Bloody hell - covid booster and flu jab hell

Just a woe is me.

NHS worker. Had my covid booster and flu jab together on Friday - 1 in each arm. I feel DREADFUL. My arms are bruised and dead feeling - can't lift them up, carry stuff or drive etc and can't sleep - every time I move it's bloody agony.

I'm quite sensitive to jabs anyway. Previous covid jabs made me feel sick and headachy (not this time though) - but I'm always used to have my good arm free. Not this time - 1 in each arm is brutal!

In schools…

Well, COVID one is done and I'm feeling nothing. Very different from first and second COVID jabs as I had a sore arm within a few hours with those.

So the plan has changed, I'm going out Christmas shopping tomorrow after I've had the flu jab. Yay for being vaccinated!

I'm NHS and had both last week. Advice which we followed from our occy health team was to relax arms as much as possible when they're going in and then move around as much as possible afterwards. I took paracetamol immediately and then repeated after 4 hours twice. Had a sore Covid arm for a few hours on the eve of the jabs but had no choice but to pick up my heavy toddler while suffering. Felt almost nothing the following day. Similar experiences for my colleagues.

@Damnyoureyes

Me too. The sleeping is non existent because of the painful arms!

Paracetamol is magical stuff though and it’s only lasted 24 hours tbh so glad I’m all done in one go.
Agree with OP, bloody brutal!

After my second vaccine I couldn't dress myself properly the next morning my arm was that sore (otherwise fine) so I wouldn't get them both together. I'm not due a booster for a while anyway.

Had both jabs together this week and was worse than after 1st and 2nd covid jabs. Had pfizer for booster and Astrazenica for the first 2, not sure if that makes a differenxe. Im glad to have got them done, but also glad i picked the day before my day off so i had time to recover. Was quite groggy with a mild fever the day after and still not quite right 3 days on.

Thanks for starting this thread OP.

I had my flu and covid jabs today and am fully expecting to feel rubbish later. It's reassuring to read about other people's experiences.

I’ve had my booster on Wednesday and felt truly shit since I woke up on Thursday. Bit better today but still not right. Meant to have my flu jab on Wednesday and think I’m going to shift it to the following week, feel maybe my body needs a break! I’m glad I got the jab but didn’t expect to feel as wiped out.

NotMyselfWithoutCoffee · 16/10/2021 20:17

@couldbewrong

For me it hit really hard with the second Pfizer (had side effects for a couple days) and my booster I was unwell the next day but after that I was fine.
Both times I had a temp, flu like pains including sore arm and tired/weak. Just felt really rubbish and also my dh.
I know some people aren't as bad though and I only had a slightly sore arm with my flu jab.

Kummerspeck · 16/10/2021 20:29

I had the Covid booster one week and the flu jab exactly a week later. Had an oddly itchy arm from the first and nothing at all from the second.

CouldBeWrong · 17/10/2021 17:09

Just an update to say I had both yesterday morning and I've felt absolutely fine. Bit of a sore arm but no other side effects.

(I felt awful after both my previous covid vaccines.)

Duckrace · 19/10/2021 11:00

I was fine with both a couple of weeks ago.

gingerlyme · 19/10/2021 11:03

Oh no I'm due too.
But I feel poorly this week and frightened it's going to set me back again.
I know I'm going to need them, because of my weakened immunity. But...... Sad

nordicnorth · 21/10/2021 12:58

Had both this week and apart from a bit of tiredness and swollen lymph nodes in my armpit I've been fine too. It's nice to have a warning though so thank you OP!

NotMyCat · 24/10/2021 01:03

I've got my covid third vaccine tomorrow and had my flu jab today!
Arm is very sore after the flu one
