck1978 · 19/10/2021 21:25

2 x Pfizer here (Feb and April) and have just finished my 10 days after testing positive last weekend

It's not been nice, at all, with headaches, fatigue, brain fog and so so achey. The cough has been awful and I'm still suffering at night as it wakes me up a dozen times a night. BUT, I'm relieved it wasn't worse.

My DP had the same jabs as me and was about the same.

It may take us another week or so hopefully to get back to full strength!

EmmalinaC · 19/10/2021 21:26

Yes, 2 x AZ. Did LFT because I felt really weird - disconnected and emotional - and it came back positive.

Was tired for a couple of days with symptoms a bit like hayfever but fine by day 4. Sense of smell still comes and goes 6 weeks later...

No one else in the household got it (DH and DCs 12 and 15)

IdLoveToButCantBeArsed · 19/10/2021 21:29

2 x AZ, covid in August, felt pretty awful for a week (sickness, diarrhoea, headaches, fever, cough, sore throat, streaming nose, aching limbs), exhausted for a few weeks more. Normally a pretty healthy 46 year old.

Summergarden · 19/10/2021 21:29

Nope, both DH and I have been lucky and avoided it despite 2 of our DCs having Covid recently.

I had Pfizer, 2nd dose was in May.
DH had AZ, 2nd dose in August.

Same thing happened to one of the DCs classmates, both kids got Covid but the double jabbed parents never did.

coffeepleeease · 19/10/2021 21:32

Yes, husband I both had AZ. Both caught Covid - his main symptom was a horrible cough but he does have asthma. I just felt really lethargic and had a bad headache for a few days

userxx · 19/10/2021 21:34

Yes, Pfizer x 2.

Vallmo47 · 19/10/2021 21:36

Yes 2x Az. Husband also had 2x AZ and didn’t catch it. My daughter first caught it at school. Her older brother has mingled with loads more kids and still not caught it. It seems SO random to me who covid attacks…
I had mild symptoms except for a burning/ tight chest thing that reminded me of previous chest infections. I still get out of breath very easily 2 weeks later.

SO thankful for vaccines all the same.

PivotPivotPivottt · 19/10/2021 22:01

2x Pfizer. No symptoms except loss of taste and smell. Had one day where I felt rubbish, headachey and pressure in my sinuses but I've had worse bugs/hangovers.

Derrymum123 · 19/10/2021 22:09

2x AZ in March and May then caught it in August. Cough for a week or so. Loss of taste and smell for 10 days. Unbelievable tiredness but thankfully no serious complications.

awonderfuladventure · 19/10/2021 22:13

I had a positive PCR yesterday and double vaccinated with AZ. Feel terrible, have done for days. Bed ridden, fever, cough, headache, bad cold, sore throat. God knows what I'd be like if I wasn't vaccinated. It's no fun.

TeamRick · 19/10/2021 22:17

2 x AZ last one in May, I caught Covid 2 weeks ago, I'm 54 and asthmatic & ended up needing a course of antibiotics and a course of steroids!
I felt really poorly! ☹️

gogginsmrs · 19/10/2021 22:23

Az double vaxxed - caught covid in Sep. Hospitalised with covid pneumonia for 5 days on oxygen, dexamethasone and 2 x antibiotics. Hospitalised again for 2 further days with a dvt and pulmonary embolism -again covid induced. Recovering now.

Brightermornings · 19/10/2021 22:29

2 x az March and June. Tested positive Sunday. Lft negative but lost sense of taste. No smell now. Bit of a cough but I'm asthmatic so not unusual this time of year. Other than that fine. Not sure if I'll get more symptoms. I've also got high blood pressure overweight and I'm 47

Silkieschickens · 19/10/2021 22:29

Yes and on week 5 of it, vomitted and diorrehea 5 times in last 24 hours, collapsed on bathroom floor, shaking, boiling hot, grim. Azx2. Hospital is rammed and you have to wait outside for 4 hours first according to press reports and hospital website says avoid.

Katya213 · 19/10/2021 22:30

Covid has been in my household twice now and I've not caught it. I've had astrazeneca and the people who I live with had Pfizer. I think it's swings and roundabouts really.

Bimblesalong · 19/10/2021 22:33

2x Pfeizer last one in May. Currently have the rona. Bedbound, streaming nose, sneezing and headache. Very tired. Hoping I can just work thru it with rest and fluids and decent nutrition. Max painkillers don’t touch the headache tho.

Ds also has it and gave it to me. He is 2x AZ and has had a snotty cold. He’s bounced back easier.

Chisontoast · 19/10/2021 22:36

2 x AZ and caught Covid earlier this month. Totally floored me for a week but only smell and taste are an issue now.
