Dom claims Boris said Telegraph his boss?

Many claims in latest interview

www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-57854811

How Boris dident think anyone under 80 would be hospitalised or die.
He regrets lockdowns
Ignored his scientists
Wanted to keep up meetings with the Queen as he dident consider the risks.

That the right wing press mainly the telegraph is his boss.
Did any of the refurbishment donation or free trips come from certain media?

Given the fact Boris was hospitalised and nearly died I find his attitude locking down too late 2nd and 3rd time and opening up now really odd.

Don't know if doms out for revenge
What he said doesn't really seem that inplausible.

So many new changes always leaked in the telegraph.

@TotorosCatBus in fairness there’s quite a lot Boris should be worried about…

3asAbird · 20/07/2021 11:32

Feels like usa political series scandal.

Dark forces at work Boris is merely a puppet.
Explains why so many useless inexperienced mps became ministers and in charge of important departments.
Gavin DFE seems to escape any scrutiny.
Rishi I thought was party to the great Barrington declaration doctors visiting downing Street and was against the sept/November circuit break.

Gove is very quiet too quiet.
The way Hancock was eliminated i feel sire that was an inside job.

So many of govement ministers given contracts to freindsa Hancock, Williamson and jenrick.

Always baffled why 1922 hold so much power.

I don't think Boris has ever been well liked generally among the parliamentary party, less so now. He was tolerated as a necessary evil to win back a Tory majority after May lost it, to sort Brexit after the farcical gridlocks and to make sure Corbyn didn't become PM, which was apocalyptic to the Tories.

He was the worst possible leader for a pandemic, but even now he's tolerated because he's such a vote winner. Tories still miles ahead in the polls. That's probably the only thing keeping him in post. The Tories will tolerate anyone who can win them an election because power is ultimately all that matters to them.

There's been some chinks in their armour recently though. The Hancock scandal and resignation which probably cost them a by-election they were heavy favourites to win and they lost another safe Tory seat to the Lib Dems just before that. Now the anger over Boris trying to duck self isolating and now the vaccine passports. The delta variant running riot through the country after he failed to shut the border.

Cornettoninja · 20/07/2021 12:22

@3asAbird I don’t know if I’d brand it as dark forces at work but there’s absolutely political power play going on.

Cameron resigning after the brexit ref threw a massive spanner in the works. He was the one primed and expected to provide long term wins for the tories, taking advantage of Labours leadership chaos. Nobody seriously expected leave to win which is partly why the referendum terms were so badly formulated. Cameron’s departure left a huge hole with no one ready to fill it and we’ve been witnessing the fall out ever since.

We’ve got swarms of bees buzzing around with no queens. It’s not dark forces just chaos.

LazyViper · 20/07/2021 12:39

Keep an eye on Gove. He’s been biding his time for ages now.

TotorosCatBus · 20/07/2021 12:42

@3asAbird

I assume the whats app message has been verified. I can imagine Boris saying things like recalibrate.

Wondet how over 80s tory voters feel this morning.

"The NHS being overwhelmed is a lie " is an argument that anti lockdown people have been saying since the beginning. While I don't think the government had time to go over their arguments, I think that Hancock should have taken charge of dispelling that myth by taking one of the most vocal round an overwhelmed hospital to talk to staff etc It must have been horrifically galling for medical staff to hear that their daily work struggles were fake news. Considering how MPs got laws about protesting and lockdowns through, banning demonstrations near hospitals would have been a no brainer imo. Disgusting that they were allowed to go ahead right outside hospitals- staff needed protecting.

Definitely. It's incredible how the Internet stories of his marriage breakdown reasons haven't hit the mainstream press. Are they waiting until he makes his next move?

Murdoch has suppressed it at least from his own publications because he's his mate, supposedly the Sun had the story.

Gove would be electoral poison for the Tories though. Johnson is a complete idiot but for some reason the public like(d) him. Gove is Johnson without that.

lannistunut · 20/07/2021 13:14

Whatever I think of Cummings (not favourable!), a one-hour BBC special on Johnson's terrible lack of care for British citizens is a big deal.

