Hi

DH and I are both doubles jabbed. He test positive five days after my DC but I’m still negative via pcr and lft šŸŽ‰. Have I managed to dodge it, or is there still time?!

I’d be keen to hear your experiences.

I might add they are both largely fine.

Yeah I wondered whether feeling crap but testing negative is some kind of immune response.

I’ve just had some more paracetomal. Far from ill ill like I was when I woke up, but don’t feel normal!!!

@Lollipop444

I am now 10 days in from dc first symptoms and still negative.

Does this mean I could still get it, if for example I caught it from him yesterday and then am incubating it for up to ten days or it it more likely to catch it right at the beginning and be incubating it from then?

And then if dh tested positive 3 days ago (presumably from dc) does that mean I could catch it from him if I didn’t catch it from dc? So I need to be careful for 10 days from dh catching it? Or is that not likely?

This is what I want to know. DC tested positive then DH. That was 11 days ago. Rest of family seem fine. DH iso now ended - if we were going to get it would be have it already or can we catch it later in in their iso period? No SD possible. I guess there is no telling. Also - now I have a cold. How can I have fought off Covid but caught a bloody cold?? (Double jabbed, but other DC are not)
Gettingonabitnow · 30/09/2021 07:34

Still heavy cold, still negative, DH still blazing positive!

My lat flow has just come up with a squinter of a positive. Ds1 tested positive fri, ds2 and husband on Saturday. My pcr Saturday was negative so I'll go tonight for another

CandleWick4 · 30/09/2021 15:49

I’m still waiting on our PCR results (me and DD2 did them about 6pm last night, NW if anyone knows what the wait times are like for evening tests??).
My LFTs still negative though. In a way I was just hoping it was positive, I honestly don’t think I’ll cope if I have 3 bouts of isolation one after the other.

I'm in NW too and my DS had a test yesterday at 6:30pm results back this morning around 11am.
SpringRainbow · 30/09/2021 19:10

In your position, especially since you do have some symptoms. I would do another PCR.

Nocutenamesleft · 30/09/2021 19:14

I spent 4 days solid with my best mate. She got covid. Spent 3 hrs with me and some other people. They all got it. I didn’t. Never understood it. Except I was double vaccinated

I spent some 95 odd hours with her. She spoke to me nearly the whole time

She’s sort of in a room with three others for 60 mins. They all got sick. I didn’t. So can happen.

MindatWork · 30/09/2021 19:18

One if my colleagues 6 year old tested positive around 10 days ago. His wife and son tested positive on Saturday and he tested positive today Sad.

I was in the office with him yesterday so hoping my double jab holds up!

Lushmetender · 01/10/2021 17:47

Our 3 children came out of isolation last Saturday- still no positive for DH and I. I worry ill catch it from a different source as seems rife round here. All DC have been pinged by test and trace saying they’ve been in contact with someone with Covid ! One was at a scout camp where someone tested positive. My dd teacher has it. Not sure where the 3 rd source is from. Probably gymnastics! I continue to have negative LFT but feeling a bit crap tonight with a headache!

Gettingonabitnow · 02/10/2021 09:39

Has anyone tested positive?

I have lost my sense of taste overnight but still negative on lateral flow so not sure if it is just from the head cold that has been running for a week or so.

OP posts:
tigerbear · 02/10/2021 17:41

@Gettingonabitnow my DD had a lateral flow test in the morning which was negative, but then had a PCR several hours later, which was positive.

I had a neg lateral flow and neg PCR the day after her positive, but 10 days later both DH and I tested positive on LFT and PCR.
My symptoms are very much of a head cold (and had what I thought was conjunctivitis last week, but now think it’s a Covid symptom, as the T&T callers asked if any eye problems).

CurlyhairedAssassin · 02/10/2021 18:33

How come you tested 10 days later, @tigerbear? I'm worried I've tested DS2 too soon. DH and I both tested positive on Tuesday. Kids were negative. I tested DS2 again on THursday as he'd had symptoms since Tues night. He's come out negative again. Wondering if I tested him too early. I thought that if you have COVID then as soon as your symptoms show your PCR should be positive, but maybe I'm wrong?

Don't know what's going on in our house as I had symptoms last week but negative PCR then 5 days later tested positive (only got another PCR as DH was positive on a lateral flow).

CurlyhairedAssassin · 02/10/2021 18:35

This why it was a bad idea to get rid of the isolation in my view - the long gap between family members getting positives. They advise contacts to get PCRs but they don't advise WHEN to time it, so everyone I know is testing as soon as their family member gets a positive lateral flow or PCR. Maybe they should be waiting a good few days first??

tigerbear · 02/10/2021 20:48

@CurlyhairedAssassin we tested later as after the first PCR’s we did, we didn’t have any symptoms. Well, DH did start having a cold, but he wasn’t even in the same house as DD after she tested positive (long story), he was away from us for 8 days. He started feeling really rough only then, and I had same symptoms as him, so that’s when we did the LFT and got another PCR.

Peppermintlover · 02/10/2021 21:37

So we are family of 4. 2 DC, my DH and I.

Eldest DC tested positive. 2 days later I did and so did youngest DC. My DH stayed negative the entire time. Zero symptoms and daily negative Lateral flows and 2 negative PCRs. We are now 19 days since first DC tested positive.

On another note. I had a negative lateral flow the evening before i took my PCR which came back positive.

I still cannot believe my DH didn't catch it! Small 3 bed semi, only one bathroom/toilet!!

Chilver · 02/10/2021 21:41

For those who haven't got it despite it being the house, are you isolating in the house from the positive person?

Heartofglass12345 · 02/10/2021 23:08

If you have symptoms why aren't you doing a PCR test?

Heartofglass12345 · 02/10/2021 23:10

I spoke to a family of 10 the other day (parents and 8 kids) one parent and 6 of the kids were positive, other parent and 2 kids negative. They had all gradually tested positive from the 2nd week of September to the last week of September and somehow the others didn't catch it! It's a conundrum!

Bunsnbobbins · 02/10/2021 23:23

I hope you have but it’s too soon to know. Here’s how it went with testing positive in our house
Day 1 - child 1
Day 4 - dad
Day 7 - child 2
Day 10 me. After thinking I’d dodged it

Bunsnbobbins · 02/10/2021 23:24

I hope you have dodged it I mean of course! To be clear

adagio · 03/10/2021 08:21

*@Chilver

For those who haven't got it despite it being the house, are you isolating in the house from the positive person? *

Nope, not even slightly - I shared a bed with the youngest when she got it, and yet DH who was blissfully sleeping alone then got it. Bathrooms etc shared (and probably towels too knowing the kids). I still haven’t got it (another neg PCR confirmed yesterday and first child got sick 16/9, next one 19/9, DH 21 or 22/9 - so i would have got it by now).

MegaClutterSlut · 03/10/2021 08:41

Dd tested positive last Sunday, dh on Wednesday. So far me and ds are negative. We have not been isolating away from each other but I do try and keep my distance when sitting in the same room

Frazzled2207 · 03/10/2021 08:43

3 yo niece got it.
Her dad (bil) got it but not until about 9 days later.

However her (vaccinated) mum and brother avoided. And she’s very clingy to her mum.

MegaClutterSlut · 03/10/2021 11:05

In my house, the only person dd has managed to pass it onto so far (dh) is fully vaccinated and she spends most of her time with me
