Am I going to die :(

My husband has just had a positive LFT.

I’m absolutely petrified. I’m extremely obese with a BMI of 40.

I am fully vaccinated but I have had two different vaccines. 1 AZ and 1 Pfizer.

I feel physically sick with worry. 😓

@Iwannabelikeyouohh

I’m so mad at myself. If I wasn’t so fat I probably wouldn’t be so worried.

I’ve had so much time to lose weight and I’ve put all of my time into worrying about Covid and making myself scared, anxious, depressed.

It’s put a stain on my marriage, my job, my friendships.

I know everyone on here has always told me how bad I am.

Now Covid is actually in my house!

I just have to hope and pray I don’t suffer badly, or thar any of my family don’t either.

OP, I remember your old posts, feel for you now being confronted with the realities of Covid in your house and your clinically vulnerable MIL. I've noticed from your posts that you can be very hard on yourself and also elicit a lot of frustration from posters. Out of control anxiety can fixate people and when it becomes a long term problem, like you have said upthread, it makes you focus on the overriding fear instead of taking a more balanced view and action. You can't get out of the anxiety state if you don't let go a bit and part of letting go is not seeking reassurance and not getting more uncomfortable from getting negative emotions from others. You reassurance seek and you self-criticise and elicit criticism - all things that keep your fear and low state going. Has your psychologist introduced any compassion tools into your therapy? If not, I'd ask them about it... Hoping for you that no one will be very ill and a better life is around the corner for you Flowers

I’m logging off now. I can’t deal with this forum right now.

I honestly feel like people are trying to catch me out or making me out to be irresponsible or some sort of Covid spreader 😣

@Iwannabelikeyouohh

That was in regards to you going on holiday, and I do apologise, you didn't specify shops - you said If I went indoors I’d wear a mask, as I always do.

My point is that if you went indoors knowing that close contacts had tested positive, and there's a likelihood you will too in the coming days, going indoors (mask or not) is probably a risk not worth taking - and for someone so scared of covid, I'd hope you would understand the risk you may have been placing others in. Government guidelines or not. Happily however, you've decided to do the right thing and stay home.

Sweettea1 · 11/10/2021 12:48

Op don't stress to much about it. Am over weight also like you suffer panic and anxiety I was so scared when ds caught it then next day I tested positive aswell the fear of becoming really ill/death was actually worse than covid itself.
Ive had worse colds I had 2 bad days which was the worst headache I've ever had then was fine again. Am quite happy now we have had it its out the way an shouldn't get it again now for a few months atleast altho my dd5 never caught it which is strange as I certainly couldn't isolate from her she was allowed to continue going to school aswell.

Mickarooni · 11/10/2021 13:05

Anxiety is irrational. It sounds like @Iwannabelikeyouohh is in a state of very intense anxiety. The best support and probably the only support from MN is to keep encouraging OP to work with her psychologist and do lots of other things to keep calm. They’re different for everyone; go for a walk, listening to music or whatever works. Good luck. Flowers

squee123 · 11/10/2021 13:43

Sorry to hear your DS has tested positive. I imagine he's feeding lots because your body is making him lots of antibodies given you're double jabbed. It will help him fight it off so it's great that he is feeding lots.

I know it is a really difficult and worrying time for you, but I'm really hoping that this is a turning point for you. If everyone comes through this OK hopefully this will allow you to move past your anxiety. If you're going to get covid this is likely when you will. So if you don't get it now then hopefully you'll be much less concerned for the future x

sleepwouldbenice · 11/10/2021 20:46

OP I am actually looking forward to this time next week when you will be able to update. Yes you might well get it, but it really probably wont be as bad as you have thought, and you will be able to look forward to a happier, calmer future. Best wishes to you. x

makelovenotpetrol · 12/10/2021 06:32

Definitely positive. I could see from the thumbnail pic without even clicking on it to make it bigger

Iwannabelikeyouohh · 12/10/2021 06:56

My brother is positive now 😩

He called to our house on Friday (before we knew anyone was positive)
He only stayed half an hour and I had all my windows and back door open too! 😔

OP posts:
IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 12/10/2021 07:01

It’s a virus so it’s spreading like it does. Fresh air and masks help but they don’t stop it.
If you’ve chosen to mix with others then there is always the risk of getting it. That’s why people were told to shield initially as the less contact the less chance of getting it.

