Would you go to a drive thru when self isolating

If someone in you house has a temp, sore throat and headache and negative lateral flow... would you visit a drive thru while waiting for pcr results to come back?

you dont give calpol to a 12 year old do you? liquid?

finkirt · 08/07/2021 21:57

No!!

.Order a delivery if you need to but stand well back and wear a mask and sanitise your hands before answering door.

GreyhoundG1rl · 08/07/2021 21:58

Why do some muppets still not understand what "isolating" means?!

Perfectlystill · 08/07/2021 21:58

Yes

MarianneUnfaithful · 08/07/2021 22:07

No.

Breakdown, puncture, minor crash…

SantiagoSky · 08/07/2021 22:19

I would worry about contracting it from the DC in the car.

Wellbythebloodyhell · 08/07/2021 22:21

Not if I could help it but I certainly wouldn't starve because of it. If it was the only option to get food for whatever reason then yes I would

RestingFace · 08/07/2021 22:28

I calculate that if you do this, you are likely to kill, on average, 0.3 grannies and 0.1 nurses. Grandads and doctors not calculated.

BogRollBOGOF · 08/07/2021 22:39

Symptomless popped bubble contacts with DCs in the back of the car, yes. They're not breathing near any servers to create any credible risk and the car gets ventilated at the order speaker before you get to the pay/ collect windows.
It's not like there's a dense miasma building up that gets released making a beeline for the serving hatch.

Quaggars · 08/07/2021 22:41

No.
Because common sense says that isn't bloody self isolating if you're going out for a drive, regardless of whether you stay in the car or not!
I know it's an if, but what if there was an accident? You'd have people tending to you then, and really selfish and unfair to expose them as you couldn't stay at home.

Undersnatch · 08/07/2021 22:43

No. Why is your DH need for drive through more important than the potential for others to catch things. I used to feel this before covid, people who would go out before 48hr d&v passed. I don’t understand it.

Maryann1975 · 08/07/2021 22:48

Yep, I have done. There’s a Starbucks drive though on the way back from the test centre. Order through the microphone thing, Masks on, hand sanitise, payment, get the drinks. There is contact with another person at arms length, for less than a minute, no touching involved. The same as if I ordered a takeaway to my front door Actually, our local takeaway is probably worse as they only deal with no cash - no cards/contactless/pay online at all.

Sixplus you can. She won't take a tablet. You can get the dissolvable ones but I'd rather the liquid as all the dc can use it

Yes I would and have done.
I dont see the issue to be honest.

Iloveitall · 09/07/2021 07:00

What about I fi had to isolate and still pick up my primary child with medical needs so others couldn’t do that. Could I wait in the car for her for a teacher to bring her to the car? I wouldn’t be getting out of the car at all. I’m not isolating but thinking about if I have to as work somewhere where cases are going up rapidly.

Speak to the school. At the end of the day you can't perform miracles, if you absolutely have no other option and you need to pick up kids then I don't see what else you can do

Yeah I will if it comes to it. Only a week to go so hopefully it won’t happen.

You don't have to stand back here, the driver is long gone before I can get to the door! Not sure why I'd want to sanitise my hands though, do people really use sanitiser in their home rather than soap and water?
Wherediditgo · 09/07/2021 13:42

Aside from contact with the drive through staff, what if there’s an accident? They’d then potentially come into contact with police, firemen, paramedics, doctors, nurses

The OP could also have an accident in the home. That happens too.

The way I see it, if you both had an NHS test and trace app on your phone (you and the server) it wouldn’t even ping them to say they needed to SI if YOU were the one with Covid, OP.

It’s probably moot now as this was the other day but I’d thoroughly wash hands before leaving the house, pop on a mask and sanitise again before grabbing the food.

Our just eat drivers hand the food over here, by the way.

luckylavender · 09/07/2021 13:54

No. Surprised this is a question.

What, the DC you live with and care for?
