Restriction wise. I'm feeling very gloomy / anxious about it! My sister is getting married and I desperately hope it can go ahead.

Hell will freeze over before Rishi opens his purse strings again for furlough

Masks might be back but I don't see it going further than that

brideyb · 29/07/2021 20:01

Testing and more Testing will be the way to go. Not sure there’ll be the restrictions but my Testing contract has been extended from the end of August to the end of March.

brideyb · 29/07/2021 20:22

@Finfintytint I think testing to go to things is a reasonable price for freedom!

Itll be cold, grey and miserable

Kate3150 · 29/07/2021 20:39

I feel anxious about Winter but wouldn’t like to guess what if any restrictions there might be. I’ve been tempted to book tickets for things for December but have held back which I know is silly but just that niggly voice holding me back.

Wellbythebloodyhell · 29/07/2021 20:47

I very much doubt there will be closures of things for reasons stated above re furlough. I think it will be more encouragement and guidance not to mix in large numbers and avoid indoor mixing where possible rather than making it legal requirements

Starfleck · 29/07/2021 20:50

I think testing will be the main thing over restrictions/isolation/closures. I do think many people will still be working from home though, and there might be some guidance on flu as well as covid because I think with the low levels of flu last year that'll be the worry this winter.

breadwidow · 29/07/2021 20:51

Just read an article in the guardian with the most depressing quote ever from a professor of intensive care medicine

Montgomery, 58, said he did not believe life would return to normal in his lifetime and that people would remain cautious, adding that mask wearing should continue while hopefully people will try to live more of their lives outside.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/jul/29/uk-covid-cases-rise-second-day-running-amid-drop-testing?CMP=ShareiOSAppp_Other

So now I'm feeling more depressed re winter than I was

SonnetForSpring · 29/07/2021 21:04

Masks and testing will remain. I can live with that. I just hope schools stay open.

This, plus if/when cases/hospitalisations go up people are likely to be more cautious about mixing anyway e.g. more working from home.
HarryLimeFoxtrot · 29/07/2021 21:19

If schools close again then I might actually have a breakdown. I cannot deal with homeschool and work again. I just can’t.

I’m seeing my family at Christmas irrespective of what restrictions are in place though. I’m beyond caring whether or not it is legal.

Seconded.

megletthesecond · 29/07/2021 21:23

Hopefully masks and testing to keep schools open. Maybe vaccinations for under 18's who want them.
I'll be avoiding indoors as much as possible.

Hopefully he’ll say no and stop more closures.

Maybe just masks and miserable headlines.

User56439876 · 29/07/2021 21:36

Masks, much testing and vaccine passports.

Elwynne · 29/07/2021 21:45

Depressingly, I think that there will probably be a varient that isn't stopped by the vaccines. I agree with previous posters that another longterm furlough is very unlikely, so the people most likely to get hit will be those that have to work on site rather than remotely.

Possibly more worryingly and I might be completely wrong... I think food prices are going to go up a lot because the weather has been pretty crap across many places we rely on to source food from.

Anyway I'm going to feed myself lots of these now BiscuitBiscuitBiscuit

I’m afraid I agree. I can’t foresee a time when I’ll feel safe in a pub or busy place. Maybe in 20 years time.

In winter I think masks and distancing will return. Nightclubs may close. There won’t be any more furlough so other places will have to remain open. Schools will remain open too.

PigeonPink · 29/07/2021 21:49

I’m praying for restrictions to let me enjoy a second Christmas away from MIL!

N0rthern · 29/07/2021 21:52

I just read that Guardian quote too ☹️

Bigdisappointment · 29/07/2021 21:52

@PigeonPink 20 years time?!

MarshaBradyo · 29/07/2021 21:53

The Guardian is always on the more depressing side isn’t it

I’m not going there yet

CakeandGo · 29/07/2021 21:55

@PigeonPink same boat here!

LizzieSiddal · 29/07/2021 21:56

I think they’ll bring in Vaccine passports so theatres, Gigs, nightclubs etc can stay open.

I also think masks will come back in for autumn/winter, which won’t bother me at all.
