I absolutely will NOT.

I'm counting the days until I can ditch the horrible things.

Will participate in a mask burning ceremony.

Tallpaulwho · 25/06/2021 22:38

Yes because clinically vulnerable children who aren't vaccinated still need protection.

Franklin12 · 25/06/2021 22:41

Only when I have a cold

SouthKoreaquestion · 25/06/2021 22:53

www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/question-and-answers-hub/q-a-detail/coronavirus-disease-covid-19-masks

Here is the WHO's advice on masks. You will find plenty of advice on type of mask, fitting masks etc. Nowhere will you the WHO suggesting that masks are a waste of time. Lots of people seem to have a weird view that as masks don't offer 100% protection against Covid they are pointless. We don't apply that logic for other risk reduction measures.

Smokeymirror · 25/06/2021 22:56

Nope! There are always going to be vulnerable people and while that is very sad it is up to them to keep themselves safe. People shouldn’t be made to feel guilty for doing what is right for them.

Gothichouse40 · 25/06/2021 23:01

Definitely on public transport. Otherwise will just go by scientists advice.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 25/06/2021 23:02

No, as soon as they are no longer required I will stop. I honestly think a big part of it is a “visual reminder” to people to distance, and that things are not normal - I am not convinced in terms of how much protection most people are getting from cloth masks like I use.

julietmanchester · 25/06/2021 23:03

Yes in crowded indoor places like the grocery store, but not outside.

Wizzbangfizz · 25/06/2021 23:06

Nope and I've started to not wear masks where I think I can get away with it.

Mumof3girlsandaboy · 25/06/2021 23:14

Same here
UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 25/06/2021 23:17

SlipperyDippery yes officially though everyone has discovered that you can actually wash them... Massive environmental negative if you wear them for a maximum of four hours as recommended, but effective.

As our nbwrs are below 1 per 100,000 locally we now only wear them in public indoor spaces like ahops. However I was wearing them on 12 hour shifts until recently. All my colleagues and residents at work are now 4 weeks post second vaccination and when that is the case and numbers are below 50 per 100,000 we don't have to wear them at work - first time in 18 months and it does feel odd.

Will you continue to wear a mask?
BogRollBOGOF · 25/06/2021 23:36

I gave up on face coverings in January. The panic attacks were intensifying to the point that my only weekly outing to the supermarket (other than walks/ runs) was becoming an irrationally big deal. I was not going to risk self harming in public mode a second time.

I still hate the sight of others in them. The loss of lipreading and facial expression combined with distorted speech is too much to process. So I look down, away or squint with my worse eye to avoid seeing the vile things.

People are free to wear the stupid things if they wish. I'm free to not look in the direction of where their faces should be.

HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 25/06/2021 23:38

Yes!!

Boofay · 25/06/2021 23:44

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes! And I'm so surprised to read that so many are in a rush to ditch them.
Having some CLEAN cloth around my face doesn't bother me and it makes me feel a little more confident about going into shops.
I'm all for building natural immunities to coughs and colds etc, but not while 'rona babona is on the rise again.

ApplesinmyPocket · 25/06/2021 23:47

@QueefofSheena

Yep, I’ll be following the Asian model and using them in public spaces. I don’t see why people make such a big fuss about it, it’s quite pathetic.
That about sums up my position too.
Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 25/06/2021 23:48

No. I have started going in shops without it to be honest.

HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 25/06/2021 23:57

@UKmumtobe of course people don't care. Covid has shown just how many selfish twunts there are in this world. There's been days when I've struggled wearing a face covering, especially on the days it's hot and my job requires me to wear one all the time, but I will gladly continue to wear one for as long as it is deemed necessary in order to keep the people around me safe and well.

tappitytaptap · 26/06/2021 00:55

God no, most people don’t give a toss now, apart from inexplicably people on mumsnet 🤷‍♀️

tappitytaptap · 26/06/2021 01:05

@Tuberoses

Yes. I don’t fancy catching Covid. A government decision to ditch masks will be political not scientific. Unfortunately if everyone else stops wearing them I’ll be able to go out a lot less.
But why? For most people it is like a bad cold.
tappitytaptap · 26/06/2021 01:07

@LadyCatStark

Not a flaming chance. In fact I’m about at the point of ditching them all together if only I dared to brave the judgement, even though I think most other people are only wearing them for the same reasons. Id definitely rather have the cold germs and TBH I’d rather have Covid too.
I am genuinely glad I have two small children who have passed me various colds and bugs over this period from school/nursery as I think my immune system is in much better shape than those who have been in a sterile environment.
Tumbleweed101 · 26/06/2021 01:09

No, once they are no longer a legal requirement I won't be using them.

I work in an environment where young children climb, cuddle, cough and sneeze on me all day. They lick things that I have to touch. Suck their fingers and then hold my hand etc. We haven't had a single case of covid. If I'm not going to catch it at work then a bit of fabric over my face in a shop isn't really necessary! I'm looking forward to be able to go shopping properly again, something I can't do with steamed up glasses.

Thewiseoneincognito · 26/06/2021 01:12

😂🤣😂 reading some of these replies is brilliant. It’s like a Little Britain sketch, defiant maskless army of raging rebels

😆😂🤗

It does bother other people, which is why those other people are in a rush to ditch them.

I really dislike wearing them. They are a significant hassle for me. I still wear them, because I am prepared to do things that are a significant hassle for me for a good reason. But I can’t wait to get past the point where they’re needed and will be burning all mine with glee once we get there.

God only knows why this is considered selfish and snowflake and ridiculous on here. It’s not like the virus gives a fuck whether you like your mask or not, you know.

WineAndMassage · 26/06/2021 01:20

@kowari

I only wear one when I am required to do so. The minute they are optional I will stop.
This... hate it.. look at Matt Hannock.. what mask??
