I think this test is positive, am I seeing things?

DH's test. He says it's negative but I'm certain I can see a very feint line. He's not against getting a PCR at all, he's had one before so he doesn't appear to be being a dick about it, he just can't seem to see a line!

Yep that looks positive. Both DS and I started with very faint positives that were followed with very definite positives over the following couple of days. Been doing the for nearly twelve months and never seen so much as a shadow until the positive Covid ones confirmed with PCR.

Lougle · 24/09/2021 20:20

I can see the line.

Cuck00soup · 24/09/2021 20:20

I really can’t see a line either.

Mothersruin123 · 24/09/2021 20:36

If in doubt then PCR. DD did a PCR on Tuesday evening due to a number of cases in her class. Wednesday morning LFT looked negative so sent her to school. PCR result came back Wednesday night positive. Did another LFT this morning as was concerned about their accuracy and was a clear positive (same strength as control line). So I guess maybe the LFT's are less sensitive?

IsabellesMissingSock · 24/09/2021 20:44

I can see a very faint line.

Xiaoxiong · 24/09/2021 20:49

I can only see a line when I stare first at the control line. I think it's an after image, like when you look at the sun and then you see a sun image wherever you look!

middleager · 24/09/2021 20:51

It doesn't look positive to me.

Here was my positive test with one of the new tests. It's very clear. It is still this clear 5 days on! (I kept it for some weird reason, because it proved to be correct, maybe)

Oh, and when I tested, it moved to two lines pretty quickly.

Whatdoyawannado · 24/09/2021 21:00

I had one that looked exactly the same this morning so I did two more and they were all negative. Went for a PCR too, will find out by tomorrow. My family think I'm being ridiculous but I always thought a positive is a positive and needs a PCR test.

NoWordForFluffy · 24/09/2021 21:00

People really need to read the instructions before taking a test. The instructions are quite clear that any line = positive.

Oh, and I can see a line (but then I'm one of those who can see VERY faint lines on pregnancy tests too!).

No wonder people are walking round with positives of this is a positive lateral flow 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
I can barely see a line and if that was one I did I would have taken it as a negative and moved on.
I had several faint lines like these that were all confirmed negatives with PCR. Good luck OP make sure you update us x

Yeah, but there’s faint and faint as in almost invisible. It’s possibly the bit that reacts (which is different from the rest of the test thingy) showing up very faintly because it’s different, but not reacted. But we will all find out soon enough if the OP updates us after the PCR result.
SmellyOldOwls · 24/09/2021 22:59

Was wondering the same about my test. There's something there if I squint very hard but I doubt it's anything worth worrying about. I do see something on yours OP but hopefully the PCR comes back negative.

@zaffa

If it's a new one, they often look like that for me (I can see the line) but I'm still negative at PCR. Only with flowflex ones though.

Someone up thread said that you have to read the new ones in fifteen mins - is that all the new ones?

No, you need to look at the instructions with each new box you get
FWBNC · 25/09/2021 07:05

@Whentheydontmeanwhattheysay

Do you input your results on the gov.com website? If so, there is an option to take a photo and it reads your results for you. It can see the faintest line that you maybe can’t. *@Monkeymilkshake* *@FWBNC*

I can see the line in op’s photo though.

Yes I do, I scan it in each time, but you still have to tell it whether you're positive or negative, so it can send you a message to tell you that you probably do/don't have it 🙄. That annoys the hell out of me!! I've just told you that!!! 🤬

Where's the bit where it reads your test & knows what your result is by itself?

My son's looked like that on the new tests. Repeated it using an older version (out of interest) and it was much, much fainter.

I had one even fainter than the op's - positive on pcr.

Starlightstarbright1 · 25/09/2021 07:15

I can see the faintest line. Fingers crossed pcr is negative

MrsTesfaye · 25/09/2021 07:20

I can't see the second line

Joystir59 · 25/09/2021 07:22

I cannot see a line

WanderingTrolley1 · 25/09/2021 07:25

It’s negative.

Notonthestairs · 25/09/2021 07:28

I can't see a line - I'm now panicking I'm reading my kids tests wrong!

Malteser71 · 25/09/2021 07:36

My reading of that text would depend on his symptoms.

If it’s a routine LFT required for work, and he’s asymptomatic, I’d r

Malteser71 · 25/09/2021 07:36

Read that as a negative. If he’s sick, I’d do another.

rainbowstardrops · 25/09/2021 08:20

I can kind of see a very feint line. Does he have symptoms or did he take it for work or leisure reasons? Hope his PCR comes back negative though!

Springhere · 25/09/2021 08:43

I can't see anything! I hope the pcr comes back negative.
