Almost all in the 10-29 year age band like everywhere else. Loads in Hampton and Teddington; house parties?

Yes, but it's not about the cases that queries me, I know where they come from - it's about the testing, I would expect university boroughs to have considerably higher rates of testing and hence higher case numbers.

We keep being told "no-one is following the rules" "no-one is testing", but at the same time we have lots of cases in groups who have little reason to test (Scottish travelling football fans, and 20 year old party goers) suggesting actually people are testing lots - and not just symptomatically if the rates in these places are higher than the neighbouring uni-towns where we know they are doing lots of asymptomatic testing.

South West districts
@boys3 is Bristol the one by the x? Can’t see where it’s otherwise. Maybe we are Corona free :)
lonelyplanet · 30/06/2021 20:43

I find this graph interesting, also from Dr Duncan Robertson. The vaccines clearly started to have a bigger impact from the end of May.

Amazing ! I really like it. Have to say uk has gone of the most user friendly websites for tej Corona information. And also gives loads more info than other countries

Cool.

Nottingham seems to stick out as a concern for me.

MargaretThursday · 30/06/2021 21:45

I've just checked my area for vaccines and apparently no one in our estate has had a 2nd dose, which is very odd as me and dh definitely have, and everyone else I know over 40 says they have had too!

There does appear to be a few data gaps stills.

The MSOA adjacent to mine shows zero 2nd dose which having the data for every age band in every MSOA I know to be incorrect.

So perhaps a few early glitches with map or not all data loaded correctly.

Nottingham seems to stick out as a concern for me.

Areas with large university populations will have lower vaccination numbers because of the age groups

Koalaslippers · 30/06/2021 22:16

I need to express my excitement at the vaccine graphics here as DH looked at me like I was mad.

The centre of cities seem to have a trend of being lower levels of vaccination than cases, my hypothesis is that age distribution is contributing so hoping that isn't a persistent trend.

Yes it's quite noticeable isn't it those much lighter patches around where uni students live. But most will be vaccinated hopefully from their parent's addresses.

Bit of a change to CV rules; boosters for anyone who gets a flu jab (presumably not kids) www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-57667987:

"More than 30 million of the most vulnerable should receive a third dose, vaccine experts are advising.

They will include all adults aged 50 and over, and anyone younger who qualifies for a flu jab."

boys3 · 30/06/2021 22:42

Looking across a partial selection (about 100) UTLAs real consistency in the distribution of cases between admittedly quite broad age groups.

Aged 50 and over ; from the selection around 10% of cases in the most recent week; range 3.8% Tower Hamlets to 20% IoW

10 to 29s just under 60% of cases; more cases so wider range; however lowest still at 40% Slough ; highest 80% Rutland, York.

30 to 49s just under 25%; range just shy of 10% Rutland; York through to around 40%, Slough, Swindon

Which leaves the 0 to 9s at just under 8%, range 0% IoW, Rutland then York, Islington less than 2% through to 18% Derby

Download file around 1.5 million records so just using excel bring the 1 million row constraint - a few memories there:)

I admit I am vaccine hesitant and vey much in the fence right now about what to do so let me just put that there and it’s why I’m asking this question.

Does this not appear slightly concerning that this isn’t an updated booster formulation, instead it’s just more of the same? It just strikes me as odd that they’re doing this, they said the boosters would be updated vaccines to work against the variants.

Do they not believe the antibodies last?

How often are we going to need to be injected in order to live normally?

Is this safe when there’s no data available to suggest how long immunity lasts for?

I've read that having a third AZ vaccination is not recommended, has there been any developments on this?

It’s an interesting change, and means I will qualify for a booster despite having to wait for my age group for the original jabs. I assume it’s for simplicity if they are planning to administer them together.
Eccle80 · 30/06/2021 22:54

I wonder whether they will give different vaccines to the original as a booster? I was a bit surprised to see from a friend that Canada seem to be giving out all kinds of vaccines combinations for the two doses across AZ, Pfizer and Moderna.

sirfredfredgeorge · 30/06/2021 22:55

Bad sentence, as it won't be any under 12's who qualify for the flu jab I'm sure.

MRex · 30/06/2021 22:59

@Whichjab - best to stick with reputable sources. The third jab for AZ had very good results: amp.ft.com/content/c5297d58-ad6d-490f-89e0-74f9c13377e4.

Thewiseoneincognito · 30/06/2021 23:03

@Eccle80 I keep reading various Drs on Twitter saying follow AZ with X to give you more antibodies or get an extra shot of X. It just feels like there’s no plan, just making it up as they go along, contradicting original manufacturers advice and offering vague assurances.

I don’t want to lose my place in society over this but I’m just confused as to what’s best to do and it seems those in the know as just as confused as I am. 😢

Eccle80 · 30/06/2021 23:08

@Thewiseoneincognito it does seem like there isn’t clear data yet on combining vaccines, and intervals for boosters. I’d have much rather been in group 6 and been able to have my first dose earlier, but as I wasn’t, will the timing of the autumn booster be right for me or not as I’m now included on that?

However, seeing as Canada are mixing vaccines, there must be some data coming out on immune responses which might help before the final booster decision is made.
