Am I going to die :(

My husband has just had a positive LFT.

I’m absolutely petrified. I’m extremely obese with a BMI of 40.

I am fully vaccinated but I have had two different vaccines. 1 AZ and 1 Pfizer.

I feel physically sick with worry. 😓

Flowers and Brew

Statistically - no.

I understand the worry. Best thing to do is to accept you are worried, remind yourself that the statistics are very, very much in your favour, and try to rest and eat well.

Bobholll · 08/10/2021 21:48

Seems pretty unlikely.

Just take it a day at a time. Breathe. Isolate from him if you can. No point panicking while you feel fine..

Twillow · 08/10/2021 21:49

Sorry you're frightened. There's no guarantee you'll catch it even from someone in the household.
Have you been able to work on lowering your BMI over the pandemic to decrease your risk (from many health issues)?

parietal · 08/10/2021 21:50

no you are not

you are fully vaccinated and you are not old enough to be at risk from your age.

Iwannabelikeyouohh · 08/10/2021 21:51

@Twillow

Yes I have. My mental health hasn’t been very good and I’ve not been in the best frame of mine to diet.

But I have been trying to eat well, exercise etc.

My morbidly obese, diabetic, 60+ year old aunt survived it without so much as a hospital stay.

But I am at great risk because of my size 😓

I was worried when DH tested positive as my BMI was similar to yours. Covid was mild for me and I was unvaccinated. It's not a death sentence. Thousands of obese people have had covid and been fine.

Hope your DH gets well soon and you remain ok.

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 08/10/2021 21:53

Flowers No. It’s very unlikely that you’ll even be hospitalised, and that’s assuming you catch it from him. You’ve been vaccinated which will help prevent you getting it, and even if you get it it will reduce the chance of you being seriously ill.

My DM is 82 with various conditions and she got Covid before the vaccines arrived. She’s fine. Please try not to worry too much. I hope your DH is not feeling too bad.

Iwannabelikeyouohh · 08/10/2021 21:53

My Sil’s sister age 71, obese and diabetic was asymptomatic!

Bil with severe asthma had a mild sniffle.

Friends Dh age 65 had a blocked nose.

Morgan12 · 08/10/2021 21:55

Aw bless you.

No I'd say you're chances of survival are definitely good.

I really hope you can feel better soon. Keep talking on here if it keeps you sane.

Strangevipers · 08/10/2021 21:55

You are young ! So I likely but

Understandably you are worried any concerns or problems contact the doctor immediately

Strangevipers · 08/10/2021 21:56

Unlikely *

happytoday73 · 08/10/2021 21:56

Very unlikely...
Double vaccinated is good.
I know it's really hard but you need to worry about things you can control not that you can't....
So....
.. What can you do to distract yourself but also keep yourself safer?
.... Sleep in another room?
..... Use a different bathroom?
... He stays in one room.. You drop food off at door?
Ventilate the house...
... He could drive for PCR on his own with you going separately...
..... Totally agree with previous posters.. Try to have some relaxing time and take it one day at a time... Loads of people don't get it from their partner

Idontgiveagriffindamn · 08/10/2021 21:56

You’re not at great risk because of your size you’re at increased risk which is different.
That risk is only one risk factor. You’re doubly vaccinated which lowers your risk. And most of al you don’t actually have it. And you’re not Sue your husband has it. LFTs are an indicator and are not reliable.
I get you’re worried but you are catastrophising. Are you having help for your mental health?

Gardenlass · 08/10/2021 21:57

But I am at great risk because of my size This might have been true before the vaccination programme, but it certainly isn't the case now.
Double vaccinated people are unlikely to become seriously ill, and there are treatments now which weren't available at the beginning of the pandemic.
You are worrying over something which is extremely unlikely to happen.

LastStarfighter · 08/10/2021 21:57

Statistically, hundred of thousands of people with a higher BMI than you have had it and been fine Smile Flowers

LastStarfighter · 08/10/2021 22:02

Also, there was a risk calculator that I can’t seem to find now, but if I remember correctly a high BLI increased your baseline risk by something like 15%, but your baseline risk as a 35 year old woman was already low. As a 35 year old vaccinated woman your risk is TINY.

I also remember that having a high BMI raised my risk by the same amount as the risk factor of being male. So to put it another way … you have the same risk level as a healthy, vaccinated, perfect-BMI, 35 year old man!

Libraryghost · 08/10/2021 22:25

Deep breath! You know you are catastrophising this don’t you? You have had your vaccines and you will be fine. Work on getting your BMI down because realistically that’s the best thing you can do to improve your overall health. Even a small reduction will help. When you get anxious try and channel it into something positive. I always find walking helps me. It’s not easy when you are in panic mode I know but honestly covid is not your problem, anxiety is. X

Iwannabelikeyouohh · 08/10/2021 22:25

Here’s the test… DH is still adamant it’s negative….

OP posts:
Wineat5isfine · 08/10/2021 22:27

Firstly, LFT’s are not always reliable!

Get a PCR test - that may solve the issue.

Secondly, statistics are on your side. Especially if you are dble vax.

Find out for sure if he is Covid positive and then take the necessary precautions. Or if it makes you feel better, distance yourself in the house, keep windows open, lots of anti bac - there is only so much you can do.

But, don’t let it drive you mad! 💐
