Are people no longer bothered by Covid….?

Is anyone actually bothered about Covid?
From places I’ve been recently, everyone is just “normal”

I took my son to a toddler class this morning.

I walked in wearing my mask. Room full of 19 other adults and their toddlers.

Not one single adult had a mask on (expect me)
There was no distancing in the class.
It was as normal as normal can be.

I joined a new slimming class tonight.

Again I walked in wearing a mask. No one else had one on.
All chairs pushed up together, people sat close.

I don’t get it.

How can we go from distancing, mask wearing, avoiding people on walks (which is exactly what it was like) to nothing….

No I'm not bothered and getting on with my life... mask free!!!

GiveMeNovocain · 30/09/2021 18:37

I've had my vaccines. If I don't get on with life now when will I?

DoesHePlayTheFiddle · 30/09/2021 18:38

I still wear mine. People stare.

adrianmolesmole · 30/09/2021 18:39

Idgaf anymore. Still wear my mask when i remember to, but there C are so many other diseases around we need to have some perspective here.

GPs should definitely open up again thoughAngry it's ridiculous, it really is.

Dragonpox · 30/09/2021 18:40

I was never bothered. I conformed to the guidelines because other people were worried and I'm not heartless but now people are double jabbed then I don't see the point of walking about with a damp breathy piece of material over my face.

XenoBitch · 30/09/2021 18:41

Life has to go on at some point. That point is now.

Overthebow · 30/09/2021 18:42

No longer bothered. Just getting on with my life as normal now and have been for a while. So is everyone I know. I’m especially not going to wear a mask in toddler groups as I can’t properly interact with my baby.

Mrgrinch · 30/09/2021 18:42

Haven't worn a mask since they were made optional, with the exception of in the doctors.

CookPassBabtridge · 30/09/2021 18:42

I'm so glad to not wear a mask anymore.

SalsaLove · 30/09/2021 18:42

Lots of people where I live are still wearing masks especially in shops.

lovelyupnorth · 30/09/2021 18:43

Never did care about corona virus really.

Had my jabs followed the rules for others benefits. But it’s never remotely worried me.

I’m especially not going to wear a mask in toddler groups as I can’t properly interact with my baby.

This is a baby gym, lots of walking around using shared equipment etc.

I’m certainly a lot less anxious since my second jab, and the more I do without catching covid the less anxious I become. I still wear my mask on public transport if it’s busy or in crowded shops but I don’t if it’s quiet. Last Saturday night DP & I went out into town for the first time in 18 months to watch the Joshua fight. I was worried about going into that environment, but it was fine.

QuestionEverythingBaby · 30/09/2021 18:45

Everything back to normal round here, thank goodness.

Testarossa44 · 30/09/2021 18:45

My beloved dad passed away very suddenly on Monday from a blood clot caused by covid. It’s still out there, it’s an evil disease.

LadyCatStark · 30/09/2021 18:46

Nope no one I know could care less TBH.

Sorry for your loss 💐

The people who are bothered by Covid are still mostly staying at home, or meeting small groups of friends in their houses where they know everyone has been vaccinated.
So, if you're going to somewhere like a toddler group, you are self selecting people that are just getting on with things.

Eaumyword · 30/09/2021 18:48

I am. I wear a mask all day in work (school) but am almost the only one.
I am double vaccinated but fractionally under the booster age cutoff and with some underlying conditions.
I am worried about winter.
I've booked a flu jab for tomorrow (paid for it) and am going to hope for the best with that and Covid.
I am worried now they've started sending sick children waiting to go home to wait with me again including potential Covid infected children...

crayray · 30/09/2021 18:50

I don't care that much. I wore a mask today at work because I was dealing with a lot of students who had just arrived in the country (also because I have a bit of a sore throat and find it more comfortable to wear a mask).

Worryingly though, some of the students I met should have been self-isolating (because they've just arrived in the country) but had been told they didn't need to. One of them was adamant that they were told by someone at the airport that they would be able to go out and about and get themselves registered at the university before beginning their self-isolation 🤨

Good for you. I dread to think the damage masks have done to babies/toddlers development.

This.

I’m in various health groups with people (like me) who were in the clinically extremely vulnerable group and many of them are still hardly venturing out. To the point they’re still shielding despite shielding ending. (I’m just going about my daily life as normal now).

worriedatthemoment · 30/09/2021 18:51

People I am speaking to all say they feel its when they get it not if and people confused with the rule changes etc and a lot of people fed up as if the vaccinations don't protect you , what else is there ? How long do we sd for , wear masks etc
So yes a vast majority i know are now saying just have to live with it , not saying wether thats right or wrong just general consensus of the majority I know
Just a few being extra careful

changingstages · 30/09/2021 18:51

I care. DSS has Covid right now and it looks like DD does too. We experienced a big loss early this year. Someone I care about a lot is destroyed by long Covid. I really, really care. But I don't think anyone gives a fuck really. On a very busy train right now and I can see maybe... five people wearing a mask? I really hope you're all right and we're going to be ok but I do think, until the case numbers are lower, there should be more mitigations.

rolyisntittimefor · 30/09/2021 18:51

When will you deem it ok to be "normal"? Everyone who can be, and wants to be, is jabbed.

There are plenty of illnesses about. Always have been always will be. I don't know any toddlers with covid but plenty with hand foot and mouth!
