Would you go to a drive thru when self isolating

If someone in you house has a temp, sore throat and headache and negative lateral flow... would you visit a drive thru while waiting for pcr results to come back?

Yes.

CheddarGorge · 08/07/2021 18:02

@littlepeas

Yes.
Can I ask why?

No

IDontDrinkTea · 08/07/2021 18:02

No of course not?! I’m surprised this is even a question

OffCycling · 08/07/2021 18:03

No, don't be silly!
As an aside, lateral flow tests aren't meant to be used if someone has symptoms anyway. My colleague tested negative on lateral flow on Friday, positive on PCR Saturday. She's been feeling really rough all week, despite being double vaccinated.

No, but I live somewhere I can get food delivery really easily. I wouldn’t judge if they lived somewhere more rural and had to wait for the food shop and had no food in. But I’d expect them to take all possible precautions.

fassnk · 08/07/2021 18:06

Yep I would. Social distancing with the staff behind the windows, contactless payment and any interaction lasting less than a minute seems pretty low risk to me.

Abraxan · 08/07/2021 18:07

Only drive thru I'd go to would be a PCR drive thru, not a take away one.
I'd call for take out instead - that can be done contactless. Drive thru can't.

Figgyboa · 08/07/2021 18:07

No

PotteringAlong · 08/07/2021 18:08

No! Why on earth would you?

CheddarGorge · 08/07/2021 18:08

Thanks, having a debate with dh about it. He thinks it would be ok, I think it's as bad as going to Barnard castle for an eye test.

Dd has the temp. I tested her yesterday morning as standard on a school morning. Then yesterday evening as she asked as she had a sore throat. She didn't have a temp. Tested her again this morning and they've all be negative. However she came out with a huge temp this evening that's gone right down after calpol but her throat is still sore. She's 12

Not with symptoms no. My daughters bubble has just burst she’s had a negative lateral flow and I’ve let her come go in the car to the drive thru. I really think drives and walks should be allowed while isolating for people’s mental health.

MrsCrosbyNRTB · 08/07/2021 18:09

This is what we were going to do as dh has to isolate after being a close contact but no symptoms. We were planning to go in the car but now dd has an actual symptom I don't think it's ok by any means

Nope. That's why we have Uber Eats and Deliveroo who deliver to your door mat and run away quickly

Ffs. No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TakeYourFinalPosition · 08/07/2021 18:24

No.

Delivery apps would be okay, or delivery from somewhere that does cover your location - or if you don't have that, maybe asking a friend to drive round for you?

But no, I wouldn't go.

LucilleTheVampireBat · 08/07/2021 18:25

I would.

onlylemonade · 08/07/2021 18:27

Not if someone had symptoms, no.

Isolating due to being a close contact but no symptoms- maybe. Especially if it's a child sat in the back so absolutely no contact with anyone else- whereas the driver has to speak to the staff, take the food etc which is different.

Wherediditgo · 08/07/2021 18:30

I think it’s fine. I fail to see how interaction at a drive thru is any higher than a delivery driver coming to your house, tbh.
