I think this test is positive, am I seeing things?

DH's test. He says it's negative but I'm certain I can see a very feint line. He's not against getting a PCR at all, he's had one before so he doesn't appear to be being a dick about it, he just can't seem to see a line!

I can see a faint line. Isolate today and book a pcr.

@LividLaVidaLoca

If you’ve only ever preg tested after a missed period with a clear blue digital, it’s a different world and a whole other skill to peering at a 9dpo Internet cheapie.

Never yet had a positive lateral flow but I think many will be missed by people expecting the line to resemble the control, which it well might but certainly doesn’t have to.

No digital tests about when I was pregnant. We had to peer at lines too.Sad
BrilloPaddy · 24/09/2021 10:28

That's a negative.

LordOfTheThings · 24/09/2021 10:30

@BrilloPaddy

That's a negative.
Well I'll let you know - I hope you're right!

My was like that. 2 days later is was a blaring positive with a positive PCR to match

disneydreaming · 24/09/2021 10:33

My daughters Lat flow test was similar and she had a positive PCR.
I would say that was positive and suggest booking a PCR to confirm.

bigknickersbigknockers · 24/09/2021 10:35

I see a negative test

MrsMariaReynolds · 24/09/2021 10:37

I honestly cannot see a line either.

SudokuWillNotSaveYou · 24/09/2021 10:38

@Crunchymum @Sparklingbrook
Talk about “a sign of the times.” This thread is only three threads away FROM one of those pregnancy line threads on active. In a different pandemic world, maybe have heart, because it’s also just the same. (I only crossed out the threads between so it was easier to see the two threads).

Mykittensaremyfriends · 24/09/2021 10:42

Friend had this. Other family members were positive (one with symptoms another without) and hers was a very faint line which she said could easily have been missed but PCR test came back positive and then started with symptoms. Get a PCR to confirm.

I posted this on another thread recently and the PCR came back positive for them too.

Staffy1 · 24/09/2021 11:07

Hmmm…that line is barely there. I don’t think that’s a positive, just the reactive strip slightly showing up even though it hasn’t reacted.

WhiskeyNeverStartsToTasteNice · 24/09/2021 11:16

I've had an extremely faint line like that before. Second lateral flow had no line and PCR was negative, so it may not be a positive. But I'd definitely get a PCR to check.

kimlo · 24/09/2021 15:09

I can see one. If he goes for a pcr he should have the results tomorrow and then he'll know either way.

Bobholll · 24/09/2021 18:28

I honestly would be walking round thinking it was negative. I’d assume it should be fairly pink and obvious .. I used regular pink line pregnancy tests with both my girls. When my period was late, I tested & bright pink line? Isn’t that how they are supposed to look??

Monkeymilkshake · 24/09/2021 19:01

I also cannot see a line. At all. Now i’m wondering about all the tests i’ve done!
Scary

I was properly worried after another thread like this a while ago. I too assumed you'd an actual line, not one half the population can't see!! I can't see anything on the test above, nothing, nada, nowt , zero, it leaves me wondering if it's my eyes or my screen? I hope I'd see it 'in real life' otherwise it's no wonder there's such a high rate if 'false negatives' with LFT.

It would be good if the report apt could actually read the test!!

@LordOfTheThings. I hope DH is ok.

Whentheydontmeanwhattheysay · 24/09/2021 19:18

Do you input your results on the gov.com website? If so, there is an option to take a photo and it reads your results for you. It can see the faintest line that you maybe can’t. @Monkeymilkshake @FWBNC

I can see the line in op’s photo though.

FreeBritnee · 24/09/2021 19:21

My child had a couple of those, two negative pcrs later we learned to ignore those ‘shadow lines’.

IdLoveToButCantBeArsed · 24/09/2021 19:25

I see a line, when I had covid my first lateral flow line started that faint (Dd already had a positive PCR at that point, so I was already isolating).
I had no symptoms but did another test the next day which was much darker, I then had a positive PCR (followed by feeling really ill for 2 weeks!).
Hopefully your DH will not develop symptoms even if positive.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 24/09/2021 19:53

No line

Batshittery · 24/09/2021 20:00

Why can't I see a second line? It's negative Grin

Batshittery · 24/09/2021 20:01

Oh. I've looked again and can now see the faintest line in the world Blush

Sparklingbrook · 24/09/2021 20:02

I know! I have looked and looked . 😂
LastStarfighter · 24/09/2021 20:07

I assumed the +ve line would look like the control line Confused

Apparently there was no point to any of the dozens of tests the kids and I have done then, because I have been misreading them.

zaffa · 24/09/2021 20:07

If it's a new one, they often look like that for me (I can see the line) but I'm still negative at PCR. Only with flowflex ones though.

Someone up thread said that you have to read the new ones in fifteen mins - is that all the new ones?
