You are not alone

For those of us increasingly concerned by government policy and in particular the sidelining of science and the JCVI in relation to the mass vaccination of children, I thought I would put my head above the parapet to say that you are not as alone as the media makes you feel. There are many of us questioning and desperately worried about where this ends. So I thought I would list a few places where I found some solace and confirmation that DH and I were not the only ones feeling the way we did. For the left-leaning, a good, not too depressing place to start is Left Lockdown Sceptics. A totally different take on life outside the middle class bubble of neurosis that is fed to us daily. For the religious (or not) Irreverend is brilliant. Their podcasts are measured, and thoughtful. For the more right wing, The Daily Sceptic allows discussion of all coronavirus issues and has reports from a very measured and sensible doctor. On that note, for NHS - lovers, look up the Nurse who asks Questions, or Dr Sam White. For those interested in the law, Law or Fiction is a good place to start. To meet a vast array of very diverse people, try a Stand in the Park - people gathering on green spaces to support each other. Or if you're near a city, find out about protest marches. Media blackouts make them hard to find but hundreds of thousands have marched in London on the last Saturday of the month for ages now. Speaking of protests, the French have got it nailed as ever. From Paris, through Marseille, from Clermont Ferrand to tiny villages where people gather for protest picnics (of course!) These are horrible times and the feeling of isolation has made it very hard to bear, and I hope this helps others who feel alone.

I don't agree with your explanation so I ignored it.

You constantly talk of links, seminars etc. I want to chat with people about it without having to read pages upon pages of stuff I have already read.

Ahah, I get a reply.

You don't think any of those things about Sam White could be considered red flags?

(A reminder: he claims the vaccines are being used to kill people off, he claims no-one under 80 needs to be vaccinated, he repeats Mike Yeadon's misinformation, he is profiting from his misinformation via a holistic medicine company, his medical license was suspended, he posted a gofundme asking for funds and included a sob story about his bank account being hacked)

I have given you multiple informative answers with links on multiple threads @Peteycat.

I repeat posts in my replies to you because you never engage, just continue with the scattergunning of random statements which prevents any kind of discussion.

@Ollyollyoxenfree

Please don't be offended, but I do try to bypass you most of the time because of the above reasons I stated. I'm sure you are a very nice person in rl, but on here you just can't accept that people have had enough and this is becoming endemic, so we have to breathe out and try to find a way of getting on with things.

aka "I want to post as much misinformation as I can without being asked about it and refuse to look at evidence-based articles that give evidence for a different opinion".

I want to chat with people about it without having to read pages upon pages of stuff I have already read.

If you had read or even considered any of the sources people link you to I doubt you'd still be going round in circles.

milkyaqua · 14/09/2021 14:02

Why don't you just "breathe out and get on with things" off the coronavirus board, then?

BlueBlancmange · 14/09/2021 14:14

The Nurse that Asks Questions. Why are you suggesting people turn to her as their source of information? This post is just conspiracy rubbish dressed up to try to look like it isn't.

birkenstuck · 14/09/2021 14:21

Well done and thanks OP Smile

Well, the government have a whole package of measures to enable us precisely to get on with things. There is a press conference this afternoon.

It's very encouraging.

Yep, wrapped up in a 'I care about you, no-one understands you but I do' message. The clue is in the directing of people to the 'information' not just sympathising with their feelings.

And then there'll be the faux outrage of 'how dare MNHQ delete our perfectly reasonable bullshit propaganda alternative facts'.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 14/09/2021 14:33

Here I wish I had your zen-like patience Star.

Variety is the spice of life you know, we are all different, think and act differently. One thing that makes us stand out as a person is realising that. And not judging.

This initially alarmed me, but luckily from what the press are suggesting measures seem to be focused on vaccines, public health advice and other such (ordinary) health interventions, and not restrictions . Keeping my fingers crossed that balance and proportionality will prevail. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Yes! Low level measures that will hopefully keep things at manageable level through winter, thus preventing any further lockdowns or closures (I hope)
herecomesthsun · 14/09/2021 14:55

yes, we need some plan in place for the winter and we really don't want to lock down again

I think that Mr Johnson and his colleagues really have found themselves constrained by circumstances to make a constructive plan.

And, with all their faults, they really are libertarians at heart; they want businesses to have freedom and they want kids in education and they really really don't want another lockdown. And neither does pretty much anyone else.

The general gist of it looks quite sensible even.

Geamhradh · 14/09/2021 14:57

Pleased to see the OP has recovered from feeling so stressed on the Coronavirus topic and is once again posting against vaccines on another thread.

You do realise that was the point of my post - to Ensure the info you’re reading isn’t one-sided!

I repeat posts in my replies to you because you never engage, just continue with the scattergunning of random statements which prevents any kind of discussion.

To anyone with the ability to think critically, reading these discussions it will be obvious who's reasonable and who's the one insulting people with inarticulate nonsense.

The trouble with conspiracy theorists is that no matter how much evidence you present them with, they will never believe it and will instead prefer to believe that the Illuminati is out to kill people with vaccines.

A sizeable minority has been sucked into this narrative because they had too much time on their hands during lockdown.

Anon778833 · 14/09/2021 15:05

Reasonable challenges to the conspiracies that people get sucked into re: Covid.

Peteycat · 14/09/2021 15:12

Of course. People are conspiracy theorists just because they don't agree with you. There there.

Anyway, I think the low level mitigations are only what they call a plan b aren't they? Not being asked to do anything like masks etc.

I think as well, it will come to be realised that buying into conspiracy theories= lack of ability to use the internet critically.

Of course the conspiracy theories look genuine
Of course some are supported by (largely discredited) doctors
Of course statistics are, at best manipulated to serve an agenda and at worst, invented completely.

A Mumsnetter is very well-known for her anti-vaccination stance and for months has continued to post the FACTUALLY CORRECT information that myocarditis is more likely to affect X age group of boys after the vaccine.

What she NEVER says is the rest of it- that the UNVACCINATED but COVID+ive boy in the same age group is much more likely to suddenly develop myocarditis. Or that this is the age group in which, Covid /Vaccines aside, myocarditis is more likely to present anyway.

But the less critical just leap on it as we've seen. Myocarditis becomes the next big buzz word now we're (surprise!) not all dead from blood clots.

Remember that teenage girl in Italy? Loads of posts on here about her. Blood clot and death after vaccine. Nobody bothered going to read the subsequent articles after the PM which showed she had a rare genetic blood disorder and was taking medicines and had the vax centre known, she would never have been given the vaccine she received.

People also need to remember that MN and other SM outlets are full of astroturfers. Twas ever thus.

Bizawit · 14/09/2021 15:20

they really are libertarians at heart

I used to believe this, but the last 18 months have revealed that they are much better described as populists than liberals. I don’t trust them at all.
