Not that I or DS (17) have much of a choice. We live in central London, do not have a car and DS won't be vaccinated till next year.

I wouldn't as I'd like to see my adult son before he dies.

osbertthesyrianhamster · 05/07/2021 13:50

Yes. I won't give it a second thought.

beentoldcomputersaysno · 05/07/2021 13:54

Not with cases as they are. My london borough has doubled this week. I don't need it for work at the moment so will just have to thwart social plans to go into london and spend more locally.

EnjoyingTheSilence · 05/07/2021 13:55

I got a bike so I don’t have to get back on the trains and tube. Hated it before anyway. Have been back in about a dozen times and now love my commute.

The new cycle lanes are amazing, so much safet

EnjoyingTheSilence · 05/07/2021 13:55

Wilkolampshade · 05/07/2021 13:59

Yep.

mn2022 · 05/07/2021 14:00

Yes.

Because funnily enough, I didn't see covid rates hugely dropping when we all started wearing masks.

We've been wearing them for a year and this pandemic is still happening.

Use your common sense

JustDanceAddict · 05/07/2021 14:09

Yes I will. Not sure if I’ll wear a mask or not yet. I’ll be more likely to it in rush hour, otherwise prob not (might bring it and decide).
I’m double vaccinated so not majorly worried, but still think they should be mandatory on public transport as you are so close to others.

time4anothername · 05/07/2021 14:10

yes, I have been and there are always a lot of unmasked now, worse time at night when you add in alcohol and people shouting. I am keeping everything crossed that my double vax is good enough and that if I do get Delta, the numbers of which are up, up and away in my borough, I'll have a mild course and then the best of both worlds immunity as I have a poor health record with viruses.

I hope I can keep wearing a mask on the tube myself though without getting shit from people as I often feel nausea with my health condition and it's great not to be smelling arm pits, bad breath and assorted MacDonalds and KFCs

Verite1 · 05/07/2021 14:15

I’ve never had strong feelings about masks one way or the other. I will continue to wear a mask on tube though and would prefer it remains mandatory. Just think an enclosed space like a tube with no ventilation is perfect place for it to spread.

Tavannach · 05/07/2021 14:15

I don't have a choice about using the tube sometimes. I'll still be wearing a mask. They really don't bother me at all and I think it's better for the staff.

SoSadAboutMyDad · 05/07/2021 14:17

Double vaxxed and absolutely not. They are Covid factories.

FflosFfantastig · 05/07/2021 14:19

Yes. If I was worried enough I'd wear a mask.

IcedPurple · 05/07/2021 14:33

Yes, without hesitation.

WantingToWonder · 05/07/2021 14:46

I try to never travel on the tube but needs must and I won't be wearing a mask as soon as allowed.

I've had Covid and double vaccinated. Also CEV and past this shit.

PotassiumChloride · 05/07/2021 14:49

Yes I would. I appreciate others might take a different view but it doesn’t really bother me to be honest.

Feelinghothothottoday · 05/07/2021 14:50

Yes.

MercyBooth · 05/07/2021 17:00

i live in a small town and use a local bus route. They have the bloody heaters on IN JULY. Apparently they cant turn them off.

Bus is usually empty when i get on. The rules that suit a huge city are over the top for a small town.

Topseyt · 05/07/2021 17:05

Of course I will still use the tube when we can go unmasked. Looking forward to it hopefully soon.

Why the hell wouldn't I?

GolfEchoRomeoTangoIndia · 05/07/2021 17:50

Because it’s a small, incredibly cramped environment and there’s a raging pandemic on Topseyt?

I personally will put up with it because I think my personal risk is low-ish, but vaccines aren’t foolproof, and the risk of a couple of weeks feeling like shit is still significant. It’s definitely not a crazy thing to worry about. And I’ll probably pick buses and walking over tubes a bit more than I previously would have.

RickiTarr · 05/07/2021 17:52

If I wasn’t CEV it wouldn’t worry me.

DeadButDelicious · 05/07/2021 18:09

I don't live in London but I am reliant on public transport, I plan to continue wearing a mask on the bus and other small enclosed areas and I will definitely use them in the winter. I'm double vaxxed but I'd rather not have to isolate as it's a right faff.

I don’t think you’re alone. At minimum I’ll be washing my fabric ones and putting them away for the winter.
MavisMavis · 05/07/2021 19:02

Are people preferring to listen to Boris' advice on masks, rather than that of Whitty and Valance?

Happy36 · 05/07/2021 19:09

As I'm having cancer treatment, I can't be around unmasked people especially in inside or crowded places.

Where I live (not UK), masks are mandatory. If this were to end, I'd have to shield, which would be personally disappointing as I'm currently able to work outside of treatment hours, sometimes do mild exercise, do my own food shopping, and sometimes visit museums or go for walks with friends, all of which make me feel better and help me get stronger.

I know that some people don't want to wear masks anymore, but it seems a small gesture to support the many vulnerable people and also to reduce further strain on the health service (if I can't use public transport, l would need 2-4 ambulances per day, and a nurse to come to my house every day) and paying out sick pay (as I wouldn't be able to work).