Merryway85 · 12/10/2021 07:15

Hi iwannabelikeyou I hope you’re doing ok. There are some horrible goading people on this forum which I have found out in the last few days.

Just to reassure you I am 40+ and very overweight and I have only had heavy cold like symptoms and am feeling mostly better a day or two later. The odds are you will be absolutely fine. Please try not to stress too much as stress has a negative impact on your immune system xx

squee123 · 12/10/2021 07:33

I'm sorry to hear that OP. How is everyone feeling? Have you tested again?

Book another PCR.
Iwannabelikeyouohh · 12/10/2021 08:54

@squee123

I'm sorry to hear that OP. How is everyone feeling? Have you tested again?
@squee123

DH has now lost his smell.

DS has no symptoms (he may not be able to smell or taste but he’s too young to tell us ☹️)

FIL - Very tired and has a heavy cold

MIL - very bad cough as tight chest (she was shielding last year, she has COPD)

BIL - No symptoms

SIL - feels unwell (unvaccinated)

Nephew - has a cough

My Brother - No Smell or taste

I haven’t tested with PCR since Sunday, I have done a lateral flow Monday and today but I’m not sure I even trust them now.

How often am I supposed to be doing a PCR?

OP posts:
PurpleDaisies · 12/10/2021 08:56

You don’t need a new pcr unless you get symptoms or a positive lft.

sleepwouldbenice · 12/10/2021 09:00

You can do another PCR as close contact. If it would make you feel better then do it straight away but I would leave a couple of days to give more assurance, and do another in a week

OP yes you will probably get it

But you will very very probably be fine. We are here to hold your hand x

LIZS · 12/10/2021 09:00

@PurpleDaisies

You don’t need a new pcr unless you get symptoms or a positive lft.
I think as a close contact a pcr is recommended. You could be non symptomatic otherwise. Perhaps test again tomorrow.
PurpleDaisies · 12/10/2021 09:01

She did a pcr literally two days ago.

Iwannabelikeyouohh · 12/10/2021 09:04

I did a PCR on Sunday. I can’t keep doing them every few days?

I’ll do daily lateral flows then do another PCR at the weekend.
I’m not going anywhere so I can’t put anyone at risk.

OP posts:
LIZS · 12/10/2021 09:13

But you need to know when(if) your infection starts to know how long to isolate for. If you leave it to the weekend or until you show symptoms potentially you could miss work unnecessarily.

PurpleDaisies · 12/10/2021 09:15

@LIZS

But you need to know when(if) your infection starts to know how long to isolate for. If you leave it to the weekend or until you show symptoms potentially you could miss work unnecessarily.
That’s not part of the criteria for booking a pcr. The op has done one since her contact. She is isolating at home. On what basis do you think she should book another?
Iwannabelikeyouohh · 12/10/2021 09:31

@LIZS

But you need to know when(if) your infection starts to know how long to isolate for. If you leave it to the weekend or until you show symptoms potentially you could miss work unnecessarily.
@LIZS

But that could be that case for anyone couldn’t it.

There’s no criteria for having a PCR every few days.
I only had one Sunday.

I’m about to do a LFT now.

OP posts:
Quartz2208 · 12/10/2021 09:32

The recommendation now is daily LFTs. There used to be one for Day 8 (to tie in with leaving isolation) that would make sense I guess as well - so you know you are clear when you do go out again

Iwannabelikeyouohh · 12/10/2021 09:35

I just keep thinking now, what if my brother didn’t catch it from DH / DS on Friday.

My brother said he felt really tired on Saturday, Sunday he had a headache, Monday he got a positive.

He’s not going to catch it that quickly is he?

If my brother already had it then he could’ve passed it to me.

What if he has a different strain than the rest of my family and I catch a worse strain. 😩

Budapestdreams · 12/10/2021 09:40

OP, I know this is a scary time for you but you have been incredibly responsible throughout the pandemic. If your DS had been negative you should have gone on your holiday, although obviously you can't now and have cancelled it. Don't let people on here bully and guilt trip you.

I also remember how scared you were of the vaccine, but you had both doses in the end so you have the best protection possible. You couldn't have done any more and you should be very proud of yourself.

I know that your DH is no longer isolating from you but you can still both wear masks round the house. Your baby is little so won't shed much virus, you are less likely to catch it from a baby or child than from an adult.

Use every technique you know to stay calm, and keep getting as much support as you can. You are doing brilliantly!
