Booster Shots

Just read of BBC news about the booster shots for all over 50s and CEV rolled out from next week either Pfizer and Moderna being used. DM had AZ vaccines back in March/April. People who had AZ are they having Pfizer/Moderna? I can’t see any mention of AZ boosters. DM had awful reaction to AZ (yellow carded and GP involved) don’t think she’ll want to change to a different type of vaccine. Where can I find information on mixing vaccines for booster shot? And having 3 vaccinations? To me it seems the government are “putting all their eggs in the vaccine basket” when it has been proven you can catch and pass-on even with the vaccine.

To those asking about evidence for third jab for immunosuppressed there is a trial coming out soon OCTAVE DUO, which is testing 3rd jab response in this group. The JCVI went ahead because they felt it was worth doing sooner in the current unmitigated situation. The risk benefits in this group are vastly different to the general population

AZ uses a chimp virus (inactive) to deliver the vaccine where it needs to go in your body.

There is a possibility that with more than two doses you would mount an immune response to the chimp virus before the vaccine had time to do its thing.

I have explained this clumsily but I hope it makes sense.
