Would you go to a drive thru when self isolating

If someone in you house has a temp, sore throat and headache and negative lateral flow... would you visit a drive thru while waiting for pcr results to come back?

Not I had symptoms but I would go alone if my child did, and I was fine.

Backofbeyond50 · 08/07/2021 18:35

No

PurpleSunrise · 08/07/2021 18:37

Would you go because you have no other way to get food? Or just because you/others fancy it?

TakeYourFinalPosition · 08/07/2021 18:38

I fail to see how interaction at a drive thru is any higher than a delivery driver coming to your house, tbh.

The delivery drivers around here have been leaving the delivery at the door and getting back in the car to watch you collect it since Covid started here - I think it's national policy for Uber Eats and Deliveroo.

Whatever9999 · 08/07/2021 18:44

@OldTinHat

Nope. That's why we have Uber Eats and Deliveroo who deliver to your door mat and run away quickly
Aren't you lucky, some of us don't have these services.

Absolutely! There is zero contact at a drive thru - none whatsoever. The world has gone mad.
safariboot · 08/07/2021 18:57

A few months ago I would have said "only if I have to". Ie, if if there's literally no other way to get food.

But now? UEFA bigwigs and rich businessmen are being waved past quarantine. The previous health secretary was snogging his mistress. The government is happy to let the virus spread and evolve. So why should I bother?

HeartIess · 08/07/2021 18:59

Wtf

How is that even necessary?

Can’t you wait for a day to get that junk?

My fear is if the car broke down or something that made us have to leave the car for some reason

Yeah why not Hmm.

If people are still asking shit like this no wonder we are where we are.

WheresMySnackPack · 08/07/2021 19:11

@littlepeas of course there is contact!!
Your car is less than 2m away from someone handing you your food. Don't be so inconsiderate.

Vimtogenie · 08/07/2021 19:11

Nope.

That’s why there’s mcdelivery.

Been for several pcrs as a family & literally went to the test centre & straight back until negative results came in. Asked family to walk the dog.

Aside from contact with the drive through staff, what if there’s an accident? They’d then potentially come into contact with police, firemen, paramedics, doctors, nurses….

Backhills · 08/07/2021 19:17

No. I have become more slack/less fussy with the general rules, but I wouldn't do that to people if someone here had symptoms.

Kakey1294129 · 08/07/2021 19:30

I would say not but I know many people have done on the way back from pcr testing. I wouldn't do it but McDonald's can be totally contact free if you use the app to order and pay. Just got to hand you the food.

andweallsingalong · 08/07/2021 19:31

Nope, when we were waiting for DD's results we paid a fortune for uber eats and dealt with the hassle when they forgot the burger from her happy meal.

MiddleParking · 08/07/2021 19:33

I wouldn’t really care about it being Covid specifically, but I’d want to keep a poorly child at home under a duvet. As a ‘close contact’ I would happily go about my business as usual though.

Largethighsbadeyes · 08/07/2021 21:17

This thread (and others like it) make me feel like a prize dickhead and a bad mum

DS has been isolating since last Friday as a close contact. I've followed the rules despite 2 negative LFT tests and no symptoms.

No walks. No drives. Nothing.

I'm doing my bit and no other fucker is!

Largethighsbadeyes · 08/07/2021 21:18

Just got to hand you the food.

So not totally contact free at all then Hmm

beentoldcomputersaysno · 08/07/2021 21:23

Can't she be left at home and you collect the drive thru?

Megan2018 · 08/07/2021 21:23

We did when toddler DD was on her umpteenth self isolation from nursery-she has had 7 negative PCR tests in a small time frame.
It got a bit daft as it was relentless intermittent temp at nursery.

I also did on way home after getting pinged on the app. But we had nothing for dinner and I figured Tesco was worse (there are no takeaway deliveries here).

I wouldn’t go if I was symptomatic though.

Indoctro · 08/07/2021 21:24

Considering it's 15 minutes in a enclosed space to catch covid so the science says can't see how going to a drive through is any risk what so ever ..?

Watchingyou2sleezes · 08/07/2021 21:25

Yes

Mpsister · 08/07/2021 21:26

No, of course not. How selfish

TotorosCatBus · 08/07/2021 21:34

No. I'd take a passenger to go into the restaurant to collect a takeaway.

Brokenrecord3006 · 08/07/2021 21:54

I would, seems very low risk.
