Dom claims Boris said Telegraph his boss?

3asAbird · 19/07/2021 22:30

Many claims in latest interview

www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-57854811

How Boris dident think anyone under 80 would be hospitalised or die.
He regrets lockdowns
Ignored his scientists
Wanted to keep up meetings with the Queen as he dident consider the risks.

That the right wing press mainly the telegraph is his boss.
Did any of the refurbishment donation or free trips come from certain media?

Given the fact Boris was hospitalised and nearly died I find his attitude locking down too late 2nd and 3rd time and opening up now really odd.

Don't know if doms out for revenge
What he said doesn't really seem that inplausible.

So many new changes always leaked in the telegraph.

Can you imagine what the press would have said had a Labour chancellor behaved like Sunak?

This is a good point

peridito · 20/07/2021 20:58

What would they have said ?

museumsandgalleries666 · 20/07/2021 21:05

@Worldgonecrazy

The question is, what could there possibly be on Johnson that would affect his political standing? Fucked a pigs head? Several bastard children? Shagged another woman whilst his wife was having treatment for cancer? An ex mistress who was an‘ex model’ (which is tabloid speak for ‘prostitute but can’t prove it’)?

If a story broke that Johnson cavorted naked in jam whilst sodomising a baby donkey and drinking the blood of babies, people would still vote for him and he would still be prime minister.

That’s how broken our system is.

That's how stupid British voters are.

Totally agree , by his own admission he has no morals , he will do whatever he has to to get his own way ( DC)

And to be honest the comments attributed to Boris whilst in the middle of a pandemic were the same sort of comments that appeared on mumsnet hundreds of times . Especially about locking down to protect the elderly . There were many many comments about that .

Every decision that has been made has been split 50 50 with support or loathing .

That’s life .[/quote]
50/50 on social media perhaps. But representative opinion polls have consistently shown strong majority support for all lockdown measures.

MarshaBradyo · 20/07/2021 21:55

But representative opinion polls have consistently shown strong majority support for all lockdown measures.

You’d have to look at who is selected for polls or if they are self selecting.

As restrictions lift other polls - such as support for Cons away from opposition seems to rise.

lannistunut · 20/07/2021 22:14

Polling looks to be still fairly stable on covid - nearly twice as many in favour of keeping restrictions as want 'freedom day', and the general polling will maybe start reflecting that too? twitter.com/Survation/status/1417559489700630541

frumpety · 20/07/2021 22:18

I am not certain Mr Cummings is out for revenge, the key message in the interview was a very clever one, if you are looking at the political long game.

justasking111 · 20/07/2021 22:23

Gove too slimy, Hunt too arrogant. Rishi appears squeaky clean so far.

But why do we see lift in Cons support as restrictions lift?

I think it’s quite mixed. Most seem to be wearing masks around here but that’s a long way from other restrictions.

Classic Dom.

@3asAbird
Just watched the Kuenssberg interview of Cummings, very poorly done. LK is certainly capable of doing better, but didn't. She failed to ask the obvious follow up questions at various points. She demonstrated a naivety about how politics works, or - as she is BBC's Political Editor - perhaps she chose to use that approach deliberately. Many of her questions were statements and not questions. Finally, she expressed more moral outrage at the Barnard Castle episode, but failed to react to far more momentous revelations, and just skipped over them.

In my judgement, LK's objective wasn't to winkle out information from Dominic Cummings, but the opposite: to stop Cummings' statements coming out clearly, and to present as disparaging view of him as possible.

It's also clear that the interview was heavily edited, the interview jumped about from topic to topic too much.

Was Cummings telling the truth? Yes, I believe so.
Was he telling the whole truth? I doubt it.
Did Laura Kuenssberg / BBC try to do an honest, impartial, independent interview? Absolutely not.

What is obvious is that we have a PM who is a very charming adventurer, spontaneous and funny, but is not a leader, a planner or an implementor. Heck, he's not even honest - has a history of being caught lying, fabricating untrue stories, willing to use violence, and being sacked from previous jobs. Clearly not Prime Minister material.

