Hi

DH and I are both doubles jabbed. He test positive five days after my DC but I’m still negative via pcr and lft šŸŽ‰. Have I managed to dodge it, or is there still time?!

I’d be keen to hear your experiences.

I might add they are both largely fine.

Out of 5 of us here, only me and DS2 have succumbed to it so far!

He had a positive LF last Sunday evening, all the rest of us were negative.
He, DS1 and I went for PCR Monday morning - mine also came back positive.
So since then, DS1, DD and DH have each had PCR plus between 1 and 3 LFs, all still negative. We've been "isolating" as far as our small house allows, such as eating our meals in another room, but I'm still sharing a bed with DH, using the same bathroom etc. I'm amazed none of the others has caught it yet! I am wondering if it's because I had my vaccinations early on (asthmatic) so Feb and May, whereas DH and DD were May/June and Aug/Sep and DS1 had his one dose in August when they started to allow 17 year olds.

Woken up with a cold again, so did an up the nose only lft. Is there a very faint line on this?? DH nearly out of isolation now and DD is out.

Have I really dodged a house full of covid or is there still time??

I can see the shadow you mean. Hard to know, pcr would tell you, if it is a line should be stronger on a lft tomorrow I guess?

Nerdygirl · 04/10/2021 12:33

None of us got it from my daughter and we didn’t isolate her. We would have been an interesting group to see impact as one double vaccinated , one single and one none !

Chosennone · 04/10/2021 12:45

Never caught it off DH. Shared a bed, sat next to him, cuddled him etc. Neither did DC.

Frazzledmummy123 · 04/10/2021 13:08

Do another lft and see what happens, or get a pcr. There is definitely a line there but might be an evaporation line. I'd retest to see what another says.

YourKidsIf · 04/10/2021 14:01

@Gettingonabitnow can I ask why you’re not going for a PCR? Especially now you have lost your taste.

Gettingonabitnow · 04/10/2021 14:03

@YourKidsIf it’s come back now, I’m assuming it was the blocked nose. In all honesty, I’ve been for two which were negative and I’m not sure it’s worth another one (?) with no ā€˜proper’ symptoms and a faint lateral flow.

Two of my teen kids have had it (at different times, months apart) and the rest of the family didn't get it each time šŸ˜…

My daughter is positive- got the result today and her lft looks just like yours - taken same day as the PCR. I would do one if I were you...

I’m not sure I understand what you’re saying. Do you not want a PCR because you know it’ll be positive and you’re going to isolate accordingly?

I personally think that if you feel ill,, live in a house with other people with covid and have a positive lateral flow then you should assume you have covid.

Gettingonabitnow · 04/10/2021 20:07

@YourKidsIf what I meant, was that I’ve felt like this for nearly two weeks now, done daily lateral flows and two pcr tests. The test above with the faintest of lines is unclear as a positive. Isolating doesn’t phase me - but I’m not going to go for another pcr until there is a material change in either how unwell I feel, or, the strength of the line on the lateral flow. Hope that’s a bit clearer.

Hi. I finally caught it! Feel fine though.

Since my reply up thread about only dd and dh catching it, I ended up getting infectedšŸ™ˆ Day 9 of isolating, 1 more day to go!

Randommother · 12/10/2021 16:53

How often should you go for a PCR? My sons LF tests were negative, even with symptoms but he had a positive PCR on Sunday. I had a fever Saturday and negative PCR on Sunday. I’ve felt wiped out since, with sore throat and headache, but my LF test are all negative. I don’t know if I should bother with another PCR, or wait until I either get a positive LF or worse symptoms. To be in the safe side I’m isolating with my son

Gettingonabitnow · 12/10/2021 18:04

@MegaClutterSlut have you been ill with it?

@Randommother tbh my experience of all this is if you’ve got it it will be a blazing positive on a lateral flow, that was the case for all of my family.

@Gettingonabitnow

Hi. I finally caught it! Feel fine though.
What day did you catch it on, from the timeline of your DD and DH getting it?

My DD3 got a positive 14 days ago and then I got one a week after that. Other 2 kids haven't had a positive yet and am hoping they've missed it.

MegaClutterSlut · 12/10/2021 18:16

Yes I was ill with it. The first few days I felt awful, fever, cough, nausea, headache, dizziness, aching all over, fatigued. Around day 4 things started to improve for me. 9 days on I've got no sense of smell which is pissing me off and things taste weird but thats it.

AutumnIsTheBest · 12/10/2021 18:19

I was the only one out of my household of 6 (DH and 4 DC) who didn’t get Covid and that was last November before the vaccine. Still slept with DH as just assumed I’d already got it but had negative PCRs all the way through. Took about a week from first positive test for them all to get it.

That’s what I thought - except my son’s LF tests were all negative!

Bunsnbobbins · 12/10/2021 19:22

On day5 after dc1 caught it dh was positive and dc2 and i negative. Dc2 and I tested positive on day 9 and 10.
