It's gone very quiet. Has anyone heard about booster jabs being given in their area?

OP posts:

In our town centre they are offering walk in boosters to over 50s in the old Build a Bear shop.

AlpineSnow · 05/10/2021 15:21

I know of older people being offered it

LIZS · 05/10/2021 15:23

I went for my flu jab at the vaccination hub and there were older people getting both.

ILookAtTheFloor · 05/10/2021 15:24

My nan had it last week, she's 95 next month and got her first jab in December last year, and her 2nd in Jan - she was one of the very first people to get hers the first time, so by that measure they're very early in the booster cycle!

Busygoingblah · 05/10/2021 15:25

Yep, health/ social care workers can now book by the national booking service online as long as they are 180 days past their 2nd dose. I know a few people that have had it in the last week

ChequerBoard · 05/10/2021 15:26

You will get called for a booster if you are it the eligible groups e.g. over 50 and once it is at least 6 months from your second vaccine dose.

I'm expecting to get mine in December as I had my second jab in June.

Dobbyafreeelf · 05/10/2021 15:27

I've got my booster booked for next week. I'm a self employed carer

doodleygirl · 05/10/2021 15:27

I’m currently in the queue waiting for mine, CEV

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 05/10/2021 15:27

I had my booster over a week ago.

CornishYarg · 05/10/2021 15:30

Did a shift at a vaccine centre yesterday and lots of boosters were being given out, both booked appointments and walk ins. Plus some 2nd doses for younger people and a few flu jabs for under 65s.

notangelinajolie · 05/10/2021 15:30

FIL last week. He had his 2nd jab in January and was contacted by the vaccination centre who did his first jabs

madkittylady · 05/10/2021 15:36

I had my booster just over a week ago and tested positive for Covid the next day 🤦‍♀️

Oreocrumbs · 05/10/2021 15:37

Our heath trust has just opened the booking for frontline staff for covid booster and flu jabs.

borntobequiet · 05/10/2021 15:38

I had mine last week, booked at a local vaccination centre after NHS text but could also have gone through GP.

londonmummy1966 · 05/10/2021 15:39

Same as Yarg - we are giving the booster to prebooked and any over 50 who walks in and asks for it provided it is 6 months from their second jab.

Itawapuddytat · 05/10/2021 16:25

Just booked mine for next week at a local health centre. I am an NHS worker (Scotland)

Tellmewhat · 05/10/2021 16:28

I drove past my local vaccination centre today and was surprised to see it was closed.

I wondered about the boosters (elderly mother not contacted yet) and teenagers (too late for my dc though, they have Covid.)

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 05/10/2021 16:31

I got a text to tell me I could book mine using the NHS website - not sure if that’s because I’m over 50 or because I’m NHS staff but presume the former. The booking system has just opened at work though so I’m getting the flu and Covid jabs together on Saturday.

CornishYarg · 05/10/2021 16:33

I drove past my local vaccination centre today and was surprised to see it was closed.

Round here, the bigger vaccine sites are closing down but the GPs and smaller sites like pharmacies are still up and running

tootiredtospeak · 05/10/2021 16:35

Took my grandparents for theirs last week 87 and 82 South Yorkshire. My DP hasnalso had his 3rd vaccine ( not booster) he is immunosuppressed.

Scottishgirl85 · 05/10/2021 16:41

My husband had his last month. 36, healthy, works in hospital.

thatgingergirl · 05/10/2021 16:43

My parents had their booster jabs yesterday. They're in their late 80s.

Oblomov21 · 05/10/2021 16:48

I've booked mine a few weeks ago for end of October.

Jigsawprison · 05/10/2021 16:53

In our area its slowly being rolled out in the same way the first vaccines were rolled out.
However dc has only today got his letter to go for his 3rd vaccination - it was in the news this week that they've not finished asking the 500000 who need a third vaccination to come and these were said to be priority.

AlphaBetaZeta · 05/10/2021 17:04

Had mine at the same time as my flu vaccine this week (frontline NHS)
