Would you go to an August wedding?

Been invited to a wedding early August that was rearranged from last year.

It’s a large wedding being held indoors in a hotel.

I’m excited to go but a bit nervous. Dh and I are both double jabbed and I imagine most of the guests are too.

Just the thought of a large group of people indoors is a bit worrying.

Or maybe we need to get on with life 🤷‍♀️

You're allowed to get sick you know Hmm this virus has made people be in fear of being sick. It's absolutely ridiculous. If you're double jabbed you're not immune it just lowers risk of hospitalisation and death. All this mask and not taking risks is putting our children at risk! Kids need to build their immune systems and it's just not happening, meaning future viruses may be worse than this because our youngsters have a crap immune system!!! I have 2 kids aged 5 & 3 and neither have had chicken pox yet because of all the lockdowns.

Plenty of people vaccinate their children against chicken pox...letting your children get sick with it isn’t the preferred option for everyone.

@Odisia

I'm quite shocked at how many people are saying they wouldn't go. Life is for living, and we've lived with restrictions for a long time. I've lost close family members in road accidents, but it doesn't stop me getting in a car. Life isn't without some element of risk.
I was shocked too & saddened.. the constant main stream media scaremongering has really done a number on so many people... Lockdown was so mentally damaging I couldn't wait to get out & about & so looking forward to seeing more smiling faces from next week.. the world will be a brighter place Smile

Go and let your hair down stop living in fear it's insane!!

Warhertisuff · 11/07/2021 18:11

Yes, I'd definitely go. It's time to stop living in fear of this.

DwangelaForever · 11/07/2021 18:58

My point is the fact that there's more social distancing and less exposure to chicken pox means that we will probs have to start vaccinating for it as standard even in low risk kids!!!

FunMcCool · 11/07/2021 19:21

@bendmeoverbackwards

You seem as if you want to govt to do a u turn so you don’t have to go! This isn’t the new norm, we want to get back to life pre Covid. If you’re not CEV and double jabbed, I’d seek help for health anxiety. This level of fear is not normal.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 11/07/2021 19:42

@BonnesVacances

So much I I I in this thread. Is that what Bojo means by personal responsibility? Each man for himself and fuck anyone else.Sad
So bloody what? People have been putting their lives on hold for other people for over a year, do you expect them to do it forevermore?
doorornottodoor · 11/07/2021 19:54

Also I would be put off in case I caught it/close contact and had to isolate and miss my holiday. I don’t really like weddings though.

doorornottodoor · 11/07/2021 19:57

Also kids have national sports trials this summer so I would hate for them to miss them. Just seen Alexandra Tolstoy on Instagram- her whole family plus her parents caught Covid at a wedding and they’ve been quite badly hit. No thanks !! It is rife here though and half our village seems to have it at the moment.

Mine managed to pick up chicken pox in nursery in Feb!
bumbleymummy · 11/07/2021 20:04

Yes, I would go. Yes, you should go. Yes, we need to get on with life :)

Abducted · 11/07/2021 20:05

Sounds great.

delilahbucket · 11/07/2021 20:06

Ours is mid August. Not one single guest has dropped out because they don't want to come due to covid. We're not having a buffet, were not going to be throwing our arms around everyone, but we will be having as normal as a wedding party as we can. We've waited an extra 18 months for it!

bendmeoverbackwards · 11/07/2021 21:03

@FunMcCool thanks for your concern, I don’t have ‘health anxiety’ 😂😂 I hardly think being a bit cautious of a large indoor gathering is extreme.

@bendmeoverbackwards

You’re doubled jabbed, and you’ve not said if your CEV. You are being extreme.

Longdistance · 11/07/2021 21:16

I’m going to a wedding next week, but it’s only 30 people.
If it was bigger, I’d still go. Life goes on…

bendmeoverbackwards · 11/07/2021 21:21

Not CEV and yes we are going. Slightly nervous but I don’t think that’s extreme. Extreme would be not leaving the house at all!

And you’re being an arrogant bully. Who are you to tell her she’s being extreme/has health anxiety?! I am also double jabbed and wouldn’t be happy in a room with 100 others. I don’t have health anxiety I’m just being cautious. I don’t need to explain myself to anyone. Most of my friends are similar though. Day to day fine but, due to high prevalence here, would think twice about large events. Luckily here in Scotland Nicola S is bring a bit more cautious.

So a bit of respect for other peoples’ views. I’m not criticising yours just saying it’s not for me.

LordFoofingtonismyMaster · 11/07/2021 21:23

Still only single jabbed and went to one yesterday. Honestly wearing formal clothing was harder than the wedding. It was so much fun. Low numbers, just both families but dancing and being normal. Was unreal!!

Cantstandsmugness · 11/07/2021 21:24

Yes yes yes

doorornottodoor · 11/07/2021 21:31

@delilahbucket I hope your wedding goes well. It’s stressful enough organising a wedding without a pandemic being thrown in for good measure! Flowers

bendmeoverbackwards · 11/07/2021 21:35

Thank you @doorornottodoor What are the current rules in Scotland?

OP posts:
RuthW · 11/07/2021 21:37

No I wouldn't go.

flashstyle · 11/07/2021 21:38

Not keen on weddings so I might use Covid as an excuse not to go! But I've got festivals and raves booked ahead so no fear of crowded indoor events at all (just the deathly boring ones).
