I've seen one poster say this and I'm curious what other people will answer

OP posts:
BlueLobelia · 28/06/2021 21:19

Both. I have chronic asthma as does both my children. My parents and sister live abroad and I'd like to see them again. I want my Dcs ti have a proper regular experience growing up of trips, and the cinema and travel and schooling in an actual classroom. It all melds into the bigger picture.

Treezan82 · 28/06/2021 21:20

I've had Covid and wasn't too bad, so it isn't for that reason. it's to get through this pandemic and get our freedom back and also I pay for the flu jab every year so I don't end up infecting someone I love who might get much worse symptoms than me, so for that reason too.

Ihavethesamedress · 28/06/2021 21:22

@bluejelly

So I wouldn't spread it to other people.
You do realise the vaccine doesn't stop you from spreading it, don't you?!
ClumpingBambooIsALie · 28/06/2021 21:23

In order of importance:

  1. To protect me and the CEV/CV/older people I care about
  2. To contribute towards the effort to lower community transmission and thereby a) protect others and b) allow for opening up
greensnail · 28/06/2021 21:29

It makes you less likely to spread it. Nothing's ever 100% effective.

PotassiumChloride · 28/06/2021 21:29

Both. Although I don’t particularly care whether I get Covid or not, the risk to me personally is negligible.

redcarbluecar · 28/06/2021 21:29

Both. I don’t want Covid and wanted to feel more relaxed about things.

frogswimming · 28/06/2021 21:29

Both.

Mainly for my health as it's very important to me to stay healthy for my children.

Secondly, so I can eventually travel to see my family in another country and go on holiday.

Thirdly, for the greater good of not spreading it to those who can't get vaccinated; and to play a part in the suppression of the virus so society opens up more.

I have only had one so far and am really looking forward to getting my second vaccine and the consequent optimism.

MorriseysGladioli · 28/06/2021 21:31

I had it purely for work reasons.
I didn't even really have time to consider it.
I was railroaded, in effect.

DGFB · 28/06/2021 21:31

Both. Don’t want to risk early death, want to protect others and yes, contributing to the ability of everyone to have their freedom (which would not have happened if not many people got vaccinated)

Souther · 28/06/2021 21:32

This is the truth.

My husband was going abroad for a while

I've got two kids to look after on my own until he comes back.hes currently stuck abroad.

I cant afford to be ill. I took the jab.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 28/06/2021 21:33

I already had Covid so I didn't want to risk getting it again or any of the variants

Mayaspecialist · 28/06/2021 21:34

I had it in the hope that if I catch it again, it's not going to have so much of an impact on my life.

Icanhearyoubutiwont · 28/06/2021 21:46

100% for my freedom. Already had covid in the first wave. I want to see my family overseas

speakingofart · 28/06/2021 21:47

Freedom.

It won’t work, the restrictions will carry on anyway but I wanted to be able to say to my kids who won’t ever know freedoms that I tried.

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 28/06/2021 21:53

Both.

Icanhearyoubutiwont · 28/06/2021 21:55

@speakingofart

Freedom.

It won’t work, the restrictions will carry on anyway but I wanted to be able to say to my kids who won’t ever know freedoms that I tried.

Do you think restrictions will carry on forever then? Surely they have to end at some point
Kenworthington · 28/06/2021 21:58

Both. My mum died from Covid in January. It’s been the absolute worst year of my life. I want some semblance of normality back.

frozendaisy · 28/06/2021 22:01

I tend to get most vaccines going pandemic or no pandemic.

bumblingbovine49 · 28/06/2021 22:01

Mostly for my health . I am 56 with a few factors that make.me.higher risk so I was very pleased.to get the vaccine to increase my chances of avoiding getting ill and also to be able to do.more stuff with confidence.

ineedaholidaynow · 28/06/2021 22:03

To be safer round family especially my DM and other elderly relatives

Bobholll · 28/06/2021 22:03

Both. I’ve two young kids, anything I can do to not get ill, I’ll take it. I wish they’d make a norovirus vaccine, that’s wiped us all out more than once & it’s dreadful. My mum is CEV, it reduces my risk of passing it on.

Also, want my freedom back, who doesn’t?!

Norugratsatall · 28/06/2021 22:03

Probably a bit of both. I have had Covid (now have Long Covid) but was worried about catching it again. However, I did feel a certain amount of 'peer pressure' to have the jab. I was concerned how the jab might affect current health caused by LC.

Thatswatshesaid · 28/06/2021 22:04

So I can visit family with less worry about passing it on and so I don’t run the risk of getting very seriously ill.

SmithfamilyRobinson · 28/06/2021 22:10

Health. I am a normal 50-odd year old. I had glandular fever a few years ago (caught from teen son who probably has developed chronic fatigue as a result but is in denial). I was so sick for ages. It dented my enjoyment of so many things I love. Also have had proper flu (couldn't remember my full name/full address). I am now front of the line for the flu jab. Absolutely respect people wanting the jab for freedom.