Opinion polls are still pretty good for Johnson, I just don't know that the 42% (ish) for the Tories is really robust - will that fade away? I read there is real concern about the covid crisis being over because during a crisis people back the government in place, once it is over they look for something new.

justasking111 · 20/07/2021 13:36

Boris is not a well man. Whether it be long covid his hair being a big clue or burnout.

Ooodlesofboodles · 20/07/2021 13:54

The Times has become very Anti Boris in recent weeks. This weekend they released a load of very damning intel from Jeremy Farrar, who interestingly is also pushing for a public inquiry to be held now. Things are aligning for Cummings. He might get rid of Boris and Sajid in one fell swoop. But is he looking put Gove or Hunt up? I think Hunt as PM and Gove as chancellor. I despise them both but that is my guess. Rishi shuffled to Home Sec and in place for PM for next GE.

LazyViper · 20/07/2021 13:58

Cummings and Gove are thick as thieves. Whatever one is plotting, the other has their fingerprints all over it.

I agree right now is very difficult for opposition probably for reason you state plus other reasons.

Although lockdowns bring harm and that WhatsApp message plus whatever else may not even do much to damage anything. If we get through this and keep slightly improving I think polls will reflect that.

aldkj · 20/07/2021 14:02

So the Mail is his line manager and the 1922 committee do his 365 peer review?

longwayoff · 20/07/2021 14:09

Oh dear oodles, that sounds about right unfortunately.

Maybe you are right

Think about how popular as chancellor rishi is the most generous chancellor in history.
If gove is chancellor he will have make cuts and go back on promises.
Its mystery how rishi got to the top so soon so young with little experience.
Hunt seems least worst option as pm.
Javid not sure is suited to health and for the love of God give us a new education secretary.
Hunt possibly might offer may another cabinet post.
I always liked more moderates like damian green.

Another thing that concerns me is how us for them infiltrated the current government.

I think he struggles most at making unpopular decisions. Getting a kicking from right wing commentators - especially now over the vaccine passports - will sting him. He's gone out of his way to opening things up this week so he can be popular again.

As a boss he's like David Brent in caring more about being popular or liked than anything. Getting a kicking off his base must be gutting to him.

Murdoch and Gove's fingerprints are behind this. Gove and Murdoch are as thick as thieves; Hancock has been dumped and now a campaign against Boris.

I'd guess it'll be Sunak PM, Gove Chancellor. Maybe Hunt in as Home Sec in the next reshuffle.

longwayoff · 20/07/2021 17:11

Is Hunt back in favour? I thought the few scruples he owns were too many for this bunch of charlatans masquerading as Grown Ups Doing Important Stuff.

TotorosCatBus · 20/07/2021 17:19

Hunt seems to be in favour but is that because of Hancock being so crap?

I think Rishi is probably the most popular choice for PM with the electorate. He is the opposite of Boris in every way - coherent, seemingly hard working etc Plus he'd make the Tory party look good by being its first non-white PM.

However I think he'll wait before running for leader rather than do a John Major and leapfrog people who have been around longer. Whoever is in power needs the support of the ERG and 1922 Committee and I think Rishi will wait until they give him the thumbs up.

newnortherner111 · 20/07/2021 17:50

Rishi Sunak is the accidental chancellor, because Sajid Javid would not play to Dominic Cummings' tune.

Lampzade · 20/07/2021 17:56

Cummings has obviously got more on Boris Johnson

Yeah, I know Murdoch likes Gove, but I really doubt the parliamentary party are going to want him running in a General Election against Andy Burnham.
longwayoff · 20/07/2021 18:30

Mr Cummings will be burning some boats from 7pm to 8pm on bbc2 tonight, interviewed by Laura. I wonder what can be dragged out of the smouldering embers after that. Not Gove, hopefully. Just seen a brief clip. He doesn't appear to be doing himself any favours, sounds like an aggrieved teen fighting with Carrie over who gets control of the Boris. Somebody rescue us please.David Milliband went to work for International Rescue. Send for himGrin
