I don’t think this will end well for me. I just need a place to scream which I can’t do at home..

HereIfYouNeedMe · 23/07/2021 11:18

What's happening today?

VaccineAnxiety · 23/07/2021 11:26

Getting the vaccine…sorry in my anxious state forgot to include the main point

OP posts:
beguilingeyes · 23/07/2021 11:30

Everyone at the vaccine centre will be very kind and patient. You'll be in good hands. At my one there are half a dozen nurses and two or three doctors on hand and a place where you can lie down to have the jab if you want to.

BillyShears · 23/07/2021 11:32

You’ll be fine! Why wouldn’t you be?

VaccineAnxiety · 23/07/2021 11:33

@beguilingeyes thank you - good to know

OP posts:
VaccineAnxiety · 23/07/2021 11:34

@BillyShears I’m having AZ convinced I will have a clot or some other immediate adverse effect

No amount of looking at data has helped

I’m having AZ as not comfortable with the brand new ones

That us not to say I’m happy to have AZ either but I’ve run out of excuses and husband insisting we go today

Reallybadidea · 23/07/2021 11:36

You're doing the right thing. It will be OK. Have you planned something nice for tonight? A takeaway? Nice bottle of wine?

30degreesandmeltinghere · 23/07/2021 11:38

I am not too fond of needles and have to say both jabs were absolutely fine!
Had AZ at 49...

PurpleDaisies · 23/07/2021 11:38

You’ll be so relieved when it’s over. Is it your first dose?

Skybluepinkgiraffe · 23/07/2021 11:39

Go you, @VaccineAnxiety. Agree with beguiling, they are so lovely.
It's hard with anxiety but you're doing the right thing Flowers

WorldsBestBoss · 23/07/2021 11:42

I read a book once on health anxiety.
It basically said that if you have health anxiety you will almost never get to the point where you are in an emergency/untreatable situation because you will always be hyper alert to any symptoms. So you will always get medical help ASAP - therefore better outcome.
So even if you were in the tiny minority of people who might develop a clot, I'm sure you would notice immediately and then be given treatment.
Virtual hand hold xx

VaccineAnxiety · 23/07/2021 11:42

@Reallybadidea thank you - I respect your view but I honestly don’t think I will be ok- in fact I don’t think I will wake up tomorrow morning

Even if I do it will not end well

I don’t drink and don’t eat takeaways

Not planed anything except I’ve cleaned my cupboard so it’s easy for who ever to get rid of my stuff

I’m spending time with my daughter

Downloaded pics of my family as haven’t seen them due to travel restrictions as want that to be the lat image I see before I sleep -

I’ll speak to my mom, dad and sis before I go to get this thing done

I feel pretty detached from everything today

OP posts:
VaccineAnxiety · 23/07/2021 11:44

@PurpleDaisies yes first dose- I’m 40 and have been putting this off for this long but as I said running out of excuses to convince the people around me

OP posts:
DramaAlpaca · 23/07/2021 11:44

Another hand hold here.

You're doing the right thing and go you for being brave and getting it done despite your anxiety.

You will be absolutely fine and you'll feel so relieved when you're done Flowers

VaccineAnxiety · 23/07/2021 11:45

I don’t think I’ll be ok when it’s done tbh- I cannot take it out if my body- like throwing up etc.

OP posts:
PurpleDaisies · 23/07/2021 11:47

I said running out of excuses to convince the people around me.

You are in control though. It’s your decision. Be really positive that you are the one making this choice and it’s a really good one to protect yourself and those around you.

Skybluepinkgiraffe · 23/07/2021 11:48

I've done that thing before about getting things in order before doing something that feels terrifying.
Can't offer anything but a hand hold Flowers

VaccineAnxiety · 23/07/2021 11:50

@PurpleDaisies I’m not in control of this decision-

My husband wants it done so we can travel back home
The coercion from the government and society in general

Those are in control not me

But I’m well aware if I have a vaccine injury or wind up dead I’ll just be another data point and no one cares…

OP posts:
WeAreTheHeroes · 23/07/2021 11:51

Not sure it's any use to you, but I've had both AZ doses and had no side effects whatsoever. Not even a sniff of a flu like symptom. Lots of people I know felt off colour or a unwell for a couple of days.

I think it's no coincidence that the not for profit vaccine is the one there are so many scare stories about, but perhaps I'm just cynical.

JorisBonson · 23/07/2021 11:51

I'm 36 and both were AZ. DH the same and also under 40. Absolutely no adverse effects. You'll be fine x

VaccineAnxiety · 23/07/2021 11:51

@Skybluepinkgiraffe yes atleast it felt like I’ve sorted as much as I can- written a will last week , ordered all school staff for my daughter - I’m trying now to distance myself from her so that I don’t feel too sad about leaving her.

OP posts:
Barton10 · 23/07/2021 11:52

I have had both my AZ Vaccines with no side effects and I am 46 you will be fine.

PurpleDaisies · 23/07/2021 11:53

In the light of this, I wonder if you’re better putting this off until you can say you are choosing to have the vaccine of your own free will.

Xuli · 23/07/2021 11:54

OP, please tell us you’ve also spoken to a medical professional about your level of anxiety?

VaccineAnxiety · 23/07/2021 11:55

@WeAreTheHeroes I understand the political dirty tricks being played- but at the same time I also believe there is a lot in these vaccines which even the experts don’t know about

India had masses of cases it’s going down rapidly now- social distancing and other Covid measure have not always been strictly followed by the public- this time around even the lockdown was so loose it didn’t really help

The vaccination program is so behind any country like UK- so how is it happening? How can the experts say the change is due to vaccine success so quickly?
