No masks in Euro final?

I must say I have not been watching too much news recently. Did the fans have to show proof of a negative test before being allowed in? Most don't have masks on, or is it not a rule now for crowds not to have to wear them?

Masks would stop it being a full on super spreader event. Where's your sense of fun?

Katie517 · 11/07/2021 21:29

No it’s a free for all which is apparently fine for football and tennis but heaven forbid I have more than 30 at my babies christening or more than 5 other people inside my house.....

delilahbucket · 11/07/2021 21:31

Fully vaccinated or negative test for entry. The scientists are watching these events very closely as it's great data for them to see how Covid spreads when people are close by but vaccinated or testing negative. Despite what Facebook users say, these events are actually very useful.

TheUnquestionedAnswer · 11/07/2021 21:34

I'm still not going to pubs, gigs or anything public, despite what the gov want.

Considering some fans without tickets got in (as reported on ITV) I’m wondering how good these controls and checks will have been!

FourteenthDoctor · 11/07/2021 21:35

Bully for you

My DS went to the England-Denmark game on Wednesday. He’s under 18 so had to provide evidence of a LF negative test within 48 hours beforehand. But as there is no requirement to do tests afterwards I don’t understand how scientists can follow the results of these people gathering in their way?
TakeYourFinalPosition · 11/07/2021 21:47

It’s a test event. So like the others, it’s proof of a test on entry, no masks, and then optional tests on day 3 and 7.

Sadly not a lot of people seem to be doing the tests afterwards, so I’d question the benefit, but that hasn’t stopped any of the other test events going ahead either.

Ok suit yourself but I and many others will
MrsKDB · 11/07/2021 21:51

The checking is non existent. I could have shown them any QR code at all and gained entry to Wimbledon, they barely looked at my phone never mind scan / check anything . And the pics from trafalgar square etc?! Covid soup .

PaulaPetunia · 11/07/2021 21:53

I'm staying home for a while.

CantGetNoSleep73 · 11/07/2021 21:54

It's bullshit considering the amount of children out of school because of the rules.

Sick of the lot of it now...
A child can't even do a bloody lft and return or a negative pcr but for a stupid bloody sporting event - whatever!
Given the scenes in London and the mess too that some fans have caused, it's embarrassing

littlepeas · 11/07/2021 21:54

It is stupidly easy to fake a negative lft - it makes me laugh when places insist on self reported lft before things, as you don’t even need to do the test to register it as negative! They are pointless unless someone watches it being taken.

beela · 11/07/2021 21:56

There's no covid at football matches, it's all fine.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 11/07/2021 21:57

I went to the theatre last night, it was an outdoor event and masks were required when moving around but allowed off when seated and all groups chairs had 2m apart from other groups. I'm surprised gaps haven't been left between groups at Wembley considering how many empty seats there are. Looking at footage on twitter it looks like masks were worn inside near the food areas and then not in the stalls as I guess technically outside.

I suppose we are the only country purposefully trying to spread the Delta variant. Interesting to see if there is a leap in cases or hospital admissions in 2 weeks time, but also reassuring if there isn't.

LaurieFairyCake · 11/07/2021 21:57

Well I was at Wimbledon today and if you hadn't been double vaccinated more than 14 days ago you had to show proof of a lateral flow test. Dh had his second jab last weekend and took a lft last night and logged/photographed it.

And everyone was wearing masks going up to their seats and only when seated did they take them off

The majority of people wore masks. All the players and the officials and the ball girls/boys all came on court wearing them. At the ceremony after the officials came on in masks, socially distanced and then took them off

When they were interviewed after the match the interviewer was 2 metres away

All the stewards (there are hundreds) wore them all the time

There was one way in all bathrooms and walkways - and obviously it's mostly outside Grin

It was amazingly well organised and not a queue or a crush of people anywhere

So no, tennis is NOT like the scenes we have seen this evening

osbertthesyrianhamster · 11/07/2021 22:00

So stay home and wear a mask when you leave it then.

CantGetNoSleep73 · 11/07/2021 22:00

@LaurieFairyCake but it's not fair on all the children constantly isolating - test events my arse! Optional lft tests after. It's an absolute insult to parents. No sports days, no transition days, no proms etc etc meanwhile shit like this - crack on

How anyone can think this is acceptable now is beyond me

AfternoonToffee · 11/07/2021 22:01

It's an absolute joke, the management teams all have seats they can't use and all the fans are within licking distance of each other.

MrsKDB · 11/07/2021 22:01

Wimbledon was nothing like that on Friday. By the end of the second semi final it was carnage. Hammered posh people everywhere.

MrsKDB · 11/07/2021 22:03

It’s completely unfair on children, I quite agree

AfternoonToffee · 11/07/2021 22:04

I agree - I have all three dc at home now, ds was in contact outside of school but his year has now been sent home, dd1's year was sent home last week due to the high level of cases.

LaurieFairyCake · 11/07/2021 22:04

But Cantgetnosleep73 - don't you realise that your children aren't economically active and just cost money ?

We have an economy doncha know Wink

(Obviously I agree with you)

They will get rid of all that isolating in schools by next term (dh is a teacher) and just test even more - they've had so many tests sent to them in prep for next term already Hmm

CantGetNoSleep73 · 11/07/2021 22:08

@AfternoonToffee that is awful. I am so angry for parents. So much for education first 🤬 it's absolute madness seeing all these events, but wait a few weeks and it will all be "our fault" if cases rise and another lockdown looms
I wouldn't mind if kids could test and then carry on but not even a negative test sorts it

CantGetNoSleep73 · 11/07/2021 22:11

@LaurieFairyCake GrinI know.

I'm not a footie fan anyway, but I get the hysteria around this. I just don't get the one rule for one which has been pretty much consistent throughout. Bojo said education was a priority but he is such a lying 💩
It's a complete farce