What I wanted to hear from this interview is what Cummings stands for, what he would have done. Yes, I agree with him, the system is totally flawed, throws up the least suitable candidates to run the country on our behalf. Cummings wants to change the system so that competent people can run the country and formulate plans, but other than one short phrase listing a couple of options, Cummings doesn't say what he would do (his mention of "disruptors" isn't enough to go on) and LK just skipped over it like an immature three year old.

Until we know what Cummings is proposing, it's difficult to have a sensible discussion about it.

As for Laura Kuenssburg, she really aught to watch the session of the Select Committee and their interview of Cummings. That's how it's done, Laura!

HmmmmmmInteresting · 21/07/2021 02:09

Yep. I don't think she's dumb, because she earns £260k a year and is so extremely 'crap' at her job. Seems very clever to me. She knows which way her bread is buttered.

Dom asked 'what is your question?' when she made one such statement. These were deliberate statements rather than questions to get BJ's pov in.

mrshoho · 21/07/2021 05:41

Public inquiry looks set to be enlightening. My opinion on DC is that he's playing the establishment at their own game and getting his side of it out in the public domain. No doubt his priority is self preservation. Stranger things have happened, David Kelly tragedy anyone remember? I'd say he's being truthful but with a lot more still unsaid.

There are some posters on MN who have continued to parrot almost word for word the same opinion as he claims Johnson to have said re lockdown, wrecked economy, only killing elderly. That Telegraph influence yet again.

Rosehip10 · 21/07/2021 05:49

Carrie is an airhead.

longwayoff · 21/07/2021 06:49

So is Bozo. What a delightful and reassuring pair to have in charge of our futures. This country is definitely up that place where you need a paddle. None in sight.

frozendaisy · 21/07/2021 07:10

Dominic Cummings is way beyond unreliable as a credible witness.

So it doesn't matter what he says.

Maggiesfarm · 21/07/2021 08:11

I agree it doesn't matter what he says in the sense that it will make no difference. However he came over as spontaneous (wish he had controlled his right hand, can't stand it when people talk through fingers). Politics sure is a murky world.

I don't know about Carrie being an airhead exactly but I was unfriended on FB for remarking that she was a silly bitch; I meant for getting involved, and pregnant, with an ageing roué. I couldn't get my head round why a personable, educated young woman would fancy BoJo to such an extent. She obviously has her fans!

DufferMum · 21/07/2021 08:14

My god, if Cummings said the sky was blue, I’d be getting myself checked for colour blindness!

longwayoff · 21/07/2021 08:30

Indeed, Maggiesfarm, what on earth could induce an attractive ambitious young woman to fall for the married, aging, overweight but nevertheless, influential and powerful lothario that is our Prime Minister? It's a mystery.

Maggiesfarm · 21/07/2021 09:28

I'm glad you agree! It's not as if she wouldn't have been able to find someone more suitable and equally as rich, within her own age bracket. However there is no accounting for taste. BoJo must have hidden talents.......
longwayoff · 21/07/2021 10:14

Irresistible. Everyone loves a Labrador.

Do you really have to use such misogynistic language to describe a woman.
Myalternate · 21/07/2021 10:51

....However he came over as spontaneous (wish he had controlled his right hand, can't stand it when people talk through fingers). Politics sure is a murky world.

Speaking from behind a closed fist is when the brain sub-consciously instructs it to try and suppress the deceitful words that are being said.

Maggiesfarm · 21/07/2021 12:51

I stand by it and I am a woman and a feminist. I never knew 'bitch' was misogynistic, I've heard women use it often.

The reason I was unfriended on facebook for saying that was because the person on whose page I posted identified with Carrie in some way.

I do not use the word often but was just gobsmacked by this seemingly good and clever young woman hitching up with BoJo. Call it a gut reaction. However that is in the past.

Watching Dominic Cumming's interview again, I've decided he is fanciable. I like his smile and sparkling eyes. As I said earlier, there is no accounting for taste. Maybe I am becoming senile.

I had a lovely friend who used to talk through her fingers sometimes, I always felt like telling her not to but didn't, she was very nice and who am I to criticise. We all have odd habits.
