Yes it seems like the narrative has changed. They will probably introduce some restrictions.

Schulte · 19/10/2021 13:11

I bloody hope so.

makemineadoubleshot · 19/10/2021 13:22

They are drip feeding ...

I don't want to believe the conspiracy theories ... but if they put plan b in place I'll find it hard to believe it's not just to pass pointless vaccine passports for UK events etc

Currently vaccine passports are allowing those in isolation/those who may suspect they have covid but don't test/those who have no idea they actually have covid and unfortunately those who know they have covid ... to still get on planes and go on holiday.

The only people leaving the country and entering the country that are testing are the unvaccinated.

Absolutely nothing makes sense anymore. But did it ever?

dilly123 · 19/10/2021 13:25

Plan B includes the very unfair domestic health passports which has always been the plan so yes we are heading that way regardless of infection rates!

The people can decide what they comply to though!

edisonbulb · 19/10/2021 13:32

I just don't know why they don't mandate mask now. It's not that difficult.

What do you honestly think masks will do? Scotland have mandatory masks - look at their case rates.

The vast, vast majority of people will keep the same mask in their car/coat pocket and pull it out when forced to wear one. What use do you honestly believe this is?

Masks are a measure to appease the anxious. Nothing more.

If this thread is for government research it's a no from me thanks Boris Wink

Work from home then?

Is the jury even clear on masks?

Yep, this is me. I only chuck a mask away when it becomes fluffy inside.

We've even been know to share masks in our house too :)

Remmy123 · 19/10/2021 13:42

Masks are a waste of time - when people / families get together no one is in a mask so it spreads.

I hope they are not reintroduced.

confuseddotcom090 · 19/10/2021 13:57

Some random comment on daily Mail few months back said her husbands printing firm had the posters for the planned November lockdown.

Make of that what you will. I feel like government think it's an option worth planning for.

Depends where they're travelling to. Some countries still require negative test as well as double vaccination.
Lostinacloud · 19/10/2021 14:08

The whole “plan B” thing is a carefully choreographed piece of propaganda. “Plan B” has been “plan A” from the start; they just knew that vaccine passports were not popular and needed a reason and scenario to help the majority accept them as necessary.
So…
Step 1 - freedom day - most restrictions removed and speak of covid in the news drastically reduces to encourage people to return to as close to normal as possible and almost forget about it for a while after a previous year of stress and uncertainty.
Step 2 - keep covid news on the downlow but be sure to continue testing twice as much as any other European country and publish daily high case rates.
Step 3 - around Autumn time when winter respiratory virus season approaches, start ramping up news of NHS in crisis and queues of ambulances with no sign of decreasing cases.
Step 4 - “regrettably” introduce plan B as there really is no other option and the majority of people don’t want to miss Christmas again or be locked down.
Step 5 - Plan B accepted by enough of the population who have been convinced that it’s a good idea.

Sounds like conspiracy, plays out in actual real life.

A shame many people have forgotten by then that vaccines don’t stop spread and so what difference does a vaccine passport make? But unfortunately, countries like France and Germany introduced theirs as their 4th waves started on the natural downturn and so it looks like it works.

As someone who currently lives in France and has witnessed the horrific discrimination taking place due to the covid passport, including teens no longer able to play football at their local club unless fully vaccinated or tested every time they go (not home test) I urge as many people as possible not to accept this step. The unvaccinated are not causing excess hospitalisations or deaths and don’t stop your vaccine working, this is an awful rhetoric that only fuels the discrimination and allows the acceptance of them being excluded from society. Britain is not a country that accepts such discrimination and should not become one.

The unvaccinated are not causing excess hospitalisations or deaths
In Ireland, 90% of adults are vaccinated. Only 30% of ICU patients are unvaccinated. That means that 70% of the ICU patients are coming from only 10% of the population. The unvaccinated are very definitely having a disproportionate impact on the health system.

makemineadoubleshot · 19/10/2021 14:18

@Lostinacloud Sad

I wish I had something more to say - but you've just said it all.

I just hope Plan B Buggers off

Lostinacloud · 19/10/2021 14:18

Well yes, that’s one way of looking at it! Or you could say that 30% of patients in ICU are unvaccinated and 70% are vaccinated Confused

ok, I've read that and re-read that but I still can't work out what you mean.
SpringRainbow · 19/10/2021 14:19

I always expected at least the return of some restrictions back in the winter. So if plan b becomes a reality then I really won’t be surprised.

However, the media tone suggests that plan b is definitely on the table.

The big question will be how long will it take them to put it into place. They will most likely drag this out.

CyclingIsNotOuting · 19/10/2021 14:22

Jesus don’t ask for wfh to return, I’ve only just got rid of DH back to the office last month!!! After 18 months of wfh it’s any wonder we are still married.

Werehamster · 19/10/2021 14:22

I think the government is going to have a tough time trying to reinstitute any restrictions. Now the masks are off, people aren't going to want to put them back on again. Plus Boris is a people-pleaser. He won't stand against popular opinion.

Dancerinthedark01 · 19/10/2021 14:23

Strong No from me on Plan B too.
