@Wakeupin2022

Should also mention that I don't think the Sii batches will be a real issue.

I think this is probably more a case of poor communication by EU as these decisions are made at national level.

yeah dent think it'll be a problem, many countries have said they'll use it. Just surprised he's saying that they've not been used in the country when some of you have had that batch,
MakeminealargeSauvignon · 06/07/2021 13:33

Hi,

Sorry if this has been spoken about already, but it's obviously a very long thread and I couldn't see it after skimming. Although I suspect I'd just missed it...

What percentage of patients who have been hospitalised with Covid have received both jabs? Also, is there data on when those hospitalised actually caught covid after having the second jab? That's surely quite important.

I'm currently trying to reassure my very anxious dm, who has had both jabs, but is getting increasingly concerned by the reports of breakthrough infections and hospitalisations and I fear is going to go back to hiding away.

TIA

lurker101 · 06/07/2021 13:36

I thought he was just making the point that it was an Astra Zeneca vaccine (and whilst it may have been produced by SII it remains so) similar to an M&S rotisserie chicken made in the O’Kane’s factory which also makes say an Asda chicken is still an M&S chicken as it’s to the recipe and butchery treatments etc. specified by M&S and gets the M&S label on it at the end. Hopefully once SII submit documents to EMA it’ll be resolved fairly quickly for everyone involved worldwide.

I'm really wondering if Newcastle will not scrap bubbles on the 19th. One week left. I actually anticipate many parents pulling kids out of school.

Several out of school clubs have cancelled summer care over concerns and a soft play party was cancelled by the venue due to worries over rising rates at the weekend.

@MakeminealargeSauvignon table 4 in that has Delta numbers for attendance to emergency care and deaths by vaccination status. So a starting point at least.

Good. Based on parent's expressions at pick up, bubble closure will be over their dead bodies!

Wakeupin2022 · 06/07/2021 15:49

Some positive signs in Scotland?

2363 cases and positivity of 10.2% compared to 3118 and positivity rate of 11.6% last Sunday.

Still a long way to go but hopefully it's a turning point.

herecomesthsun · 06/07/2021 16:07

[quote EasterIssland]England will be entering “uncharted territory” in its wholesale scrapping of Covid lockdown rules and infection numbers could easily rise above 100,000 a day over the summer, the health secretary has said.

some restrictions might have to be reimposed in the future.

Asked about government projections that infection rates were likely to reach 50,000 a day by 19 July, Javid accepted it was “fair to say” that even this figure could double or more. The highest daily infection rate for the UK thus far recorded was just over 81,000, seen in late December.

Well, it's more sensible to go by the ONS survey figures, and it's very likely that the actual figures were higher in December; it's also highly likely that the figures were higher than that back in March 2020 though we don't have confirmation of that.

Itsprobablynotcominghome · 06/07/2021 16:09

1998 patients in hospital in England.

So for the week from 3rd. 1636 to 1998. 22% increase, with 4x days to go. Need a miracle to avoid 30% for the week I think. (2126).

BanditoShipman · 06/07/2021 16:14

37 deaths Shock

28,773 cases.

Beebityboo · 06/07/2021 16:15

Those deaths have jumped a bit Sad. Was really surprised to see it so high but I suppose this is to be expected. Really beginning to worry we will see deaths in the three digits again in the not so distant future.

Week on week it's very stable though. Try not to focus on daily figures any more. Also look at ONS which although only up to June 25th, shows that deaths continue to be low, and very flat.

Always trying to be positive I know, but also look at the daily admissions, which are much higher. So although 400 odd are recently being admitted every day, total in hospital is only rising between 50 and 100. So, assuming shorter stays and less ill, higher turnaround.

Not sure that the main (and only big) hospital in the Highlands and Islands going to Code Black today is very good news, however.

BigWoolly
I was wondering about length of stay etc

I appreciate info

MrsRussell · 06/07/2021 16:23

Deaths appear to be a catching up of historic data again so I'd not worry too desperately about that just yet. (This from the gov.uk site...unless we don't think their data is reliable any more?)

Date United Kingdom daily United Kingdom total
05-07-2021 3 128,268

03-07-2021 16 128,253

@BigWoollyJumpers

Look back to the first week in October. Looks the same to me. I think you always had quite a high level of discharges.

Itsprobablynotcominghome · 06/07/2021 16:57

@NannyAndJohn

Didn’t the doubling time take a hit with today’s cases?

Wakeupin2022 · 06/07/2021 16:59

Not sure that the main (and only big) hospital in the Highlands and Islands going to Code Black today is very good news, however.

Nope probably not. And it's a problem that will hit may hospitals in England I'm a couple if weeks.

It looks to be self isolations and planned annual leave that is the main problem.

And cases in Scotland are at a very high level. There is a lot less natural immunity although the repot does mention that the virus is in care homes which is never good news, even if the residents are vaccinated.

I will still continue to look on the bright side though. If the growth in daily case rates falls then it takes the pressure of the hospitals sooner.

I don't know remaining capacity is in other areas. It does make you wonder what her different tiers are for. Highlands and Islands are Tier 1 / 0. Glasgow and surrounding areas, Tier 2 but there is a greater hospital capacity.

wintertravel1980 · 06/07/2021 17:46

Didn’t the doubling time take a hit with today’s cases?

Yes but only slightly - England is now doubling every 10 days (vs 9).
