I live in France and Macron has just made a speech saying that from the end of July, vaccination or a negative test is going to be compulsory for cultural and entertainment venues. From August, it’ll be compulsory for cafes and restaurants too. This applies to all 12+.

PCR tests will become paid as of September, to encourage vaccination.

I’m already vaccinated, thankfully, and I do think it’s necessary to contain the delta variant. But wowza, I’m waiting to hear the backlash in the morning. Macron is up for reelection next year as well, they must be very desperate to contain this…

@Bordelique

Macron is a globalist who is trying scare tactics to encourage people to be vaccinated. He is threatening compulsory vaccination for all, whereas he know full well this is impossible while the vaccination is still in trial phase (and will be until 2023). Access to healthcare will also be restricted to those with the 'passe sanitaire' and Macron is threatening to widen restrictions in September. I hope there will be a huge backlash to this dictatorship.
Late to the party, but I couldn’t agree more. Not everyone who has doubts (well founded it would seem given the re infection rates and data coming out of Israel) bases their opinion on social media posts and it’s an insult to people’s intelligence to suggest that opinions are formed in such a manner. GOF research at Wuhan is most interesting for example. The future is looking very uncertain for anyone who dares to ask questions, or can’t comply for medical reasons, or those who simply want to wait and observe for a while before rushing to be part of what is, at this early stage, a medical trial.

@Mumtotwofurbabies

I am completely pro vaccine, but I hope in France they have exemptions for people who need to wait to get the vaccine. For example I’m pregnant and need to wait until after December when baby is here to get 2nd AZ jab ( on doctors advice btw) as it hasn’t been tested properly on pregnant women. I wouldn’t be so badly off as could afford the PCR tests I guess
Think of all the pregnant women who arnt so lucky and can’t afford the tests. Completely untested on pregnant women yet many will feel under a lot of pressure. Awful position

@P999

Covid sniffer dogs. I've been banging on about it for over a year, but doesn't seem to be on anyones horizon...
I read about the clever doggies. Apparently highly effective at detecting it.

Although there's the moral issue. Research suggests that humans can pass Covid to animals. Is it fair to expose dogs repeatedly to high viral loads?

notimagain · 14/07/2021 20:24

He is threatening compulsory vaccination for all,

Citation to credible source please.

the vaccination is still in trial phase (and will be until 2023).

Citation to credible source for that “fact” please.

Access to healthcare will also be restricted to those with the 'passe sanitaire'

First I’ve heard of that…so guess what Grin?

Frenchfancy · 14/07/2021 20:25

I'm confident that pregnant women would get a prescription for the tests so wouldn't have to pay.
Pro-vaccine as I am I wouldn't have it if I were pregnant.

Bordelique · 14/07/2021 20:32

Sadly the friends I have here in France who were anti vaccine have all given in. Because they will be sacked from their job, or because they will no longer be able to do their voluntary work with associations. The aren't willing lambs to the slaughter.
The only friends I have who won't vaccinate are ex FN supporters and knee waist deep in rather interesting conspiracy theories. Such as Jerome Salomon (directeur général de santé)being a pedophile and zoophile but as one of the elite all this is hush hush.

XenoBitch · 14/07/2021 20:34

Why the concern for sniffer dogs, when animal testing was used to develop the vaccine?

Deathgrip · 14/07/2021 20:37

Abortion bans incoming I'm sure

Yes, just look at France who banned abortion shortly after making childhood vaccinations mandatory…

Oh wait. They didn’t. Silly me.

HeavyHeidi · 14/07/2021 20:38

No. They really arnt.

Arnt what? Children and teenagers with covid complications? There have been over 4000 children in hospital just in the US with post-covid multisystem inflammation syndrome, which as I'm sure you know, is a very serious life-threatening condition (36 died, many left with long lasting and/or life-changing issues). MSM made it up?

Angelil · 14/07/2021 20:44

@Frenchfancy you are SO wrong about autistic people in France. @SupermanWithTheGreyHair got there before me luckily. Go and watch Sophie Robert’s documentary ‘Le Mur’ and educate yourself.

NotSoLongGoodbye · 14/07/2021 20:45

I think it is wrong to coerce people to be vaccinated. Should be a personal choice. Especially when there is no choice about what vaccine you get.

P999 · 14/07/2021 20:46

Why do we all buy into this idea that the one and only solution is vaccination? Dont get me wrong, it's great that effective (ish) vaccines are here and that there is on the whole very high levels of trust in them. Before the vaccines came on the scene, the director of the Wellcome trust argued that we need to tackle this on multiple fronts. Not put all our eggs in one basket. I'm not hearing that much about large amounts of money going into finding new, more effective treatments. Or am I missing something? I also feel the covidsniffer dogs could be scaled up massively and rolled out effectively. But will look into this idea of risk of infecting dogs (maybe can dogs get the vaccine, modified presumably)

P999 · 14/07/2021 20:48

Sorry for typos

user1492450936 · 14/07/2021 20:48

Two things
1st one - plenty of protests in France today
2nd one - President Macron did not 'sack' the Prime Minister- Edouard Philippe was widely seen has having done a good job. He resigned to become the elected Maire of Rouen. Under the French law, he cannot hold both posts and Maire of Rouen is perceived ed as a step further towards a possible Presidential campaign

Not saying it’s made up (although MSM do completely mislead twist and make up so much ‘news’) Millions of children have contracted covid. Most with no symptoms. Of course a small number will unfortunately go on to have post viral syndromes as is true with any virus. Many of these will have other serious health conditions including obesity. However, how many poor men and women have suffered serious long lasting effects of the vaccine or even death. Until this is properly and fully understood, no parent should feel forced to give it to their child. When (and very sadly / horrifyingly, I do feel it’s when not if) children die as a direct result of mass vaccinating them and that number overtakes the number who have died of covid there is going to be enormous regret about this. I have taken the jab. I didn’t feel comfortable about it one bit, but on balance being in my late 40’s I perceived my risk of potential covid to be greater than potential vaccine effects both now and in the future. I’m still not sure about my decision but it’s done now. No way in hell is my 12 year old daughter having this until all trials have been completed. She is not vulnerable and the risk of complications and post viral syndrome is thankfully very very tiny. The risk does not outweigh the risk of the vaccine at all for me.
P999 · 14/07/2021 20:54

Maybe a covid vaccine for dogs could be developed, was what I was trying to write

Especially when there is no choice about what vaccine you get.
You have some say in the matter in France - you will see what vaccines are offered by which vaccination centre when you sign up, and can choose accordingly. Although this mostly applies to over 55s only, younger people can only choose between Pfizer and Moderna.

Correct, but he is Mayor of Le Havre not Rouen.
logincard · 14/07/2021 21:02

I wish we would do the same in the UK ….

Whu020 · 14/07/2021 21:07

Maybe not so willing to put your child up for a vaccine that actually is not through its trials till 2023, after watching this

SparklyPyjamas · 14/07/2021 21:27

If you are referring to the Presidential election next year, I don't think so. She has gone too moderate for the extreme right. And no one will forget her incompetence in the last presidential debate she had against Macron, it was excruciatingly embarrassing. There are a lot of potential candidates who haven't yet put themselves forward officially. Eric Zemmour fir example, who has increased the ratings of Cnews drastically since being a polemicist there.

To be fair Macron has got some balls and wants to keep the people of France safe

Others could learn from this

I personally can't see a problem people should take up the vaccine

summerset · 14/07/2021 22:10

All it's going to do is stop people from being tested as they won't want to pay. Therefore, the virus will spread.
