I think this test is positive, am I seeing things?

DH's test. He says it's negative but I'm certain I can see a very feint line. He's not against getting a PCR at all, he's had one before so he doesn't appear to be being a dick about it, he just can't seem to see a line!

I said I would report back. His PCR was positive.

Ah bummer. At least he knows now though. How's he feeling?

SwedishEdith · 25/09/2021 12:37

God, there's no way I'd have seen a line on that (unless more obvious in real life). So, yes, loads of people must be assuming they're negative.

LordOfTheThings · 25/09/2021 12:51

He's ok. Bit of a headache but apart from that he's fine!

Glad he's doing ok.

Wow, I really saw that as a negative after our tests.

Agree with others that there must be lots of tests misread as a result.

liveforsummer · 25/09/2021 13:52

From seeing tests of those who have already tested positive on PCR's the ltf positive test lines are frequently extremely faint and lacking in colour. I'd say it's positive.

@FWBNC
No I don’t mean scan the test code. There is a bit after that that takes an actual photo of your developed test, it reads it and tells you if it’s positive or negative. You don’t have to tell it (although I do have the option to do that if I choose to skip the taking the photo of the developed test bit). It picks up the faintest line.

Whentheydontmeanwhattheysay · 25/09/2021 14:26

Oh blimey OP, just seen you have had the PCR results. Hope you all stay well.

Oh, wasn’t expecting that! Will have to start scrutinising results in future.
9nine · 25/09/2021 15:54

Was going to say that’s a positive. My DS had COVID last week (detected on LF and then confirmed with pcr) and he wanted to test again on LF this week to see what they showed, so he did the nose and throat one which showed a distinct line, then did the nose only one and it was a very faint line same as this. I don’t think the nose ones are anywhere near as good at showing up a line.

Draggondragon · 25/09/2021 15:55

The thing is, they are so unreliable anyway, you should ask for a PCR

Draggondragon · 25/09/2021 15:56

We only use them here for EMS response like car accidents with a critical patient. Never trust them but as a first control its better than nothing when lifesaving in field

Sorry to hear it's positive. Wishing him a speedy recovery. Really does make you wonder how many people are missing positives and not getting a follow up PCR when they should.

Oh, I'll have another look when I do it in the morning!!

Did you know you can change your setting to highlight the OP's posts? And you can just tap on 'next' to go through OP's posts or 'see all'

Several ways to read OP updates.

It would be interesting to see the result from a 'kit' designed for nose & throat, but only done on the nose.

I can only do nose & have to hope for the best using the N&T kit, I thought the nose only on would be better, but a bit worrying if not very clear T line. I wish there was a finger prick test instead.

@fwbnc yay thank you for the lesson Biscuit

Well if you know how to do it, why don't you do it, instead of telling the OP to do something she's already done AND posted the results of??

No need to be a PA witch anyway, not everyone does know how to do it!

Whentheydontmeanwhattheysay · 27/09/2021 20:18

@FWBNC
I did mine this morning & took a screen shot of what I get. Once I’ve scanned the code in it takes me to these pages, but only after I’d updated my app.

@Whentheydontmeanwhattheysay

I tried when I did mine yesterday, but nothing!

However, I think the issue is I report via the Govt Website, not an App.

Which App do you use?

Whentheydontmeanwhattheysay · 28/09/2021 14:50

Actually @FWBNC l don’t know what I was mixing up there, it is via the Gov.website. I do have it saved so I just click on it, & my account details are saved, I don’t know why it would be different for you. Do you have an account or choose the ‘continue without an account’?

@Whentheydontmeanwhattheysay

Weirder & weirder!!

I have it saved as a link too and I have an account!

I've had to do quite a few lately and each time I've looked but no options I can see! Could you look carefully next time & tell me at which point it appears & where?! A screen shot would be fabulous if you can make it anonymous!?

I'm so intrigued!!

Iggly · 26/10/2021 11:40

I could see a line in the OP!
