Covid positive family next door accidentally threw ball into my tiny garden

It bounced and rolled.I'm CEV.

Do I:

  1. Chuck it back and ask then not to kick the ball against my fence but on the other side to the non-CEV neighbours!
  2. Say nothing, but wear gloves and then wash my hands thoroughly and spray the grass with dettol kitchen spray
  3. Put a knife in it, and bin it, like DH suggests
  4. Stroll out there and simply chuck it back and don't worry, it's outdoors, just wash my hands with soap and that's it.

PS, I wouldn't really take option 3, it must be hard for them being cooped up for 10 days over the summer holiday.

You could fashion a sort of 10-12ft fishing net out of two broom handles, duct tape and a bag. Use it to carefully scoop.up the ball and lob it at their open windows. Then burn the bag in an open fire outside, dunking the remaining broom handles in a bucket of bleach water at the end.

To get rid of the grass, maybe borrow a hardy goat to eat it up, just have the goat collected within 2 days before it gets infectious.

@Pinkflipflop85

Number 3 is absolute dickhead behaviour.
This.
Sparklingbrook · 03/08/2021 12:24

@SmidgenofaPigeon

Blimey. Had no idea people still needed to ask about stuff like that.
I think if you are CEV or live with others that are it’s still very much a worry?
ChaToilLeam · 03/08/2021 12:26

Throw it back, then wash your hands thoroughly. I understand your need to be cautious but unless you are going to lick the ball, I think you will be okay.

HelgaDownUnder · 03/08/2021 12:27

@OliveTree75

I suggest you set fire to the ball. You can't be too careful.
Just don't change your mind and take number 4 after you light it....
gogohm · 03/08/2021 12:28
  1. Washing hands is all you need to do
Ceebs85 · 03/08/2021 12:31

Throw it back, wash your hands and take a lorazepam

onebeauplace · 03/08/2021 12:35

It wouldn't be if people had bothered to read up about the actual risk of surface transmission, which is basically non existent.

Mickarooni · 03/08/2021 12:37

Number 4. Just wash your hands as you normally would after being outside.

MichelleScarn · 03/08/2021 12:40

Watch Monsters Inc and follow what they do when a sock comes through the scare door.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 03/08/2021 12:41

Surely you're joking about putting detoll on the grass Shock

ThePoint678 · 03/08/2021 12:42

Throw it back before they come knocking on your door for it! Then wash your hands and think no more of it.

onebeauplace · 03/08/2021 12:44

This is reminiscent of the time that OP posted a thread worrying if it was OK for her to have her windows open in case covid floated through from the street.

MrsR87 · 03/08/2021 12:45

Personally, I would do number 4, I’d still wash my hands even before COVID.

In your shoes if you wanted to be careful I’d go for number 2, although I don’t think there’s any need to dettol the grass.

I think the risk is so teeny that you really don’t need to give it a second though once you’ve washed your hands! 😃

Oh I don't know. If you are trying to protect yourself or loved ones who are CEV I think everything runs through your mind no matter how mad it sounds maybe?
onebeauplace · 03/08/2021 12:51

Well I am CEV and so is my mum whom I care for and I can safely say I no longer worry about surface transmission because it has been clearly proven on several occasions that the risk is basically nil.

So no.

Hopefully the above puts your mind at ease. Just do number 4.

So no for you. But not for the OP, clearly.
brittleheadgirl · 03/08/2021 12:52

No 3 is just plain mean.

Why the hysteria?
Dh is cev and is now back at work and enjoying venturing back to the pub etc

Presumably you're double vaccinated, if so why are you so irrationally paranoid?

Feelingoktoday · 03/08/2021 12:53

@Sparklingbrook

Have any studies been done of 'ball transmission' though?
Would be an intimate study 😂😂
RightYesButNo · 03/08/2021 12:54

I believe one is being published soon by Dr. C. Politan and Dr. P. Hub, currently submitted for comment to the International Journal of Very Sexy COVID Studies.
AbsolutelyPatsy · 03/08/2021 12:54

ask for a game of fence volley ball?

wonderstuff123 · 03/08/2021 12:55

Option 5: Throw it back,chill out and divorce dickhead husband

Doublestar · 03/08/2021 12:56

3. Put a knife in it, and bin it, like DH suggests

Your DH is a really nasty specimen isn't he? Who even thinks like this?

Is this even real?

AbsolutelyPatsy · 03/08/2021 12:57
